The editing was super good on this, not too over the top, but detailed enough that we could actually follow what was going on in the game, i find that's a difficult thing to get right with magic games, so well done guys!
This was great, I think you guys did a fantastic job of explaining what was going on while still being entertaining. Most MTG stuff is either one or the other.
Also Planeswalkers do not count as players however any spell or ability that deals non-combat damage to an enemy player, may be redirected towards their planeswalker instead. So if you have a creature that pings for 1 damage to opponent on tap, you can have that damage be redirected towards their planeswalker.
It's a good card, but it's very slow in comparison to other 3 cost creatures. If you have time to attack with it few times and block a few times, it's really good.
Gotta say, if I was teaching a friend to play magic, I would probably show them this video. It's just two people enjoying a game, yeah, but you're focusing on the basics and having fun, and that's a good thing for a new player.
Mr Ballrace1 There are so many rules in magic that if you start playing cards that affect the "stack" things start going wonky but that mostly happens in commander games.
OddJaguar15 And is a worse version. Seriously, even if your opponent has less creatures than you, if you have realy low life total, he can just crush you and you can't do anything to prevent it from happening. And all the decks are tempo based since you are guaranteed to have one extra mana (or however it's called) each turn. And there are no instants. And creatures don't heal up at all. And because of worse gameplay paper version of Hearthstone didn't work and critically failed. All it ever was is cool and shiny game with cool sound effects and animations. And if we get Magic: The Gathering Arena Mobile, which is possible because it can be converted to all platforms, Hearthstone will lose it's popularity more and more.
Hey this was pretty good! I'm looking forward to more magic the gathering content cause magic is just awesome! Thanks for repping such a great game, I hope it brings more players to magic!
i'm happy to see one of my favorite channels playing Mtg, especially since i just found out this week that due to financial problems my LGS can no longer keep the shop open on Friday evenings for fnm :(
So awesome to see MTG on this channel, hope we get too see more soon, or perhaps have it be turned into a mini series like Kim did with Pokemon TCG! :D
I can't stop staring at that giant fish on the wall. It's elegance is mesmerizing. A fierce battle is underway and it somehow manages to take me far away from the ongoing duel.
5:50 There's plenty of evidence to support that deck thinning through fetchlands is negligible(or at least not noticeable until turn 20+). That also applies to ramp spells. So ramp spells are for increasing land count on battlefield, no need to mention thinning as part of ramp.
For anyone wishing to learn to play MTG, when Spireside Infiltrator becomes tapped it deals 1 to each opponent, you can redirect that 1 from the opponent, to the Planeswalker, without going into specifics.
You don't have the planeswalker out to the side like that for a game, that I know of anyways. Could be wrong. Either way, love that you guys are playing this. Would LOVE to see more. Maybe with you trying different gameplay styles? Like Vanguard, planeswalk, or more? Heck, maybe make it chaotic by combining some of them.
Not being massively familiar with Magic beyond knowing it's a pretty long-lived card game I understood exactly none of this video...I still enjoyed it though, because I appreciate general nerdy things...and card games...and games night...
The Term Mulligan actually comes from a Golfer called David Mulligan in the 1920s, who would take a "Correction Shot" after making a poor Tee Shot, his friends named the practice after him, the use of the term became widespread afterwards,
Mulligan has origins in both Golf, and Pinball, even further back than MTG. Simply put, it is a term that evolved to mean you need to re-attempt a blunder or you are taking a "freebie" to correct a mistake.
The judge should probably have mentioned that while the planeswalker doesn't count as an opponent, you can choose to have the damage from a spell or ability be dealt to a planeswalker that player controls instead. He did answer the exact question asked, but I think what Lewis wanted to know was if he could hit the plansewalker with the tap damage.
I stopped playing mtg a while ago and just got back into Pokemon. Watching this however is making me miss magic XD may have to find my decks out again, darn you guys
Oh, and Lewis, there was something else you could have done. You could have assigned two blockers or more to a single attacking creature, then decide how to split the damage among your creatures. They'd still get the damage, but with the proper managing, they may have lived.
So frustrating to be playing red and your opponent to be sitting at four for so long and not draw the burn spell you need. If he had been able to use his planeswalker twice it would have been game, and given that you can use it when it comes out he really just needed one turn where Sjin wasn't being so aggressive and he could have taken it. Well played on Sjin's part.
When Sjin sent everything back to their hands Lewis put his artifact vehicle in his hand when he shouldn't have. It is only an artifact creature until end of turn, and it was Sjin's turn. The dragster should have stayed on the board
I'd love if you guys had some onscreen scoresheet or something to help us keep track of who has how many health points and whatnot. Otherwise, thank you so much for doing Magic!
i love lewis way of informing us of the sponsoring
He does it that way so TB wont bitch about it.
You have to make this clear by law. So why not doing it in a creative way.
or because the laws changed in the UK and they have to do it this way.
TB??
TotalBiscuit
HOLY SHIT YOGSCAST ARE PLAYING MAGIC!!!!!
Luca Scanu MY TWO FANDOMS ARE COMING TOGETHER!!
Luca Scanu now watch them absolutely butcher the game
Lewis and Simon have played it before, but it was the video game version, and not table top.
playing it badly
Luca Scanu Same here!
OH! HELLS! YES!
TheManaSource ayyyyyy small world
Neat
Hey Wedge. Nice to see familiar channels in comment sections. Love the deck techs.
Holy shit! Wedge watches the Yogscast?!?!?!?!
Wedge watches the yogscast?!?
That bit with the megaphone at the start never fails to make me laugh
"sjin told me this so naturally I thought it was a troll" pauls respect has diminished, it's that old fable of the boy who trolled wolf.
especially since he started the game with that bullshit Mulligan story.
Yeah XD The term was used in golf long before MTG existed.
It was used in golf, but in an entirely different way.
If it's not true, then where did Mulligan thingy came from ?
Haven't said anything in a while but.
Has anyone noticed that G+ is gone from UA-cam? The little bell only shows video notifications now.
its not gone, youtube is currently buggy, so the youtube notifications just fixes the bug where you cant see subbed tubers posts
Sure, but getting rid of comment notifications probably wasn't the best idea.
if you log into gmail you can still see them
You can also just go to G+, which I strongly dislike doing, but it's what must be done.
MrAntieMatter ikr, UA-cam just doesn't like people who like to comment as much as us
wow, yu gi oh has changed a lot since i was a kid
Yeah I don't even recognise any of these pokemon any more.
Steampunk Smilodon I'm confused...aren't you supposed to say "Let it rip!" before you start the match?
Huh, looks like Bakugon uses dice now. I wonder why.
I don't remember any of these digimon.
This is the weirdest game of poker I've ever seen.
Full separate series please, thank you kindly! xD
The editing was super good on this, not too over the top, but detailed enough that we could actually follow what was going on in the game, i find that's a difficult thing to get right with magic games, so well done guys!
Love the time they've put into this. Really one of the clearest and entertaining Magic vids on youtube.
I floop the pig! Oh, wrong game.
You don't floop a creature to make it fight. You activate a creature.
Yogscast Games Night is better than what Geek & Sundry's Tabletop has become.
lol i almost agree
That's because G+S is full of arrogant SJW pricks.
Pattoe - yup exactly!
Hmmm
I love how the cards come up on the screen. cause I know nothing about these cards but it's so fun to watch. More I say!
This was great, I think you guys did a fantastic job of explaining what was going on while still being entertaining. Most MTG stuff is either one or the other.
Loved this style of games night, surprising informative for someone who has never played Magic before but wants to start XD Hoping to see more videos.
Amazingly fun video to watch, time really flew by watching this. Keep up the great work guysh!
I love the room they have with the giant eal
Also Planeswalkers do not count as players however any spell or ability that deals non-combat damage to an enemy player, may be redirected towards their planeswalker instead. So if you have a creature that pings for 1 damage to opponent on tap, you can have that damage be redirected towards their planeswalker.
Good game! The 3 mana, vigilence, flying, lifelink card is OP for it's cost and rarity imo
It's a good card, but it's very slow in comparison to other 3 cost creatures. If you have time to attack with it few times and block a few times, it's really good.
i love magic so much. and to see you guys playing it makes me very happy
Gotta say, if I was teaching a friend to play magic, I would probably show them this video. It's just two people enjoying a game, yeah, but you're focusing on the basics and having fun, and that's a good thing for a new player.
Wow, people might say I'm a scrub. But hearthstone really is just a less complicated version of magic.
Yes, thats exactly what it is.....
Every card game after magic is just a less complicated version of magic.
magic isn't even that complicated, hearthstone is just way simpler to make matches faster.
This makes me super happy. I love magic the gathering and you guys are awesome so its really great that you guys are playing it
More Yogs playing Magic please!
I tried to get these guys to play magic like 3 years ago so glad they finally are
YES YES YES YES YES YES!!! I REQUESTED THIS ON SJINS CHANNEL ON TWITCH AND ITS CAME TO PASS! I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH
Awesome to see the new cards and incredibly good game. Definitely want more of these.
I really enjoyed this! If you guys could do more of you guys playing the game, that'd be awesome! Maybe some EDH as well?
Hey this was pretty good! I'm looking forward to more magic the gathering content cause magic is just awesome!
Thanks for repping such a great game, I hope it brings more players to magic!
YES!!!!!! Games night is back, thank god. please let it continue for a long time i love games night so much
I love that Mulligan story! I once tried googling the term to see where it came from and I found nothing, so I'm glad I finally know what it means.
Isn't it crazy that Lewis is in 2 locations at once in this video...absolutely insane...
i'm happy to see one of my favorite channels playing Mtg, especially since i just found out this week that due to financial problems my LGS can no longer keep the shop open on Friday evenings for fnm :(
So awesome to see MTG on this channel, hope we get too see more soon, or perhaps have it be turned into a mini series like Kim did with Pokemon TCG! :D
The artwork for magic is 'KING' in all forms of card games
I can't stop staring at that giant fish on the wall. It's elegance is mesmerizing. A fierce battle is underway and it somehow manages to take me far away from the ongoing duel.
that fucking hyena is an ace pilot
They've got a copy of the Lovecraft compendium "Necronomicon" beneath a monstrously big fish. How very droll.
LEWIS
YOU NEVER
CHOOSE DRAW OVER PLAY
Unless you're playing control and are in need of a addition card draws for land, there is little reason to ever draw over play.
Manaless Dredge begs to differ ;)
Michael Marshall Dammit, got me there.
This ad worked incredibly well, I want to play Magic again haha.
MTG? This is the fastest I've clicked a video in I don't know how long!
I'm so glad Games Night is back!!!
I love it when Lewis does that little whistle haha 1:16
Heard Lewis' return phone call to Trott on the Hats' music stream tonight Tons of Lewis notes are up at my Yogs Tumblr!
Really enjoyed this! Well presented, well paced, well played.
THAT'S NOT LEWIS! THAT'S FILBERT!
Yogscast plus magic?! My two most favourite things
5:50 There's plenty of evidence to support that deck thinning through fetchlands is negligible(or at least not noticeable until turn 20+). That also applies to ramp spells. So ramp spells are for increasing land count on battlefield, no need to mention thinning as part of ramp.
I enjoy seeing people play like this ( and the Spellsligner serie ) more than pros playing. Way more entertaining hehe
The Chandra Kaladesh deck is great. Such an awesome planeswalker
Also, that barge gives you some card-draw
For anyone wishing to learn to play MTG, when Spireside Infiltrator becomes tapped it deals 1 to each opponent, you can redirect that 1 from the opponent, to the Planeswalker, without going into specifics.
a "mulligan" pre-dates magic the gathering!! (if not already mentioned)
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG. OMG TY!
The Yogs playing magic is perfect!!!! More please!
looking forward to seeing more of this Magic games with Yogscast.
Not being massively familiar with Magic beyond knowing it's a pretty long-lived card game I understood exactly none of this video...I still enjoyed it though, because I appreciate general nerdy things...and card games...and games night...
Ahhh, nature versus machines... what a good battle
Please make this a regular series, there aren't nearly enough casual magic shows on youtube
I clicked for yogscast. I stayed for the amazing commentary. BTW I have no idea whats happening but it looks hella fun!
2:00
I thought he was talking about Lewis. I didn't see the fish. And he then said "5th largest Conga Eel" and I was so confused lmao
THE INTRO!!! Get's me every time!
Yay Lewis and Sjin playing together. The best.
rip Lewis.
I can't be the only one that would love to watch more MTG
Please do more of this, great fun!
Fun Fact: The wizards hand sign Sjin flashes in the beginning is also the gang sign of a White Supremacist Gang.
Conceding a match is called a ''Duncan'.
man, watching this is giving me the itch to get back into magic.
sjin sounds exactly like my physics teacher lol
2 of my favorite yogs together AWESOME!
yayyy yogscast and MTG, two of my favorite things together!
The Term Mulligan actually comes from a Golfer called David Mulligan in the 1920s, who would take a "Correction Shot" after making a poor Tee Shot, his friends named the practice after him, the use of the term became widespread afterwards,
YES YES YES YES I HAVE WANTED THIS SO BADLY THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING
I looked up conger eel and I now know how to catch and prepare a king crab.
Awesome, I'd love to see a Lewis vs Simon match like the one you did years ago!
Mulligan has origins in both Golf, and Pinball, even further back than MTG. Simply put, it is a term that evolved to mean you need to re-attempt a blunder or you are taking a "freebie" to correct a mistake.

I stopped playing mtg a while ago and just got back into Pokemon. Watching this however is making me miss magic XD may have to find my decks out again, darn you guys
I have no idea how to play Magic, but I enjoy watching this
They played that quite well. Surprised me. A few little mistakes but nothing drastic
Never expected the yogscast would be playing MTG. I aprove.
Oh, and Lewis, there was something else you could have done. You could have assigned two blockers or more to a single attacking creature, then decide how to split the damage among your creatures. They'd still get the damage, but with the proper managing, they may have lived.
Two of the best things smashed together
My two favourite things, Yogscast and MTG!
Also Magic is the wow of card games lol
As it it's the best of its kind, but that doesn't make it good? And you have to play it for 40 hours before you start enjoying it?
As in they sap the entirety of your life and keep releasing expansions you can't afford?
Been waiting for this for so long! MTG is amaaazing.
I'm so happy that Lewis and sjin play mtg
IVE WAITED FOR THIS AND NOW IT IS HERE
"I can't wait to see your gigantic thing" - Sjin (from the Yogscast), 2016
gotta love when your dog can drive
Woooo games night is back!
Omg the classic mini Lewis from the mini block challenge thing! Ah memories
From the block and load challenge 2
So frustrating to be playing red and your opponent to be sitting at four for so long and not draw the burn spell you need. Yeeeaaa! I've been hoping for years that they would play Magic.
I'd watch more of this.
That was the most friendly game of magic I've ever seen.
was fun watching you guys play some magic :P
Awesome! Great video guys! Keep up the great work!
I had no idea what was going on but I loved it
I'd love if you guys had some onscreen scoresheet or something to help us keep track of who has how many health points and whatnot. Otherwise, thank you so much for doing Magic!
