I really hate that the solution to open worlds in Sims 4 was to just have random neighbors show up to your house at all hours of the day.

Honestly, sometimes I wish Simmer would go on "strike" and not buy and review any more new packs until EA get their sh*t together and fix all the bugs and glitches in the base game and all the packs. It gets so frustrating that there have been bugs since the beginning that were never looked at again.

I think it's too late for TS4 to be save. Don't forget it's nearly 9 years running. It's bloated, buggy and glitches beyond the repair. Simmers should boycotted the game is noble idea but not in the reality. EA is very good at showing a new shiny thing and Simmers will fall for it.

I hope the sims 5 would give us the ability to ACTUALLY have mean interactions or at least actual high school drama, when one person can ruin your whole life, just because you got into their way. I want some real badass mean people, and sims to have different personalities. I want sims to be different, and not just some npc's who just have different outfits and traits.

The Sims 5 base game needs to start off meaty. Weather, all life stages, cars, open neighborhoods, small animals, apartments instead of houses, shops for basic needs. THEN expand on all of that with DLC for better/fancy shops, organic food markets, farming packs with all types of farm/ranch animals including pigs, goats and horses. If they want to expand on weather, perhaps do big storms like tornados, earthquakes that actually make sense, floods, etc. Those are things that get expanded plus people who can run it on their PC can buy them without feeling like they are missing out on anything since they at least have the juicy stuff.

    For Sims 5 I want
-more styles for furniture and clothing
    - the zodiac personality system back, with more personality traits and have the personality of the sim actually effect how they interact with other sims.
    - A pre-teen life stage
    - A make your own world/neighborhood tool
    - a different take on the lore (as much as I adore Bella, I think it's time for us to move on to the next generation of pre-made Sims)
    - mysteries to discover in the world/ neighborhood
    - randomness. Good and bad.
    - house phones! Children should not have their own smartphones!
    - Worlds/ neighborhoods not based off the PNW. I'm sick of it. Give me the plains, the great lakes region, France, Australia's gold coast, Dubai, Morocco...

Lol yeah whenever children have smartphones in real life, they usually end up being rlly bratty. Like, children in the sims 4 are at least 5 years old. That’s basically still really little kids! And compared to 12 year olds, which is basically the max age for child sims, there’s a big difference. Like, when I was 12, there were kids dating in my school and on social media. (Then again, kids can be a little strange, for example, my little sister was dating someone when she was only in 1st grade 😅)

Another cool think I was think was like whenever they add seasons sims will only age up during the season they were born and which ever season their in would correlate to their zodiac sign like middle/late fall they would be a Virgo.

    - skateboards, rollerskates, electric scooters.
-into to the future is one of my favourite packs of all time i’d love to see something like that added again as DLC
-better nightlife aspect, i’d love for them to take inspo from late night or the urbz and make a downtown area with different clubs, cliques with unique interactions, groups you can join, different activities on different days, food trucks, and most importantly LORE. sims 4 lacks the same vibe as it’s predecessors because it feels so cookie cutter.

I loved I could write a bio for them and they had memories. It made it feel like they were real. My favorite career was the sculpture. My sims could make their own furniture for their house. I loved the interactions between sims, like the cuddling on the bed. I can’t stand that when sims go to woohoo in sims 4 they high five.. they should be kissing and growling. Or have a few different animations. Not the same one every time. Sims 4 just feels like it’s going through the motions. I miss the open world. The fun animations. I’m hoping sims 5 gives us some of that back. Even just the simple money counter a sim had on their career telling them how much money they have made since they started. Those little things are what made the game. I could careless honestly if the graphics are better. I know sims 3 lags hardcore, but at least it works. One of the worst things EA did for Sims was dissolving Maxis. Maxis was probably the greatest simulation game company of their time. Their AI models were incredible, no matter the game they released. The only other game company I can think of who created creature/human-like AI on their level back then was Lionhead studios in their game "Black and White".
When Maxis got dissolved, we got Sims 4. Sims 4 is a decent dollhouse game for those who prefer controlling the entire story, but lacks decent AI for those who don't. The sims are shallow and their autonomy sucks. The quality of the game dropped a whole lot too. Sims was Maxis' passion project, whereas EA just treats Sims like a cash cow.
I don't think EA will ever be able to create a life sim on par with Maxis' Sims games. Here's hoping another, smaller game company can.

I want to have more options for how I interact with NPCs. For example, I would like NPC sims to live in my household without taking control of them. There's something very immersive about watching your sim interact with an NPC sim while you have no idea what the NPC sim is thinking or what their intentions or needs are. I have used mods to accomplish something similar (although it is never quite what I hope to accomplish) and it could add some incredible immersive depth to the game. In addition, NPCs should have skills, friends, and relationships that are developed while off the playable lot. NPC lives are basically static, which just kills the immersion.

    1. what i would like is a relationship overhaul.
-- like my sims should develop crushes that can get deeper over time and last for an entire life stage (I know they kind of did this with high school years but I want more). also if other sims found out about the crush and could tell them your sim has a crush on them and it would give you a positive or negative moodlet or teased my sim about it or vice versa. EA has a habit of not fully developing an idea so it seems really shallow in the gameplay.
-- another thing i would like is another relationship bar. this would expand on crushes so let me explain: both summer and liberty in the sims 4 are supposed to both have feelings for travis, yet he doesn't know either of them likes him, in fact, all 3 of them don't have a romantic relationship bar at all. what I would want is if there are two sims, sim A and B who likes sim C, A and B's romantic relationship bars fill up, but C's stays empty. there currently isn't a thing in the game that makes it so your sim can't like someone without the other sim's romantic bar also filling up. so i'd like a separate bar for it.
    2. semi open world with some restrictions.
-- I like the complete open world concept of the sims 3, but I also like that i can travel to different worlds in the sims 4. what i'd like is the ability to go to any world i want to like in the sims 4, but be able to just click on any community lot and be able to go straight there without a loading screen.
-- this one might be kind of nitpicky though, but in the new game if there are new worlds that i can visit, i would appreciate if sims stayed in their own worlds. for example, i went to say, sulani, I'm not seeing judith ward at the bar or going to mt komorebi and seeing a vampire or something. sometimes it's jarring to see certain sims in places where they would realistically not be in. every sim could have a specific world where they live at and if they are in a different world, it could say "on a trip" or something like that.

It would make it a lot more realistic like irl you don't just buy having your fans send you gifts or no fantasy movie was ever like "okay you did enough magic shit now you can pick whatever random power you want" like they could make each perk more of a rabbit hole, maybe not even show the empty place for it, just leave the discovery completely up to the player, making us feel like we're really finding something new. They could also take a more realistic/mature approach to emotions, NOT MAKE THE GRAPHICS SO CARTOONEY, and give us a rather simple memory system like the sims 2, maybe integrate the different emotions the sims 2 didn't have. I also want more distinct sims where the traits actually influence their every day character. THE AMOUNT OF TIMES i wanted to make a more reserved, introverted sim and the huge cartooney expressions completely ruined it. This is not a game for kids, it's always been for the teen or older audience, EA seems to have forgotten that.

S4's build mode just has more items and whatnot. It's not actually as amazing as people laud it to be. Every single time I try to build I end up getting frustrated and give up and use the gallery for a new house because it gets so finnicky. I do think it's the best Sims game for furnishing, but actual building I find to be a pain. It has more options/features, but they weren't implemented well. Might I remind you about how rounded walls came out and were completely forgotten by the entire player base almost immediately because they sucked. Could've been great to have, but they didn't work well at all.
The build mode is just unfortunately a product of the rest of the game. Most things got implemented poorly and things break easily. The build mode is still part of a very glitchy game and so has problems like the rest of the features of the game. If it actually worked right, I would agree that S4 has the best build mode as far as options/tools/etc, but so much of it doesn't work well.
It's sad because S4 could be so much better and I do love it, but EA doesn't care enough to put enough money into it to actually make it work right. Like Satch always says, they do the bare minimum and barely even do that much, make as much money off it as possible, then they don't bother trying to improve what they already made money on (which is a dumb idea imo, because more people would buy the products i.e. packs if they kept improving them...). They don't care about customer satisfaction - they just care about filling their pockets and moving on to the next thing. That's why the amount of quality testers has gone down drastically and why they outsource their quality assurance now. They do the absolute bare minimum expense wise and it /shows/ in the final product. Build mode is unfortunately one of the things where we get new features that get left to rot, because EA doesn't want to actually spend the money on fixing it.

I always think of some gameplay ideas (below there are some) that would be really cool in the base and I also think that the best way for the base of the sims 5, is to revitalize the gameplay world of everyday life. It would be so cool if basic things were reinforced and deepened. Things like washing clothes, accumulating clutter around the house, watering the plants so they don't die, cleaning, changing the furniture in the house or the clothes in the closet because they are worn out, checking groceries, HAVING TO LEAVE THE HOUSE TO BUY PRODUCTS AND TOOLS to carry out all these tasks... it would be something so rewarding, and they are small gameplays but that deepen the gameplay.
It would be cool if they brought with it, small gameplay systems that interfere in the game, such as:
    * system of buying and wearing clothes, where the most used ones wear out over time and force the player to discard them or sell or donate the clothes to a thrift store, or even... buy clothes in thrift stores used by others neighborhood sims, that if they were going to buy new ones they would be too expensive.
    * wear and tear system also for furniture, where the most used ones would be discarded or sold at a local flea market, also with the possibility to buy furniture from other sims and save some money. If they were not sold there, they would be discarded in a dump, where other furniture used by sims could also be found there. A dump would bring with it another gameplay...
    * ecological system, where you could reuse and recycle furniture and clothes that are already too worn out to use their materials and produce some handicrafts or upcycling clothes.
*a wind and natural lighting system, where you need to open the windows at home (or have more windows at home) so as not to accumulate dust and prevent sims from getting sicker.
*a decent ingredient system for recipes (finally), not just cooking, but carpentry and more. Country life improved this a bit, but it would be more interesting to come to the base to enjoy the new recipes to be released over time in future mods or expansions. It doesn't have to be complicated, something simple like Zelda BOW did, where it is also possible to experiment with ingredients and discover recipes (discovered recipes are saved, as they are learned)
systems that are already in the game would also be much deeper, like the skill system:
*skill system would be different and would not deliver everything at once, it would just unlock new learning opportunities, example: I start studying painting and learn the basics of painting (level 1), in the next level I unlock the possibility of learning to paint with the watercolor painting technique, so it's like I had to delve into watercolor to learn this (a sub skill), level 2 acrylic painting, level 3 oil paint, etc... Level 1 cooking I release basic recipes, but I would still have to learn them, level 2 or more I release oven recipes, level 3 confectionery recipes, and so on... but I would still need to go further to learn each recipe individually and improve it .
and so on, there would be several ways to deepen the game, and those who don't like these systems could turn it off in the configuration, as they already have in 4.

Make a family usually with a moody teen and I get this whole storyline idea in my head of them having a crush, the crush not liking them back, their crush liking someone else, etc. But it always feels pretty dumb when I realize so much of it is fabricated in my own head, because TS4 has no "crush" or "drama" system. I desperately want something similar to TS2 short-term and long-term relationships to come back. I want my sims to suffer heartbreak lol

We need a travel aspect like going to airport or bus station like we need more than cars, we need real transportation. In the city pack imagine a subway/tube through the city. Ofc these would need an open map ish concept or else I fear they would turn into the abyss that your sims enter but u can’t really do anything about

I would settle for open neighborhoods, in that I can change the structure of the environment, like even if they are only building shells, let me rearrange where they sit and how the lots fit into the neighborhood. Also, no loading screens between lots within a neighborhood. Just go inside the buildings that are availability in the area. Loading screens between neighborhoods, I don't like it but I would deal with it for the openness of each neighborhood. Then I could set up a neighborhood with everything the played household needs to function for the most part and it won't break immersion as you interact with the environment .

Built in get to work and school with your sims( where you do have to have positive actions to graduate or get promoted) ( maybe have variation on work place relationships vs reals friend ships) (have an actual hierarchy at work that impacts how your sims interact with their coworkers and bosses)( for instance maybe your sim gets nervous or has confident moodlet because they are meeting with the big boss)(have your different relationship have a realistic impact on other relationships )

I've been playing Sims since 2003. S4 has been the only version where I've bought most of the DLCs in an effort to get the gameplay I've gotten in previous versions. The only reason i moved to S4 was because S3 didnt work with Windows 10. I was so sad because I loved 3 for the build and S2 for the game play.

Something New that sims haven't thought of at all is introducing a zoo, career as a zooligist, a petting zoo... Also anentire shopping mall on alot where every shop and restuarant can be used for what they are instead of just making the lot a "bar". New sports, add water polo, jockey racing, gholf courses, a country club, a tennis court, lifeguard career/search and rescue. Different worlds that are not US inspired, why not Africa, New Zealand, Mauritius, Iceland, Sweden, Australia, South Africa... Another few things would be: Safari tours, lodges/hotels and motels and being able to run the, for instance buying a rundown hotel and reviving it, wine countries. making wine and selling it to restaurants/shops, wine tasting... Better and more realistic CAS and Build/Buy items, following what is in trend at the time. Fashion Design career, Architecture career, MORE REALISTIC HIGH SCHOOL, Principal as a career: see how it will be to run a school, teacher meetings, teaher meaating parents and telling them your child is failing, creating a 7 period school day system where your child needs to go to 7 classes and see 7 different teachers, overall a more realistic school life... Being an Au Pair and traveling to a different foreign world to do so, study through a University in that world. Put all occults back into 1 expansion pack, bring back zombies, add angels, dragons, a school where witches and warlocks learn their magic, an 1890's victorian inspired world and gameplay, realistic animal heights for differnt animal breeds like dogs for example, Make parenthood, pets and high school part of the basegame, add a country club with a hotel, swimming pool, playground, horse stables and racing track, a gholf course and a casino.Better Basegame houses and households. Uptown, downtown and suburbs sections, close to 24+ lots in a worlds, biggest lots being 120x150 or 180x200. Definitely careers that haven't been introduced yet. Under the sea world where mermaids actually live, sea life (Animals), animal shelters and a creer in volenteering, old age homes, Jurassic World where you can have a lot of different types of careers, and many many more ideas where this comes from...

I want random things happening to come back. TS3 was so unpredictable and the weirdest things would happen.
Open world is debatable for me because it can be done. They did it in TS2 and that was fine but for whatever reason in TS4 it feels so locked in and bland.
I want better community lots that I don’t have to place myself. Have actual things to do etc. it shamefully took me so long to realize in dine out you had to place them yourself as if there’s really any space to do so… I forgot I even purchased that.
Lastly a game I don’t have to fill with mods to get that realism. I played TS3 for years without mods and enjoyed it before breaking down and putting them in my game.

Honestly, I want the chaos back. Burglars, raccoons, all kinds of neighborhood drama. Babies that could be taken away very easily. Military school for bad grades. Negative traits from growing up badly. All that kind of jazz. I mainly build in the Sims 4. But the randomness in the gameplay the former titles provided is just not there.

I think if Sims 5 had sth similar to open neighbourhoods (like every world has multiple neighboruhoods and travelling between neighbourhoods will bring a loading screen but travelling inside that one neighbourhood no loading screen) it will be more likely called "create a neighbourhood" and you create all the neihbourhoods you want and then merge them together for one world

We NEED the prices to go down on sims 4 produce. Like one singular egg cost 60 simoleons. We also need more options to buy food, I feel like wanting to buy groceries shouldn’t have to be an expansion pack. On the topic of expansion packs, They’re so expensive!!! Yes I know that there’s discounts but there’s no way we have to spend $40 for a little fun in our game. The base game itself is not exactly interesting.

It was my 9th Birthday when my dad got me the Sims 1 for my birthday. I always was big in Computer Games but this just changed my world and I immediately became obsessed with the possibilities of the game. When sims 2 came out, I exactly remember how I saved up the money, excitedly took my bike to the store to buy it, and how overwhelmed I was by the leap the game took. Same thing with sims 3 which opened a whole new world (no Ariel pun intended).
But when i was able to afford (!) sims 4 after it came out I was so disappointed. So many features from the third part where missing and made the game and sims feel lifeless.. and almost ten years later they actually did not manage to bring back this excitement I had in every other stage of development… and the whole milking the cash cow with a new pack every 5 seconds thing just makes me sad for new/ young simmers who feel the need to keep up. So I have a lot of expectations for sims 5 but actually I already say goodbyes emotionally and am looking forward to competitors who actually care for the community.
Anyways, thanks for your honest and entertaining videos and reviews. Lots of love.

The open neighbourhood is a must. And I mean, a MUST. I skipped the whole Sims 4 because I simply couldn't stand the loading screens and the impression of everything being disconnected - and frankly, if I wanted to play a game in which I spend most of my time in the same lot (home), I I would load up the vastly superior game which is Sims 2.
Also, total open world would be possible, if EA hired more competent programmers. There used to be mods and unofficial patches which made the Sims 3 run like a charm on most computers (unfortunately, most have not been updated in a long time), mine included, with all packs and store content installed, which is the proof that the performance issues were mostly due to EA's very poor optimization skills and the spaghetti code they created.

the main things for me is that drama and personalities need to make a come back. the sims in the sims 4 are so bland and traits don’t mean anything. i try to create drama and it always falls flat because they just don’t care like your husband just cheated on you with your best friend why don’t you care?

  • @fish_toof

I think one problem I have with The Sims 4 is that there is *too* much freedom in defining who your Sim is and how they interact with other Sims. I think implementing a system similar to the mod that naturally determines your Sim's proficiency or lack of in certain skills would be a great imrovement to the Sims 5. I feel that it's too easy to create a ~perfect~ Sim, which quickly becomes monotonous. The Sims 4 is too easy overall.
I would also like to see a more in-depth relationship system. For instance, if your Sim has a negative interaction with another Sim, they would develop a dislike towards each other until they "make up" for it. Alternatively, your Sim might simply dislike another Sim without any particular reason. I think incorporating these aspects would make the game much more interesting and could really improve on the Sims 4.

In my opinion, the Sims 5 really needs an open world. Let me have my sim walk, bike, or even drive anywhere in the world. With the world's feeling alive. Sims start dating, get married, have kids, move into empty houses etc
I want to see a controllable first-person mode. Let me go into first person and walk around the world. Interact with objects, sims etc.
I want to see online being a big part of the sims. Loading into a friend's world with my selected sim and exploring their world. How fun would it be if we could have connected worlds. Make online lobbies where you could meet and chat with other players.
I also wish we had more control over time. Make the days longer/shorter. For example if I want to set my in-game world so that a 24 hour span was 1 hour real time, I should be able to do this. Throwing parties, taking your sim to the gym, etc, can feel rushed.
I want to see a better photo mode. Especially for us console players. Let me take screenshots, or in game photos and use them as pictures for walls and whatnot. Gives us the ability to take family/couples photos using real poses. Let us control things like shutter speed, aperture, iso, depth of field etc.
And most important thing they have to do is have a full game. They need to take a lot of things from the sims 4 and put them into the sims 5. High School, university for example. Have these in the sims 5. And if they want to expand of them later with DLC, go for it. But it's an important part of life. So for a life sim.. they should be base game things.

I miss being able to crash parties, have jobs that let you visit lots like the fire fighters, or even visiting the bookstore to purchase books. like you mentioned, the open world and the small mundane things was what made the previous sims games so immersive - which is what's sorely lacking in Sims 4 where everything is so easily accessible and lifeless.
A small thing i had wanted in Sims 4 was the ability to get invited to and attend npc sims' weddings/events. sure it's fun to have your sims get married and host the weddings, or any events/parties but for once i'd love to attend these as a guest, and not be host, ya know? it's these little things not controlled by us that makes the game come to life.
