  • Let's get ready for shabbat! Cook with me as I make puppy chow, potato kugel, noodle kugel, broccoli kugel, and chicken strips. Clean with me as I vacuum, mop, and make the kitchen shine. And come along as I get it all done from setting the table, preparing the shabbat candles, and more. Its a very busy day getting ready for shabbat and I am so excited to share it with you!
Hello and welcome! My name is Chana, I’m married to my best friend, and we have three wonderful children together. We also happen to be Orthodox Jews and we homeschool our kids. This video is a sneak peek into our daily lives :) You can see how this particular Jewish homeschool mom sets up her days, rolls with the punches, and gets it all done. Thanks for watching!

Most of the time I use a dust mop. I have a dog that sheds lots of hair and the mop holds the dogs hair better then a broom will.

I instantly recognized your potatocugel. It's used both in Norway and Sweden at least (maybe in Finland and Denmark too). We use the same batter, but make pancakes out of them. Delishious! The broccolicugel looked wonderful too, not to mention the fish and the chicken. As you probably know, in the time catholisism was the ruling religious denomination, in the Nordic countries at least, fish was always served on Friday.
And when you have three young children and a dog, you probably have to both vacume a n d wash your floor, at least until the snow is coming 😉😉

We live in MN so the kids, and dogs drag in mud, snow, slurry mix with sand/salt. Sweeping is a daily chore in our home. I am a hands and knees scrub the floor lady because a mop unfortunately just doesn't cut it. (I am in over drive nesting 38weeks pregnant. That plays a part in it. I haven’t made kugel for ages, must have another try soon. One of our favourites for shabbat is salmon grilled (broiled in US English 😉) with pesto and breadcrumbs. I don’t make it that often these days as we have a family member with a nut allergy so I have to make the pesto from scratch (toasted sesame seeds instead of pine nuts) but everyone loves it when I do. Shabbat prep was a wash-out here this week. The kids were back at forest school and it completely messed up my timings; need to rethink before next week!

hello Debbie! Thank you so much! I am so happy to hear that you are enjoying my videos! We do plan to make a video where we go through how to make the Moroccan fish, its so delicious! We are allowed to use regular dairy products, but the dish I was cooking was going to be served with meat so it could not contain any actual dairy because that would be against the laws of keeping kosher (because we would be mixing meat and dairy). The vacuum is a Dyson :) It is very nice and easy to use!
