@HeyNotIzzy, I am a 3D artist and I think differently. I had learned mechanical/technique drawing in high school many years ago. It has helped me with not only maths, mechanical engineering, etc, also 3D art and animation. I use Blender, 3D open source software. Look up Blender physics simulations in UA-cam and wonder how these are done.
@Santiagoo Arg, but some artists know how to code. For example, web designers (artists) who know HTML, Javascript, etc. Also, some artists use programming languages like C++, Python, etc for game developments.
At 0:57 when he narrows the compass, what length is he narrowing it down to? Cuz it's obviously wider than it was when he drew the initial circle. And that stage seems to be key in making the pentagon equilateral
The length doesn’t matter here as long as that length is maintained when you make the second set of marks he makes at 1:07. That whole step is just to find “F”, the exact midpoint between the origin and the right point of the circle, (aka cutting the radius of the original circle in half) which can be accomplished with any radius as long as the circles intersect! And again, as long as that radius stays the same when you make the marks from each point. (in other words when you perform the steps at 1:00 and 1:07) Hope that makes sense! Edit: also thought it might be helpful to point out that it’s the same process performed at 0:30, where the length of the compass also doesn’t matter as long as it’s large enough to intersect. I’d assume more length would help with better accuracy, though
This pentagon side is equal to [√(9r²-2r√5+1)]÷2 or r√(2-2cos72⁰) when r=1 The second expression is value of pentagon side calculated mathematically using cosine law.
he's bisecting the radius, there is no set length needed other than greater than half the length of the radius. it's the same method he used to quarter the circle

I had this problem too. I'm using a compass to make triangles on every side, so lt looks like a star almost. But when I came to CD, my compass didn't reach from one point to the other. Which is weird cause I didn't need to re-adjust when putting it between AE and DE. I measured and the distance between DE came out as 3.8 CM, but CD measured 4.1 CM. I don't think I did the Pentagon wrong, I may, but I don't think so. Is this the same problem you had?

As a beginners fine arts student in university....this was a big help..thanks!!! 🥺🥺🥺
If you do this in fine arts then idk what the world has become-
@@heynotizzy7493 There's nothing but pain and suffering, he should learn how to code, that's how i escaped from depression

I've discovered how to make a decagon out of this, so that's cool.
Finally... I manage to draw Pentagon perfectly.. thankyou so much for this video!!!!
Easiest and Simplest way I have seen in this video. Thanks Ali !
thnx this was great help for my upcoming text
Yes may be🤗
Test????

He is narrowing the compass more than half of the line .

would be nice if you show the measurements properly
There are no measurements to show. It is all done with only a straight edge and a compass.
you dont use measurements for this. The straight edge and compass does it all. very easy if you know basic geometry. but this guy in great at it

Excellent demo. What brand compass do you use?
This pentagon side is equal to [√(9r²-2r√5+1)]÷2 or r√(2-2cos72⁰) when r=1

thanks for the helpfull video! i love indians🇮🇳🍚
great, neat work!
Really helpful, thanksyou for making this video
Now my truncated icosahedron is completed because hexagon is easy to make but the pentagon is difficult.
u so great at doing it
Very helpful and simple to understand..
U must have to show the compass radius u making
can anyone help me with the proof ... as in why does that length at the end is the perfect length of a pentagon?
I couldnt see what you were doing cuz of the hands
Their hand was only in the way when they were adjusting the compass, and then they show clearly what length they were adjusting to at the end
Good demonstration! Precision in drawing!
Can anyone explain why you do it this way? What is the Logic behind these steps beside that the end result is a pentagon?
Why did i get this for homework??
Great work
Thank you so much!
thank you so much

Where did u buy this compass

Idk how people find this helpful. There is no measurements given on the adjustment of the compass size. Crucial information.
Tnx, you helped me so well. Thanks, I will follow you up.
Yeah i didnt see how you got the second compass measurement looked like you guessed
I love the com pass
great for drawings, but im doing this in autocad..... and i dont think it adds up to equal distant sides

It needed 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons in every 5 of hexagons in the group. So, there are four groups in total.
Isn't distance FA and GA equal?

You do need it for the radius of G

Ain't no regular pentagon, AGF is equilateral, OF is r, so AB is also r. A regular pentagon with side 1 cant be inscribed in a circle of radius 1
AO is r of Circle O. AF is r of Circle F. AB =AG =AF = GF > AO.
ABCDE is a regular pentagon, where each side is greater than the radius of Circle O.
