possibly 'Interesting anecdote' way back in the 80s I worked as a stage hand/roadie, lost count of the number of gigs I worked on, certainly 'did' Slade a few times, I was sitting in the catering tent backstage at Donnington park monsters of rock, sitting with my fellow crew mates eating our lunch when Dave Hill of Slade joined us at our table, nice guy Dave, we had quite a long conversation and some laughs, so I broached the issue I have with that F-ing song, he laughed and said he was also sick of playing it, However, It has sent his kids to a good school and he looks forward to the royalties every Christmas.
Although the royalties have probably run out by now.
Also, many years before that, in the 70s a guy I knew had an old BSA 650 chopper motorbike, his registration was "YOB 1" I asked him how much for it, he said "you can't afford it" found out later he sold it to Dave Hill from Slade, never said how much he got for it, but he wasn't riding a ratty old BSA any more.
When he headbutts Tony, his wig flows perfectly.

I'm 6' 2" and I was dating a woman who was 4' 10" at the time this episode aired. She wasn't a dwarf or a midget, she was just short. I watched this episode with friends so you can imagine the verbal jabs I took similar to what Max went through!

Noddy Holder from famous UK band Slade
Mick Bustin was played by Noddy Holder. Lead singer in the group Slade
New Year's Eve at the Aquarius club. Precursor to the Phoenix. Prior to Potter's accident. (That part of the story is in the other Peter Kay series that predates the 1st series of Phoenix Nights. Its called "That Peter Kay Thing". Contains several episodes but each episode is different characters from Peter's genius mind. Not all episodes relate to Phoenix Nights nor Max and Paddy.
The Garage owner was the lead singer of a band called Slade Noddy Holder. famous song So here it is, merry Christmas everybody's having fun. Plus google the Krankies. (Not because they are funny) but the reference will make sense.

There is a Middlewood (a different one) which is a suburb of Sheffield. It used to be the location of a hospital for those with mental health issues - now long since closed down.
