Andycine (the manufacturer) sent me a new cover that they will now be including with the display. I'll have an update soon on my Extra's channel so you can see what it looks like. They will send it to others who have previously purchased the display with the old cover.
Hello, have you received the case? I didn't find the video on your other channel. You don't know if it's already selling with the new one? Thanks good videos! regards
Yes I also couldn't find the other video on your channel. Also, what's the "separate stand" that you used with this? You kinda slapped it down but we can't see the brand and you didn't have a link to it in the description
This reminds me of my Elecrow 10.1" TV/display. The terrible "stand" they bundle with it forces you to use something else. They to add insult to injury it is very tough to find a stand otherwise. The only reason I keep it is the fact that the resolution is 1080p and it really is gorgeous. Anywho, back on topic another informative and well put together review.
Is it possible that it fries the switch like other generic mobile docks? Or using the official Nintendo AC/DC adapter avoids this? Also, it would be great to know if this is works as a Samsung Dex replacement, as it is now not needed to have the official hardware, some dongles also works.
Thank you so much for starting to look into these monitors! I was on the fence about them, because I specifically wanted one for the Switch without requiring a dock. I saw one with a built in battery but was not sure of the specs and if it would work on the switch, without burning it out.
I still have a working Acer Iconia 6120 dual screen laptop, that I use as a pdf music reader. For now, I hope it keeps working, as I have not seen an alternative, that seems attractive. We have always had problems with overly sensitive touch and use them with touch disabled. Still keeping an eye open for a good alternative.
I personally bought one of these last year for $170 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C5LPZMW/ certainly could NOT pass up on that price considering everything else is $300+
Lon, you hear of the recent Nano Jetson announcement from Nvidia? Something like that seems right up your alley. Would be interested to see what it is capable of, maybe in terms of video, gaming, emulation, etc.
Great review Lon. I have one too and those cover/stands are frustrating and junk. In addition a little overpriced. Would've shopped a little more if I knew. Overall I like it. Mine doesn't seem to have all the fingerprints on it like yours does! lol . Maybe next review will be microfiber cloths?? 🤣
Can you check out the C-Force portable monitor? It has the feature of just plugging in the switch without a dock, I would love to see something better then a show room floor video, please check it out and hopefully it's good for a portable switch screen
I think if they would've placed a rechargeable battery in the top part and made the whole screen the same thickness it could've been really interesting.
Chrome OS and touch functionality would have been a good test too. Been thinking of getting a chrome os mini box. But havent cause I am looking for a decent affordable compatible touch display to go with it.
The Surface Tablet doesn't support Thunderbolt 3. That is the technology which moves Displayport (video) + data + power over USB-C. Anything with Thunderbolt 3 support should work.
@@LonSeidman not every variation of USB-C supports them. Nor do every variation support them to the degree necessary. I believe in this case, only the L6540 and L7540 controllers can push that. I could be wrong. But I've spent a couple months sourcing components for a product and this is exactly what we needed since USB-C is definitely less standardised than we'd all like.
would have been great as a switch dock with built in monitor (i presume since switch portable screen turns off that it goes into high power docked mode).. except the darn response time. Bummer.
Forgive me if this is a stupid question but does the Stand work better if the monitor is used upside down? (the stand part looks like a case I had for an old tablet and it folds into itself to prop it up)
Good review Lon. Once again excellent content. Pricey thing but I think this would be good for travelling people who are using their laptops much on the go for productivity. That "kickstand" though looks like total shit, which is unacceptable in that price range.
OUCH another $300+ portable monitor. Nice to see both USB-C and HDMI onboard tho. Wonder if you can use USB-C for touch and HDMI for video for those devices/laptops that do NOT support Display over USB-C. I personally own one of these myself www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C5LPZMW/ bough it last year for $170 which was impossible to pass up considering everything else is $300+ so nearly half the price for most of the functionality. I don't do touch on my laptops so no need for that but there is a touch version for those that want it.

Can we get some pictures of the new cover? I am very intrested in picking this up if the cover is better.

has anyone tried it and had any problems so far?
Do you think its safe for switch? Considering it also draws power channelled on the monitor? Do you think there is a possibility for it to be bricked?

Good review, it's the type of display I am looking for when I'm teleworking. I hope you will review more, particularly those with built in batteries.
Does touchscreen work on android? The product page hints at it

Thanks for your great video. Saw this monitor on another UA-cam video but it wasn't very detailed. Your video is great! Thanks so much!
Would be all over this for about $150. $300 is too much

Touch works on ChromeOS too, just a FYI. Tested with a ChromeOS Pixel Slate, can set it up as a mirror or extended desktop display. Nice.

It was actually intentional :). Here's one of the guiding principals of the channel : lon.tv/dressupburgers
does the OTG usb port support gamecube adapters for the switch ? can i plug a lan adapter for the switch ?

Wonderful review. The price point for me for this is right around $220. Main uses would be for travel..... Thanks so much.........

Will it work with one of your Apple computers in the background?
Really good review. They need to fix the stand. At $289, I'd want to see it's competitors as well.

I was screaming flip the dang screen and use the fold as help.
Nice monitor 👍😃👍
Is that a super imposed screen between 1-39 seconds...looks fake.
Will this device work with a cell phone such as the Pixel 3XL? (That would make the phone double as a tablet.)
If the phone can output video via USB-C you'll get an image but I don't think the touch functions will work.
44ms input lag is a no go for me. If it has anything more than 1 frame of lag, 16ms, it's not worth it.
Your only solution will be a TN usb c monitor. I owned a no brand TN usb c monitor and now a wimaxit, and there are a big difference in response time.

No
