@@MacMc691however, even if you had a VCR in 1982, back then the window from a movie opening to theaters to home video could be more than a year (for example, Return of the Jedi didn’t come out on home video until 1985, two years after it came out in theaters). Friday the 13th 3 came out in theaters just a little over a year after Part 2, when people may have not had a chance to rent it yet and watch it again to recap anything they may have forgotten.
@@bobcobb3654 There isn't an "if you had a VCR back in 1982", we did have one. Context is important here, it was stated, "There were no VHS back then!", which is what I replied to. To elaborate on your post, yes, movies typically took over a year to be released, irrelevant to the statement that was made, in addition, those movies would easily run people over $100.00 to purchase, assuming there was even an option to buy, which most movies, there was not. To elaborate a little further, the first time I started seeing VCR's was sometime back in the late 70's, the Laser Disc in the late 70's and very early 80's, was the go-to for buying movies.
Jason protects Crystal Lake. If you don’t like the premise of Jason killing kids off one by one at the lake then this might not be the franchise for you.
@@marcusmcgill4423 They first introduced the concept in "Freddy vs. Jason" by contrasting the characters' two hells--Freddy's hell is that he can't kill people. Jason's hell is that he HAS to kill people for eternity.
@@marcusmcgill4423 It’s not really remake. That was a reboot. But yeah, that was the first film I saw in the franchise and it’s my favorite. It’s a shame the sequel was canceled. Even the writers leaked a few pages of its scripts, I wish they would post the entire thing so we can know the whole story. Based on what they leaked it seemed like it would’ve been a cool film.
Hi girls. This is the reason the objects were so close to the screen and I quot: "Friday the 13th Part III was released theatrically in the United States on Friday, August 13, 1982. It was the first-ever 3-D film to receive a wide domestic release" Great reaction, I can't wait for the upcoming vídeos. Greetings from Paraguay ✨
You hit the nail on the head that "not everybody is watching these movies back to back," which is the reason for the long recaps. You also have to remember that even VHS was in its infancy in 1982, so it was difficult to watch these movies on demand back then. People actually went to the theaters to watch movies. LOL
The "Final" Chapter is one of the best in the franchise and it switches it up. Tom Savini also comes back to do the practical effects and he's a horror legend.
It’s funny watching Roxy, you can tell her love language is physical touch, and Tara doesn’t really vibe with that but will allow it for Roxy to express herself. 😂😂
The one thing I hate about reactors is they always criticize character traits and decisions based on modern sensibilities when it could’ve been completely normal and accepted 40 years ago.
LOL, I feel like you guys didn't know that this movie was made to be shown in 3-D, which is why there were so many at camera stunts. The 3-D gimmick that originated in the 1950's had a bit if a comeback in the early 80's, with movies like this and Jaws 3. BTW, Jason's weapon of choice is not a chainsaw, it's a machete. You are likely thinking of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
That's totally depressing! This formula doesn't do anything for me. Which is why I've only seen the first movie, which was even boring with Kevin Bacon!
@@imaspoon4522for the best experience, I start with 4. Move to 6. Go to X and then FvJ. The remake is actually my favorite in the series. Leagues better than the original.
The formula is great. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. That’s why they are comfort movies. Also, the series is famous because the movies are good. They are all good except for 9.
"The time of movies where only colored people were villains" We're...just going to ignore that there was a white person right there as part of the gang? And we're also going to ignore that the overarching villains of the series have both been white people? Okay, then.
haven't you heard? its offensive to have even minor non-white antagonists in movies where the actual villain is a white guy...like Jason, Freddy, Michael, Leatherface, Chucky, Norman Bates, Pinhead, Jigsaw, etc. Seriously though, imagine not being able to turn off your woke nonsense long enough to enjoy an hour and a half of harmless entertainment such as the Friday the 13th movies. 😂
Roxy and Tara you two are amazing. And GREG is AMAZING. I got second-hand anxiety from those terrible messages, I felt so awful for him and I was so irritated. He handled it so much better than I would have! SheJects / Scream Queens Forever. Much love to Greg, John and the other guys too. None of you deserve the vitriol that some people feel the need to leave. Spread love, laughter and hugs man.
Honestly, the Friday the 13th series isn't about the characters (except for one you'll meet next movie). The series, from what I see as a fan, is about Jason and his creativity for kills. Also! I would love, love, LOVE to see you two react to the Evil Dead franchise. There's not a single bad Evil Dead movie. Each one is different and the TV show is fucking amazing.
Jason covers his face because it's one of the reasons his abusive father didn't like him. And he drown because the kids at the camp stuck a potato sack over his face (hence the sack in the second movie) before shoving him off of the pier, while the counselors were off having sex, drinking, and/or doing drugs, and thus left all of the kids unsupervised. The sack was actually why he was so clumsy in the second movie. It limited his depth perception. But likely, he was use to squinting with his right eye, as his deformity might have caused him to not see well with it. And in the 50s, it was unlikely that his mom could afford a monocle for him. Part 8 reveals why he keeps coming back (notice a prop from another franchise?).
they did the movie lens stuff you mention because the original theatrical release was "Friday the 13th Three -- in 3D". You had to wear the red and blue 3D glasses at the theater. Trust me, i know, i was there.
Actually, the 3D glasses back then had greyish tinted lenses, not red and blue. My eldest sister kept hers after seeing Friday The 13th 3D in theatres when we were kids (I was too young to go to it with her when it came out).
You dont see many people reacting to these friday films these days but im happy you guys are doing it and i get to watch from part 1 on up instead from mid way, btw this is where the series starts getting good
Something crazy is that i grew up right next to Elm Street, 20 minutes away from a Crystal Lake, and 10 minutes from a road called Lampkin... So i got Freddy, Jason, and Michael in my area 😭😭😭
I try to tell people that 3-D is always a short-lived Fade that keeps coming back. It started in the 1950s, comeback in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and in the 2000s.
The MPAA in the 80s was absolutely viscous to the Friday series. They were always calling for cuts to bring it from a rated X to a R which is why you see more the aftermath of the kills rather than the kills themselves. However this series does have the best and maybe the most inventive kills ever.
54:11 its interesting hearing Roxy describe what are now considered 'tropes' about one of the movies that were the reason these became tropes. The repetitive nature of it is why they became stereotypes but also why they became popular at the time. Back then they were just giving people what they wanted to see more of. Up until Scream came out, made by one of the people who helped set those stereotypes, basically acknowledging how silly it all was but also breathing new life into the genre. Watching Scream without having watched at least some of these movies is definitely not the same.
She didn’t previously “ defeat” Jason. She was attacked years ago and passed out and then woke up in her own bed. The implication is that Jason didn’t kill her for whatever reason.. the script also implies other not so great things. But there was never really a battle.
It doesn't even like up considering the bald man w/ the messed up face couldnt be Jason as Pt3 takes place a day after Pt2. And remember when Jason wore his sack mask, he has stubble & long hair along w/ overalls & flannel. + Jason only recently started killing bc of his mother!! It's just her having PTSD.
@@TheLastOfTheRockstarsU2 it could've been anyone. Again, Jason was a loner who hid in his shack. He wasn't at all aggressive towards anyone. If anything, he snuck out to steal food, tp, & other necessities from the camp. He literally hid from most people.
@@RogueOfShadows000 well, he also left Crystal Lake entirely to track down. Allison killed her and her house.. so.. maybe he bumped into Chris on the way back lol
I am truly born in part 3. Yeah the sack head look was alright, but this is the moment I became apart of the Zeitgeist forever. Jason lives. Long live Jason. Part 4 and 6 are the best. Fyi.

I read into friday the 13th part 2 so apparently a theory about the ending how ginny is taken away in the ambulance paul is nowhere to be found when Paul saves Ginny. He actually died there fighting Jason the second time and ginny was traumatized by the experience that she sliced jason and imagined that paul and muffin the dog were still alive and Jason dragging her out the window. Similar with Alice imagining Jason pulling her into the lake and Chris gets attacked by Jason’s mother in the lake. And Jason moms head was smiling in the last shot to symbolize Jason got Paul.
That's ALMOST my head canon for Part 2. Except that in my version, Paul lives. Everything up to Ginny collapsing by the large puddle of water happened exactly as shown in the movie. Paul picks Ginny up and carries her the rest of the way, and THAT is where Ginny starts hallucinating, imagining the return of Muffin and Jason attacking her through the window. This is somewhat confirmed in the news report in Part 3. The reporter said that "Eight bodies were found literally strewn across the campsite". Had Paul been killed, the body count would have been nine.
@@fnfmashups3962 It wasn't retçonned. It was ALWAYS just a dream. It just wasn't done as well as Alice's dream at the end of Part 1, which lead to a bunch of confusion. The real question is when and where does real life end for Ginny, and where does the movie become her hallucination? Some people say back at Jason's shack, right after she hacked into his shoulder with the machete. I say that it happened when Ginny and Paul stop to rest by the large puddle of water that marked the halfway point between the camp and his shack. Some people believe that her hallucination doesn't start until the moment that they reach the door to their cabin (which I concede as a definite possibility). But Muffin being alive and Jason breaking through the window to attack Ginny is, was, and always has been a dream.
7:05 This was still 1982, there was no streaming, not everybody had BetaMax players or VCR's. Plus I don't think these movies were on cable just yet. So them doing recaps was probably reasonable at that time.

I’ve never been into the Jason movies, but you two make them so fun to watch! 😆 Thank you for the message about Greg in the beginning. He didn’t deserve all that hate! Like you said he has to do what’s best for the whole team. Be kind to one another. 💜 Much love to all of you! ❤️
they aren't on the camp ground this time, they are at the lake but it's a different part of the lake...not that it matters to Jason...as far as jason is concerned they on his turf...he be like "get the fu%$ of my land bit$£!" to be angry is to be human, there is nothnig wrong with being angry or upset after being rejected...but you can;t stay that way...you got to let it go. it's not on a CAMPSITE! it's at a CABIN...with a barn...it's a completley different location...just on the same lake. the first two films are more or less in the same place (give or take maybe being a little way apart) but the third is like on the other side of the lake.

So funny watching two fun and sophisticated girls try to make sense of a 80’s slasher movie. Sean Connery once said to an aspiring actor during a scene “Come now this isn’t Shakespeare!” I believe he was in a rush to play golf. 👍💯😇
What if chucky series season 2, 3 and so on done like annual events every October. Like we cover season 2 in October in 2025. Season 3 in 2026 possible season 4 in 2027. If not it's cool cause i don't know how it all works lol
Ever notice that Camp Crystal Lake always looks different with a lot of the movies?...well because (unlike parts 3 and the beginning of part 4) the filmmakers used a different location for the many of films (they never use the same location twice). 😉
Which is another reason why it's annoying that parts 2-4 are supposed to be taking place within days of each other. That and Jason gaining a foot in height and putting on like 50 lbs of muscle within a few days.
@@willE84 - remember theses movies are supposed to be viewed as cheap entertainment (made on lower budgets for maximum profits) & check your brain at the door types of films, not to be viewed as historical dramas (because these films ain't them) and adherence to authentic accuracy (these are horror fantasies - come on now, Jason dies at the end of every movie yet always comes back in the next one after all. Yeah, that's real alright. *Eyeroll*) There are all sorts of continuity errors, inconsistencies, plot holes and leaps in logic throughout the Friday The 13th/Jason franchise (and many other horror franchises in general) but if you view them with the right frame of mind there is enjoyment to be had (including with all the goofs, gaffes and everything else in between). These are schlock horror films but in the best ways (in my opinion).
I look forward to all your reactions. I enjoy the different perspectives and also the fact I saw these as a child and you all are watching as adults, I bet I would have a different view and analysis if I had viewed these at a later time in life. However my love for horror and film in general gave me a never ending yearning to know every in and out of how they made the magic happen.
I always like how Jason walked out of the house so nonchalant before getting whacked in the head, he might as well have been humming a tune on the way out.🤣

I know in the remake they made it clear it was more so Jason just wanting to be left alone and didn't want anyone on his turf.
@@marcusmcgill4423 They first introduced the concept in "Freddy vs. Jason" by contrasting the characters' two hells--Freddy's hell is that he can't kill people. Jason's hell is that he HAS to kill people for eternity.
Yeah but it can’t be the exact same premise for each movie 😂. At least from 4 onwards they spice it up a little bit.
it gets repetitive. very repetitive.
It was the first-ever 3-D film to receive a wide domestic release"
Great reaction, I can't wait for the upcoming vídeos. Greetings from Paraguay ✨
Thanks For This Reaction, Gals! I❤ Chucky Franchise & The Show! l❤This Real Rejects As Whole Show!
You hit the nail on the head that "not everybody is watching these movies back to back," which is the reason for the long recaps. You also have to remember that even VHS was in its infancy in 1982, so it was difficult to watch these movies on demand back then. People actually went to the theaters to watch movies. LOL
Just remember Shejects, Freddy has Elm Street and Jason always has Camp Crystal Lake..... And the surrounding camp grounds😅
Part 4 is great for many reasons, one is definitely the introduction of Tommy Jarvis
Thanks!
As someone who is starting up a reaction channel, hearing your intro really gave me some insight, thank you for the knowledge .

The one thing I hate about reactors is they always criticize character traits and decisions based on modern sensibilities when it could’ve been completely normal and accepted 40 years ago.
I agree of course these movies aren’t hard hitting now but these films scared the shit out of people in the 80”s!
I'm not sure if you realize this but this movie was in 3D in the theater, that's why all the coming at you shots.
Was actually one of the better 3D movies, especially if you compare it to Jaws 3D
@@JohnDAmico-ci2hz "Jaws 3-D" is really fun in 3-D.
The formula never changes, I wish you guys the best. This series is famous, but not because of the quality of the films.
That's totally depressing! This formula doesn't do anything for me. Which is why I've only seen the first movie, which was even boring with Kevin Bacon!

The formula is great. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. That’s why they are comfort movies. Also, the series is famous because the movies are good. They are all good except for 9.
I actually think Jason lives and the final chapter are quality slasher flicks.
I’m so excited for Freddy vs Jason and I love you girls and John thank you for great reactions!

There isn’t really any

Jaws 3D.
Friday the 13th part 3 or far from home
Trick question. None of them.
"The time of movies where only colored people were villains"
We're...just going to ignore that there was a white person right there as part of the gang? And we're also going to ignore that the overarching villains of the series have both been white people? Okay, then.
She said "people of color, not "colored people" , and that was mos def a trope in 80s movies, casting us as thugs and hoods.
lol relax boomer. Also learn the difference between “people of color” and the phrase you used.
haven't you heard? its offensive to have even minor non-white antagonists in movies where the actual villain is a white guy...like Jason, Freddy, Michael, Leatherface, Chucky, Norman Bates, Pinhead, Jigsaw, etc.
I'm sad that you guys wont continue with Chucky but I still love you, you're still Scream Queens. And I love that you loved the Horror of it all.
"It's a swamp family!" Iconic line
Obsessed with the Shejects. Keep this train on the tracks until the wheels fall off, GREG!
Hell ya let’s go
Honestly, the Friday the 13th series isn't about the characters (except for one you'll meet next movie). The series, from what I see as a fan, is about Jason and his creativity for kills.
Also! I would love, love, LOVE to see you two react to the Evil Dead franchise. There's not a single bad Evil Dead movie. Each one is different and the TV show is fucking amazing.
TV Show was balls to the walls awesomeness!
The Evil Dead franchise would be awesome for the Shejects to react to!
Part 8 reveals why he keeps coming back (notice a prop from another franchise?).
tara and roxy the dynamic duo
Honestly, I used to watch this channel a lot without subscribing (for some reason) but the Roxie and Tara made me finally do it 😁 Love you guys!!!
Fun fact: Jason appears in the hockey mask for the very first time at exactly the 1 hour mark.
Thanks for a great channel with such amazing folks, Greg! She-Ject reactions continue to be the highlight of my week.
they did the movie lens stuff you mention because the original theatrical release was "Friday the 13th Three -- in 3D". You had to wear the red and blue 3D glasses at the theater. Trust me, i know, i was there.
The DVD comes with glasses too.
@@everyonelovesmajima when i was watching it in drive-ins, there were no DVDs...lol
It was awesome too!
When they go back to Jason grabbing the machete at the beginning, it went from 2D to 3D giving it incredible depth.
Actually, the 3D glasses back then had greyish tinted lenses, not red and blue. My eldest sister kept hers after seeing Friday The 13th 3D in theatres when we were kids (I was too young to go to it with her when it came out).
You dont see many people reacting to these friday films these days but im happy you guys are doing it and i get to watch from part 1 on up instead from mid way, btw this is where the series starts getting good
Please react to the Fear Street movies. They are amazing!
Roxy, I have been watching you since Schmoes and I’m so happy to see you here with the Rejects. Welcome to the horror community ladies!
Something crazy is that i grew up right next to Elm Street, 20 minutes away from a Crystal Lake, and 10 minutes from a road called Lampkin...

Watch the Hatchet movies if you want the best and most inventive kills ever. Or Terrifier 1 & 2.

My theory is that she passed out and Jason assumed she was died so he moved on.
@@RogueOfShadows000 I think the implication is that the story she tells happened two years before the events of part two
@@TheLastOfTheRockstarsU2 it could've been anyone.
Again, Jason was a loner who hid in his shack. He wasn't at all aggressive towards anyone. If anything, he snuck out to steal food, tp, & other necessities from the camp. He literally hid from most people.

@@roxystriar coming from the Queen of awesomeness herself
The part where the dog is alive and Jason jumps through the window was retconned to just be a dream
@Thundarr100 I meant it was more confirmed I guess. When part 2 came out you could speculate on whether you thought it was real or a dream
@@fnfmashups3962 Fair enough.

7:05 This was still 1982, there was no streaming, not everybody had BetaMax players or VCR's. Plus I don't think these movies were on cable just yet. So them doing recaps was probably reasonable at that time.

they aren't on the camp ground this time, they are at the lake but it's a different part of the lake...not that it matters to Jason...as far as jason is concerned they on his turf...he be like "get the fu%$ of my land bit$£!"
