Yes because Ukraine asked for (requested) military help to defend themselves against Russia. Ukraine also asked NATO (which includes the US) to put sanctions on Russia. If Ukraine had not asked for help with 'arms' then NATO would not be there in the first place, NATO is there with Ukraine's permission, and if Ukraine wants NATO to leave then they 'will' leave, be gone, and never come back. Ukraine just recently asked Canada for help against Russia. Why? Because Ukraine is afraid (scared) of being invaded by Russia and Ukraine needs (requested) outside help (NATO) with '>self-defense
Have they forgotten the Afghanistan blunder already? Where was NATO then?
I don't think NATO should get involved in this, but Afghanistan was very different. This would be ships, aircraft, armored vehicles etc. Much better targets than an insurgency presents.
In my opinion it’s harder to project such a military power on nations like Afghanistan and Vietnam . The U.S could of dominated both areas but would of caused an unnecessary amount of casualties.

Ukraine doesn't ask for our troops. They simply ask for weapons. Plus, USA signed Budapest moratorium in 1991 or 1992, which states that Ukraine gives up its nuclear weapons in return for US protection agains Russians.

He knows that:
1) He and other people are not invincible, that in a war 'anyone' can die! Either via betrayal or enemy assault or flying debris.
2) You'll wake up to a world of rubble and corpses! And you cannot take it back/wake up from the nightmare. That you'll be stuck in that reality.
3) Not even the wealthy would be safe. But they undoubtedly would be more safe than the average person.
If push comes to shove, their wealth allows them to afford a private vessel and escape from a war. In recent times the Afghanistan leader ACTUAL displayed that! I knew that was the case growing up (cus most people are in truth stupid, they under use their brain and just want to be babied through life).
Anyway, wealthy [covert] narcissits/evil creatures in disguise can afford to hype up the crowd (like the idiot @al rent, I doubt he's wealthy thou, he's just dangerously dumb ~ so eager to mock that he forgets to think, one those sorts).
3) As the war intensifies, crimes will also increase. The police won't be around to give a sh*t (some are narcissits/rapists themselves). Rape, theft, kidnapping, etc will become common against civilians - most of which is unjustified and simply 'evil for the sake of being evil' (narcissits are like this at their core, they've practiced hiding this and messing with ppls mind).
4) Society will smell... Because ppl are everywhere. And in a war, most of their location will be reduced to a grave site.
So enjoy a 'world of rubbles', filled with corpses and the stench of decaying flesh, 😀 ~sounds wonderful (sarcasm, obv).
So, yeah, that'd why the man's freaking out. 🙄 As I said most ppl are stupid, but very egotistical and malicious (primarily narcs, I swear those demons in human clothing should be religiously killed early before they destroy society and the world).
