    If you just acquired new Drilled & Slotted Rotors, it's important to know which is the left and right rotors. Installing the rotor correctly will allow for maximum cooling and long-term brake system performance. For PowerStop Drilled & Slotted Rotors, we provide a sticker on the hat of the rotor indicating which side it should be installed on.
    Luckily, if your rotors are not labeled, there is an easy way to tell. On the top side of the rotor, follow up along the slot. If it is correct, it will point toward the back of the vehicle.

    If the internal fins are directional to expel heat then you can put them on the wrong way. The slots and drills have no specific direction required. Its the internal fins if your rotor has fins.

    Baer rotors go in reverse of what was said here, make sure to consult your instructions for proper orientation.

    I was always told that s/d rotors is to dispurse water from making your pads hydroplane GI ING you better breaking in rain.

      If you got the z36 package you will get a really long long life out of them. I have a 01 Durango 5.9 r/t and I have about 35k and my rotors look like new and 65%-70% left on the pads. I sometimes do towing and I definitely drive fast and brake hard. I usually got 1 or almost 2 years between the other brakes I used. Maybe I was thinking I probably did a really good brake in with really good quality parts.

    I keep seeing Dodge Challengers with mismatched or wrong way facing rotors. They came from the factory that way. It’s supposed to vent the gas to the outside of the wheel. Not concentrate it to the center.

    • @jasoncaine2600
      @jasoncaine2600 5 місяців тому +1

      You just see what you want to see 🤷‍♂️ the direction is determined by the internal vents not the visible slots 🤷‍♂️

      @@jasoncaine2600 I had to really dig into the research to find this one. You are correct about the internal vents.
      I found out companies like dodge and others saved money on manufacturing by making single direction slots. That’s why they don’t face the same directions on the left and right.
      The original design was to exhaust the gasses between the pad and rotors. Now they say the backwards slots “clean the brake pad”.

    Don’t be fooled, drilled and slotted don’t cool anything better. It’s strictly to channel off gases from a melting pad away from the friction surface so the gasses don’t get trapped between the pad and rotor. In other words all these are is a bandaid for you melting brakes. Also don’t put any drilled and slotted on a off road vehicle, you will learn why after you go through any mud.

    • @AyeThereGoMalco

      @@AyeThereGoMalco also if you want to do something about it your options are to do nothing and play the gamble of what goes first the rock or your pad, or you can take your brakes apart than knock off any rocks embedded into the pad and inspect them to make sure they aren’t about to come apart. Replace pads and or rotors if need be.

      @@flyingsavage8522 okay and the weird part is the brakes are new about 1000 miles but I put on aftermarket wheels and the spacer was the wrong size and the noise appeared I got the right size spacer and it’s still there?

    • @flyingsavage8522
      @flyingsavage8522 Рік тому +1

      @@AyeThereGoMalco did the sound start before or after you went through the mud? If before could be your tire is rubbing something, if it started after the mud it’s from rocks. For the rubbing check the tire and inner wheel well, if the sound is coming from your brake and gets louder when braking it’s rocks. Doesn’t matter if the brakes are new mud and rocks don’t care about miles.

    Or just buy plane face rotors . Drilled is nothing but looks

      I don't know about that. I noticed huge difference in braking distance when I got slotted ones. Only thing is the pads goes out faster. I'll trade that for safe stopping though.

    • @jay_Jalapeno
      @jay_Jalapeno Місяць тому

      @monkeyking-self-proclaimed7050 I said drilled . Slotted only gives a benefit in the fact that it wipes away a layer of pad all the time so you get a fresh layer for braking . That's why your pad life is worse than half of normal I bet .
      95% of people would never notice w difference between an ok pad and slotted and good pads on a solid face quality rotor
