@@RaymondHng I thought I was the only one who felt like that. I think it was the first Movie where I saw how fantastic San Fransisco is. Also it has a strong historical background in terms of LGBT Culture.
I saw this when it came out. It was so funny! And one of those movies you have to be in the mood to enjoy? I just watched it again, tonight. It still held up. The chase scene was as good as anything in Mad World. With wonderful elements of Bullitt. The dragon scene had me in tears. Again. And the ladder, plate glass.
Oh, I wish you hadn't have stopped it yet. I wanted to see the guy being chased by the trash cans and him jumping over the fence onto an outdoor restaurant.
I love the whole movie. But this part i can't stop laughing 😂 every time I see it . Just the reaction of the people with the glass and the guy on the latter. And the cars crashing into that Beetle the face on him was great I recommend watching the whole thing 😆🤣
Although IMPOSSIBLE to choose the best laugh, I do enjoy how the Plymouth Taxi stunt driver does a nice slide into the VW Van! The Cadillac convertible repeat of the same seems like they missed the mark, but still, acceptible. Maybe that slight imperfection makes the film perfection!!!! I guess the taxi driver is used to having to "follow that car" and knows how to navigate the streets, but the gent in the open Cadillac is roped into an impromtu situation. A joy!!!!!!
Love the car chase. From beginning to end especially when all the car end up in the bay .This was the first movie I saw on the plane on the way to America 🇺🇸 arriving at LA Guardia International Airport.
Just thinkin' about this movie when I saw Babs on TV in "Meet the Frockers". When I saw your reply to my comment on Streisand & Crawford vid, I saw this clip on your channel & had to check it out, as I saw this movie in theater in '72/'73 and had big crush on Ryan O'Neil. S.F. is my hometown - so cool to see the old cars & streets in early '70's. In high school, I had friend who cut class to see filming of "Streets of S.F." with young Michael Douglas, whom I also had crush in those days.
The long-haired guy with the grocery bags is Kevin O’Neal, Ryan’s brother. Their mother Patricia appears at the end of the film sitting next to Barbra on the plane. They both manage to steal the spotlight in their brief appearances, with Kevin’s hilarious “I want my bike back!” in the courtroom and Patricia’s fantastic double take when she sees the main couple kissing. RIP to them all.
I love the way they set upthe comedyvwith the glass and the sf chinatown dragon using the natural ups and downs of SF streets! I love this movie! So sad I cant go to the filming with Ryan O'Neal present....have to be somewhere else! :p
“In his review of What's Up, Doc?, notoriously caustic critic John Simon (upon whom, according to director Bogdanovich, the character of Hugh Simon was based) said that Barbra Streisand "look[ed] like a cross between an aardvark and an albino rat surmounted by a platinum-coated horse bun," and called the film a heavy-handed attempt at nostalgia.”
👌🏼 Classic film-buff Peter Bogdanovitch (‘The Last Picture Show’, ‘Paper Moon’, etc) successfully revisiting here the very spirit of those late 1930s’ sophisticated comedies starring Cary Grant & Katharin Hepburn…
Because the film had a small budget, and save for "As time goes by" which is owned by WB, the only song they had the money to license was "La Cucaracha". It's all over the movie - there's a muzac version of it the elevators, pretty much anywhere there's music in a scene, it's this song, in some weird style.
Hold on! A car crashes into a bunch of cars at an intersection. 3:40 It's covered by the flowing cloth of a Chinese dragon, which already had been torn previously by one of the cars in the crash. Moments later, the pushcart is shown still covered by most of the Chinese dragon. Movie continuity? Someone was not on it. BTW, Barbra hated this movie.
People sometimes change their minds about things. When this movie was released she gave an interview where she mentioned how she confronted Peter Bogdanovich about how his screwball comedy was NOT funny. She could not see any humor in the lines she was given. Along the way she and Ryan O'Neal commiserated about how badly the movie was coming together. When I read this magazine story long ago (I can't remember which mag) I had difficulty believing it -- that is why it made such a strong impression on me.
She was seeing the script. She's seeing the dailies. She's not seeing the completed movie. And maybe she was too close to seeing how it all came together, like magic. Comedy is tough! She had a lot at stake. A failure would hit her badly.
It's not that she hated the movie; it's that she didn't have much faith in it while they were shooting. And, to be fair, the script was thrown together quickly and Bogdanovich was making much of it up as they shot. It's kind of a miracle that it came out so well.
For this being a COMEDY 😝❣️❣️BOY WHT A GREAT CAR CHASE SCENE 💥💥💥🗯️😜🙃😜😄cult classic ✨😜😂😂😂this film has everything & none of the 💩💩u see these days .. I hope it won awards .. & why /How can Babs not luv it, its perfect .... I adore it ❣️ 💟👌💞💋🙏🙏🙋
No CGI in this movie. This is how a comedy is made, Folks!!
And bravo for Barb - no plastic surgery, either.

Ikr.... Luv it first *X I saw it 😍love it same/more ❣️today 🙏✨✨🏆🎞️🎞️🎞️🎬
Watching an out of control Chinese dragon hurtling down the street is actually pretty damn funny.
Seeing the St. Mary's Girls Drum and Bell Corps run away screaming was the funniest.
@@RaymondHng I thought I was the only one who felt like that. I think it was the first Movie where I saw how fantastic San Fransisco is. Also it has a strong historical background in terms of LGBT Culture.
I’m laughing until the tears ran down my face….although I’ve seen this film many many times,
This movie gives me life. You’re not allowed in my family without seeing it.
It does the same for me seeing the St. Mary's Girls Drum and Bell Corps running away screaming from them.
I love that "La Cucaracha" is playing during the Chinese parade! Oh, the things you notice when you've watched the movie 83 times!

Most funny film I ever saw .... each scene and detail is great ...
I agree entirely
Totally 💯 % !!!!!!! 😅😮😅😅❤😂❤😂❤ rotfl 😂!!!
This is the mother of all "change-direction-with-glass-in-hand"-jokes. And of course it's breaking in the end. Legendary movie.
The Chine dragon scene., ....Absolute Classic.
Indeed..the van getting killed is one of my favorite parts of this corny movie---from WAY back, when I was a kid!!
Lots of fun. I also like when they were all in front of the judge. Daddy?
Its the squashed VW van that cracks me up the most
God, this is so funny.
Oh, I wish you hadn't have stopped it yet. I wanted to see the guy being chased by the trash cans and him jumping over the fence onto an outdoor restaurant.
He looked like he really got hurt when he landed back first on that table though!!

One of my favorites of all time. It's like every part of film, each scene, has funny parts to it.
@2:56- Glass breaks BEFORE the guy's feet hit it! LOL!
I love this movie…Its my favorite movie shot in my favorite city & my favorite editor put it together
"Where are we? I can't see."
"Well, there's not much to see, actually. We're inside a Chinese dragon." Lol!
A funny scenes with my favorite color beetle
Best comedy ever. Watch it on a big screen. Undivided attention.
😂Come on Steve u can do it❣️my name is Howard🤣😂😂😂woooo😜

Best car chase it’s brilliant I love Barbara

The director was a genius
Well there's not much to see, we're inside a Chinese dragon 🤣🤣🤣
Lol!!! I just love this movie
There's not much to see ...actually...we are inside a chinese dragon! Hahaha.....xxxooo

That's why no one in California can get car insurance.

That Cadillac Fleetwood is so 1950's looking!
@DickieAnginson And how about the part where the poor guy ends up stomping the fresh cement after he smoothes it over 2 times before he gives up.
great film....
Gotta love the streets of San Francisco 😅
GREAT !
Barbra peddling in the bell bottom slacks! Lol
Is it me or is it tempting to go fast on steep hills in San Fransisco?!😂
when you want to watch an easy to watch fun movie... this is it.
San Francisco looked so clean in the 1972! it dosent look clean now! almost 50 years later!
Used-car pile-up!
This is the only Barbra Streisand movie that I like! It sort of reminds me of It’s a Mad mad mad mad world! Screwball comedy at its best! lol
Did you never see 'the prince of tides'? She is excellent in that. And really good looking!

A Chinese Band playing a Mexican song...😏
My very favorite movie. Barbra at her foxy-est and Ryan, what a yum.
I have remembered this scene when I have seen the episode "Emergency" of We Bare Bears cartoon.

The entire movie is a highlight
This scene is just as funny as Mad Mad Mad Mad World
Can someone please explain why the parade musicians in the Chinese Dragon scene are playing the Mexican song "La Cucaracha"?
It would be funny if true, but it isn't.

The St. Mary's Girls Drum and Bell Corps perform not only Chinese music at parades.

Don't know but you gotta love the incongruity of it all.
It was a gag the writers threw in!
Love this movie so romantic and funny.
Ahahah!!! beautiful film!!!
Jesus Christ the stunt works. That's a lot of close calls of peds getting hit by cars! Those were the days!
Hold on! A car crashes into a bunch of cars at an intersection. 3:40 It's covered by the flowing cloth of a Chinese dragon, which already had been torn previously by one of the cars in the crash. It is not important how the actors felt during the shoot - important is how the audience feels looking the movie ... :-)

Is there anyone here born after 1990?
I had a major crush on Ryan O'Neal back in the day. He was so handsome and sexy.
