Another tip for slip stitching.....instead of turning the hook toward you when pulling through, turn it away. Works like a charm. Love your videos Tiffany. You have such a lovely voice and there's something about watching you crochet that's very soothing.
@@jeannetipton6106 I have trouble with the slip stitch and thought others might too. There are different ways of doing things. Some work for some people, some work for others. I'm glad someone told me about the alternate method so I thought I would pass on the tip. Don't know why anyone would have a problem with that. Happy New Year.
@@sandrariver6935 Hi Sandra ~ It would probably be easier with a picture but I'll do my best. I struggle with the slip knots in this pattern. The hook gets stuck every time, so I tried something different. You wrap the yarn over and pull through as you usually would to begin the stitch. Then, instead of turning the hook toward you to make the second pull, you turn it away from you and then pull through. Does that help?
I started the beanie, and it looks so good! It's called the Crinkle Stitch. I saw it 12 years ago, or longer. It's a really great stitch. Good job on the beanie.
Thank you, I’ve just finished the hat n it’s turned out great. I did use markers n kept a watchful eye over my stitches to make sure the pattern ran correctly but very pleased with it
I really like the pattern for this hat. Simple yet pretty. I recently made a hat using the same slip stitch method at the top and I had a bit of trouble keeping them loose. I found what helped me was to go up a hook size just for those couple slip stitches. Just remember to switch back. 😂 Thank you for the pattern! 😊
What a CUTE stitch! I’m making this for my 6 year old granddaughter. I’m using Lion Brand Mandala Sparkle, color Nova; it’s a 3 weight so I’m using two strands and I am absolutely loving it! Thank you for this great pattern and tutorial!
I love the Wool & The Gang ad that came on before this video. Maxi Climber was the next one. This hat is very nice. I like how it doesn't have a lot of holes. It looks knit. You chose a nice color for it. Aww. The mittens are adorable.
I was watching you make the hat , and taught to myself,it might be great to make a sweater you could make the bottom, middle and top all at once, thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for your tutorial. It is a beautiful pattern really lovely to look at. The color also is wonderful it makes me want to grow my hook. Your Grandchildren are blessed to have a crocheting Grandmother. Happy day❤😊
I started making this on the plane yesterday, using screen shots of the written pattern. Watching the video, you have some size tips, I may have to frog (i only have 3 rows) to ve sure it fits my big ole head. 😅 Thank you!!! I'm going to use this stitch for a sideways wrap shawl, too. It's so pretty. 😊
If I recall correctly, I've seen a tutorial on the Rich Textures youtube channel that calls your special stitch the "tidepool" stitch. It works up into such a nice fabric, and it looks lovely in your hat!
I love this stitch pattern. I wanted to make a super scarf using it but I couldn't get it to stop slanting no matter what I tried... Can you design a super scarf or pocket scarf pattern when you get a chance, please?
Love the texture the stitches create. 👏 The word “mixed” is a little misleading because that usually refers to something else. For example the “mixed cluster stitch” comes to mind. Alternating might be a better description since you alternate from front loop to back loop. Very nice design. I like making the top of hats this way to decrease stitches making the top less bulky.
So even for adult size you do 4 slip stiches at the beginning? And still mark the 15th stitch? I wish there was more info about how many chains etc for adult size! Thank you
It is the size of brim ... then mixed stitches- even number .. 5 slip stitches. Example: I made my brim 4 inches , I marked it . I counted my stitches that would be mixed and got 21, so I added one more stitch to the brim for a even 20 for the mixture. It's easier to just measure brim , count even middle stitches, then your 5 stitches on top.
@@lunamoon301 Thank you for this tip for adult size. I have never made a beanie hat before & want to make one for my husband & I LOVE this pattern but wish it was for adult size. My husband has a bigger head so I’m really not sure how many stitches I should make for hat & brim…😅
Very nice pattern. Going to try it even though it seems a bit over my head..lol Do you always slip stitch 5 no matter what size? I am making an adult size.
Love the pattern! I’m making an adult woman size and I’m trying to figure out if I chain 54 to start, and do the 5 smaller stitches at the top, how many left of the 49 stitches do I use for the brim. I checked other comments to see if it said anything to help me. I only read that brim is 4 inches. Does that mean 4 inches from the fold so 8 inches of back loop only OR does the 4 inches mean total brim so that when you fold it over, the brim folded in half is 2 inches total? TIA
My little grandson wants a football hat in 3 colours, would this work with this pattern? I'm guessing I'd do the colour chain on the last stitch of the brim....🥰
So, perhaps a dumb question, but when you say “head circumference, “ exactly where on the head do you ask someone measure? Thanks Tiffany! I love 💗 watching you work, while I learn new patterns!
So to clarify - in the body of the hat, between the brim stitches and the slip stitches: if I start with back loop HDC, I end with front loop HDC. Is that correct? And then on the way back down the row, is a front loop HDC going into a front loop HDC, and a back loop HDC going into a back loop HDC?
Not quite, for the body of the hat, start every time with front loop HDC, and alternate with back loop. The final st is back loop. I wouldn't worry about the previous row. Just always start with Front loop HDC.
The top of the hat is where the slip stitches are made. The brim is back loop HDC. Maybe the written pattern can help? Here’s the link: daisyfarmcrafts.com/crochet-even-mixed-loop-hat/
It is shown...and told... look a little closer, get it in your hands and play "monkey see , monkey do" , and you'll find out. I was just skipping through and at 7:12 she has a couple of rows done and I can see that the stitches are different. And for the next couple of minutes she talks about the different stitches. She does slip stitches at the top and the bottom. The top is a short row, and the bottom, that will be the turned up brim, is long rows of 6" or so, then she changes up and does have double crochets and she uses different Loops every Stitch. She explains why she calls it what she calls it and she's asking everyone to tell her if they know the official name for what it is she's doing because she would like to call it by that name but for now she's calling it what she's calling it. Did you skip through this video too fast? I think someone was distracted or impatient... oh, she also says that it's 40 some odd rows, because she made it for a man - her hubby, I think.

Hi, if starting 45 st for 10 in height, is it a multiple of x(?) st to make an adult hat? Or just any number of st for the 20 height? Thx
