There were at least three versions of this shelter, the first was adopted in 1949 and had no poles as the issue Mosin Nagant rifle was supposed to be used. The next generation was a darker coloration and had issue poles and the third is actually pretty close to American M80 woodland camo.

Thanks for that info bro. That would explain the two variations of this garment I saw in the army surplus store. My one was the larger of the two. Have you any idea which one it is?

@@southernlandsolo7839 yours should be the first model, I know it as I also have the same version of this poncho. It's the M1949 model👌🏻

@@giannifavini4378 Interesting. Thanks for the info. I thought it would be a later version due to it's condition and minimal fade of the colours. It must be early issue but had limited use.

Nice one Dave. Informative and good job on the waterproofing using bees wax. I used silicone spray on mine but haven't tested it in rainy conditions yet.
