Nobody cares if you see a movie alone. It's a giant dark room. If you haven't gone to a matinee and had the entire theater to yourself, you're missing out.
Seeing movies in mostly empty theaters is the best... Usually no kids either... Matinees on a weekday during the school year are the best... No having to be bothered by other people...
I went alone and I'll admit I did feel weird walking out of that movie alone. I thought it was gonna be a little more gritty and a little less of a kids movie. Enjoyed it overall though, they got the comedy right at least.

Can be considered somewhat misunderstood. But there's pretty much on the Riddler level - a device to show the main hero's their mistakes. The rest are pretty obvious assholes. Joker would fit this description way more also lol.
@@Dominian1 If he had been chosen for a reason that would have partially invalidated the villains grip and made it make so sense for the hero to totally screw around with his powers for most of the movie. Villains should be beaten because of their flaw, that is what makes them villains. If the good guys were just more powerful than the villain was it would terribly boring and the villain even taking on the good guys would make no sense. Though I agree the ending dragged on just a bit too long.

"Mister Mind" (the alien caterpillar to which you refer) is one of the most exceptional DC Villains ever, too. Marvel tries, but they can never outdo DC Comics for sheer... "weirdness!" DC is the reigning title holder of that belt, and always will be.

Bearded Jay defeated Hobbit Jay in honorable combat through a long discussion in order to see who was the bigger snob by upping each other, referencing the most obscure and weirdest shit they had seen. I was there, it was a battle for the books.
I spent years working in a "Residential Childrens Home" which is essentially an orphanage and I noticed that they really loved the movie Like Mike bc it was about a kid from an orphanage getting these amazing powers. I think Shazam could have similar impact on kids in that situation. I like movies that show not evey kid has a loving family behind them. Some kids have it rough and they need any help they can get.
Saw Shazam with my family. They loved it, but my mom especially loved the final gag.She called the kid's reaction to superman "the best last ten seconds of any movie"

I'm convinced the whole movie depends on the foster parents' performances, and boy oh boy did they work. Loved them and the kids too. If that family wasn't one we all wanted to join, the movie wouldn't have been remotely as good. So kudos for the director giving the movie such a wonderful heart.

(the rest are randomly infomercials and educational tapes and other things that are not movies) sometimes they have guests who are filmakers. The movies are pretty much always cheap direct-to-video B-movies, some of which are horribly boring but fun to riff on, and others they genuinely enjoy.
My favorite part is, when the villain does show up, nobody cares. Everyone around Billy, including the cops, is just walking around and going about there business as this creepy flying man in a trenchcoat appears.

I love the depiction of the foster family because a lot of movies paint foster parents, foster homes, etc. as bad, terrible things and in this movie they show this wonderful, loving foster family with parents that used to be foster kids themselves! I love it❤️

Also fun fact, there were two deleted scenes with Sivana's family where Glover's character was played by two different actors (one when we see Thadeus Sivana as a kid, and then one in the present day) but test audiences didn't realize they were the same character, so they replaced both scenes with new ones with John Glover as the father.

I liked Chuck, but I absolutely hate the way they ended it. They should've stopped at the end of the previous season. That would've been a pretty great way to finish out the show's run IMO.

Zachary Levi is certainly an underrated actor in general, I think it’s because he did 5 seasons of a middling spy TV show in the late 2000’s. He as Flynn rider in tangled was good, and him in Shazam is near perfect.
That movie sucked ass. The Rocketeer was shit. It was shit when it came out and it's shit in 2019. The only decent thing to come from The Rocketeer is the half decent video games about it, and I mean HALF DECENT, not great but not terrible either.

I really liked it. My biggest complaint was that the 7 deadly sins weren't really obviously distinct. With the bright color pallet they used, I wish they made the Sins more obvious. Make Wrath bright red like a fire, make Envy super green, make Greed's 4 hands look like shining gold. They're fake CGI demon monsters that don't have to follow any realism in how they materialize. It might be on the nose, but I think it would work for a movie like this.
I'm a 49yr old man with a wife and two children 11 and 8 and I went to see Shazam by myself! There's nothing wrong with a person going to the movies alone.
What's going on with the VCR? I hate that their story line has so much filler in it. These two frauds are constantly talking about movies, rather than giving us what we want.
Everytime Jay shouts "SHAZAM!" he steals another year of life off of the RLM guys collectively to rejuvenate his youthful looks. On another note the film was a fun time, and remembered that comic book movies are supposed to be fun every now and again.
I am that grown bearded man who went to see it alone. And I loved it. I also grew up watching the TV version of Shazam on Saturday mornings and love comic book movies.

Eventually (due to a deal with Marvel Comics) they just started to call the wizard The Wizard, and Captain Marvel became Shazam. Not sure what that meant for his sidekicks, Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Jr.

I love the depiction of the foster family because a lot of movies paint foster parents, foster homes, etc. as bad, terrible things and in this movie they show this wonderful, loving foster family with parents that used to be foster kids themselves! I love it❤️

@Anony-mousse Yeah, he played Lionel Luther on Smallville for something like seven seasons. I actually thought it was done intentionally as a bit of metacasting to have him once again play the role of the villains father.

Also fun fact, there were two deleted scenes with Sivana's family where Glover's character was played by two different actors (one when we see Thadeus Sivana as a kid, and then one in the present day) but test audiences didn't realize they were the same character, so they replaced both scenes with new ones with John Glover as the father.

Zachary Levi is certainly an underrated actor in general, I think it’s because he did 5 seasons of a middling spy TV show in the late 2000’s. He as Flynn rider in tangled was good, and him in Shazam is near perfect.
He also voiced Arcade Gannon! One of my fav characters in Fallout. Great voice performances by him there

I really liked it. My biggest complaint was that the 7 deadly sins weren't really obviously distinct. With the bright color pallet they used, I wish they made the Sins more obvious. Make Wrath bright red like a fire, make Envy super green, make Greed's 4 hands look like shining gold. They're fake CGI demon monsters that don't have to follow any realism in how they materialize. It might be on the nose, but I think it would work for a movie like this.

What's going on with the VCR? I hate that their story line has so much filler in it. These two frauds are constantly talking about movies, rather than giving us what we want.
Everytime Jay shouts "SHAZAM!" he steals another year of life off of the RLM guys collectively to rejuvenate his youthful looks.
On another note the film was a fun time, and remembered that comic book movies are supposed to be fun every now and again.
