NAMM 2020 - Introducing: System 55 Modular Synthesizer
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- Let’s switch on the time machine and go back to the sound of the 1970s. Introducing: Our Modular 55, 35 & 15 Series! We’ve got more than 20 modules for you - all authentic reproductions of the circuitry from the “Modular 55, 35 & 15" Series. And all brought to the Eurorack standard but still staying true to the era with some specific features.
That warm sound was loved by Artists from Tangerine Dream to Depeche Mode. And an earlier version used by Wendy Carlos on the famous album “Switched on Bach”. That brought the sound of synthesisers into mainstream music and became basically the founding father of all synths in pop music.
#NAMM2020
Man. My arm is getting tired from holding Behringer’s beer.
Brian Doub lol! True
Right? Behringer used to be the guys who made the cheap guitar pedals. And they had a few mixers and whatnots that weren't too expensive. Now they're they're just killing it. Jumped into the synth world with both feet and they're killing it.
@@PaulTheSkeptic they're literally going to kill it if they keep copying other people's designs.
@@Dj.Jovino Crave is a clone of the Moog Mother-32 (which is a recent product) and the Deepmind is inspired by the Roland Juno 60.
i own none of their synths but they might be my fav synth maker....how many years people beg roland for some new analogue stuff and finally these guys do that...
Buchla 200 series modules with affordable prices would be a dream come true!
Yes, we need some West Coast action!
Now THAT is a great idea.
Get the software version by Arturia for $ 149.00
@@Seekthetruth3000 I have the Arturia V collection that Includes their version of the Easel ( not the same as 200 series, mind you ). It dounds decent but it doesn't have the tactile feel of hardware unit so it falls miserably short.
@@NauEktila Well, if money is not a problem, you can buy a real Buchla but, for a lot of us, the software version is simply a great money saver. Or, you can buy a brand new Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms SV-1B Eurorack Analog Synthesiser Module for about $600. It is a great synth.
Me looking at the system 100 yesterday: this is gonna be sick
Me looking at the system 55 today: absolute mad lads
I WANNA BUYBUYBUY
Please take a chill pill Behringer, I don't have this much money every week..
Behringer, please never take a chill pill!!!
No, keep it going. We've waited decades for these.
Ancient Golem yeah I have to agree with littlegee - I'm absolutely STOKED by what Behringer is doing! Just got my Model D a week ago and I can't wait to start getting the system 100 and system 55 modules. Words can't even describe how fantastic their releases have been the last several years with all of these analog Synth recreations!
Better yet we're all able to work on this nostalgic gear but with new parts & components foregoing all of the headaches and tuning issues and maintenance of the actual 50 year old gear. STOKED!!! 🤘
I really like the way this brand found its identity again ! In the past hey used to be mocked by other brands but the past years have seen them going straight up ! Never have I ever seen such a beautiful rise up in the game like theirs! From now on it will only get better and better and this is because they hear us!
@@mgscheue Every business hears that, the way Behringer rose from a b-class cheapo brand to an absolute beast in a relatively short time is pretty much unheard of in any business. And the way they still actually take consumer feedback into consideration is amazing and really builds their brand up even further and higher. I sound like I was on their payroll, but this shit's just been too amazing recently.
They just need a new logo
Seems like they’ve found everyone else’s identity.
They haven't risen up. They started making knockoffs of other manufacturers products and they continue the same thing today.
Found who's identity? They sure haven't defined their own.
HOLY HELL - Yes please.
The Champions of synthwave have endorsed behringer? It's getting real now!!
For years i've wanted a moog modular 55, but i always figured i'd have to lose an
leg or a kidney. So glad Behringer made this in modular form.
Gunship wants it, count me in too !
The sheer quantity of products at such a rapid pace is mindblowing
Roland to Behringer: "You're chasing ghosts...you can't do this..." :-)
@@Aetila I guess they are doing much more than just chasing... they are catching the ghosts- The new ghostbusters! :))
quality > quantity.
@@ehafh For SOME things, and in an ideal world, sure. For the vast majority of things nowadays in the REAL world, quantity > quality whether we like it or not. There are also plenty of cases of low quality aND low quantity: bad writer who only writes ONE novel, and fails. Besides, they are not necessarily always mutually exclusive.
Would like to see "how to start modular for beginners in depth". It looks so complicated but I would like to start modular
Jörg Dähler buy them all and star patching 😃 eventualy you will buy them all.
I would like to see the neutron, deepmind12, and model d with additional module ideas to take it to another level, yes I'm also a beginner so giving basic lessons we can follow would be fantastic. How to and lesson videos are a great addition to this channel, thanks to you and the team for taking the time to make quality videos.🤗
Here is a great playlist that also uses the free vcv rack software which is a free way to learn modular workflow. ua-cam.com/play/PLiECaNQx239s0Z1WmH5jQAcEZf3mLLHnX.html
It's less complicated than you might think.
You just have to imagine the signal flow you want and patch the needed inputs and outputs.
If you want a simple sound, just patch the output of an oscillator to the input of a filter and then the output of the filter into the input of a vca and then the output of the vca to your recording interface.
Same goes for modulation signals.
I'd say, if you can handle a synth with a modulation matrix, you can handle a modular synth.
Btw. Andrew Huang put out a good "how to start modular" video.
2 entire modular systems in 2 days? You're killing me!
We absolutely need huge multi channel mixer in eurorack format to add all of these goodies for our existing racks. It needs 12+ channels, aux, pan and mute - each with cv control!
syv2un1 clickless mutes plzzzzz
Yep
Despite the space cost, I can see a big as 84hp mixer working pretty well if it was tricked out enough to be worthwhile.
"How to use Home Equity Lines of Credit to acquire a synth spaceship room" by Behringer
do a video on this topic as a marketing parody - would be really funny...
Congrats Behringer! Congrats people!!!
awesome! would love to see the arp 2500 modules, that would be amazing!
Yea, That would be rad.
Thinking ahead, you may want to make a folding bracket to hold two of the Eurorack Go cases... Just imagine the space station.
Oh, and in terms of requested modules? Please throw some Klark Teknik / TC in a euro panel with some CV. A lot of the TC pedals would make killer euro modules... think TC Triple Delay etc.
Good suggestion! Take the Deepmind fx, move it to eurorack.
I was just dreaming of converting my TC 3x Flashback into a rackmount yesterday.
YESSS!!! THIS!
This!!!
This! Would love this module. Already using my flashback with modular for months
Insane! Behringer is becoming THE company to follow for synth lovers. The System 55... at home.... When I think about Tangerine Dream on stage... I was sick about Froese modular... And now it can be at home, the same (or almost the same)... Thanks Behringer !
No VST on Earth (or in the Galaxy) will give you the same feelings than a System 55 ! (and a 100m Roland too)
FINALLY! The Holy Grail of Synthesizers is here in Behringer Livery :D
Behringer has to be putting Korg Roland Yamaha and other companies back to the drawing board. changing the way they do business because behringer are straight killing it
I agree. Those other companies have to be kinda worried. Moog sub25 for $800? Really....
Ill stick with behringer
Currently it looks more like they are simply copying what others had on the drawing board decades ago?
@@fonitronik but for thousands less putting it into the hands of way more people. It's revolutionary and the other two have been giving us shit with the exception of Korg. But where's a polysix reissue? But also where's a bcr2000 reissue? I'm up for whoever can get me a real cs80 for less than 4,000 new.
@@fonitronik very true. I figure it is easier. Maybe even cheaper to copy a old design instead of coming up with something new. Behringer do add more features then the original and its still cheap. Odyssey is a great example if that.
fonitronik exactly that! Give the peeps what they want. Amazing tried and tested gear that doesn’t cost the same as a small used car! Allowing peeps that aspire- but usually can’t go there- to be able to take part. For me tho, the biggest thing is that the prices of some of the original gear is a piss take and creates this whole elitist vibe that to my mind doesn’t belong in music. Last off, I think it’s important that we encourage the youth to create as opposed to destroy and this type of philosophy within this capitalist paradigm is both heart warming and encouraging for the future to say the least. A kid into production with a part time job can save up and own these amazing tools. I kno, some hippie biz but hey I love when we can all participate. :)
Never thought I’d be impressed by Behringer. Love this!
I've been putting off delving into Eurorack modular because of the cost. It looks like this will be my way in. Thank you, Behringer, for opening the door for many of us.
We don't deserve you BEHRINGER, you are too kind for this world
Having worked with the original Moog model 55 back in the early 70's, I can say that if you want to learn how sound is created and modulated this is probably the best teaching tool you can buy. If you want to play music, on the other hand, this type of unit can be VERY time consuming and being analog, not perfectly reproducible as you cannot "save" the sounds you make unless you write out charts of where every cable goes and exactly what position the knobs are in. Many of us cheered quite loudly when digital came into use- for good reason. It allowed us to focus on the music rather than the equipment. That said, I do look back on my time with this unit fondly, and it did give me an excellent understanding of how to shape and control sound.
I almost cried watching this video. Been wanting a system 55 since I was 20.
don't forget, it's not the same build quality, nor the same sound quality
@@synthesizerhome2041 What are you basing this on? You have a Behringer system 55 already?
@@aeko I have a real Minimoog and a Behringer model D
@@synthesizerhome2041 Well I gotta tell you. I own 28 vintage analog synthesizers. I bought a Model D and tested it next to the Moog Model D from 1973. It was an exact match. I verified over a two day trial. It was supreme. Behringer is not playing games.
@@synthesizerhome2041 Why would you buy both a Minimoog AND a Behringer model D? (not even called that). I smell a lie.
Thanks for making all the CV routing modules, those are more useful and an integral part of the Moog Modular system then most people realize.
Absolutely the best thing I could have possibly heard right now
Thank you so much guys and gals . The north west U.K. and Germany do it again .
Can’t wait to build my system 55
1:52 Ohhhh.... the fixed filter bank. Yes! Next from Behringer: A Moog 1630 Bode Frequency Shifter for the same price as a Boss chorus pedal. This is all so awesome!
Please, BEHRINGER, hope you make four more modules, which are extremely important to the real original MOOG sound: 1. the crucially important original Moog 901 VCO [with obviously 21st century temp. tuning compensation]... BUT NOT CORRECTING THE ORIGINAL LITTLE INACCURACIES THAT "COLOUR" ITS SINE WAVE & THE NOT 'PERFECTLY SQUARE' PULSE WAVE... THOSE ARE "KILLER" SOUNDING!!!; 2. the Moog 904C Filter Coupler [super amazing!!!]; 3. the Moog 984 Four Channel Mixer; & 4. obviously, the The Moog 905 Reverberation Unit... These are of PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE & RELEVANT to the character of Moog IIIc (the best sounding machine Moog ever made, imho). ...THANK YOU BEHRINGER!!
Mooger foogers ! Massive reverbs ! Wooden cases please !
Got to say, these look the business... stylish and uncomplicated. Nice job Behringer!
It also sounds a bit polite , system 100 ones sounded more characterful , its of course first impression , if you put it in a minimoog configuration it will cost more than model d and i suspect it is identical just split in several modules
I mean, they're clones of the original Moog modules...
I'm feeling so spoiled. Need to expand some rooms in my house now. Behringer are taking the world over by storm!
I'm having the same issue, I have my father building me a "L" shaped desk for my recording stuff and to get some room for the Odyssey which is gigantic. All my pedals are on the floor which I hate. Its a struggle but I could be buying worse things! haha
@@Mr2it3881 Yeah, I reckon space is going to become a practical issue for heaps of people. I'm already at the point where I'm trying to get creative with space (and also had my father build me a desk - thanks, dads!) and would need to get a third patchbay if I wanted more things in etc. so I'm at the point where my GAS is at loggerheads with the reality principle (or should that be realty principle?) but I've been accumulating stuff for the better part of 20 years so this was pretty much a problem for me before Behringer even dropped the Model D. Now, thanks to Behringer's desirable products and low prices, the dream of keeping awesome stuff in cupboards because other awesome things are already occupying your studio space can be realised by all who dare to purchase for pleasure rather than practicality!
@@dammysavis669 Very well said!
You Guys are freaking out of Your Minds -----> How Awesome is this?!!!!!! YES PLEASE!
And Behringer said "let there be light" and there was light
This is a really very Phantastic System! Awesome! No other company dared to reproduce this classic modular. Behringer brings modular for all.
Wow so 31 modules including the system 100 that's awesome ! what a release keep up the good work.
Just when you think your modulargrid “My affordable rack” is finished, Behringer is at it giving another 20 modules!!! This is perfect for schools, just imagine “ this semester we will use the 55-35-15 modular then next one the System 100...attention class, what’s an s trigger?
Ask korg....
You're killing me! A Neutron and some of these modules will be a slam dunk together. I am out of kidneys and low on blood. I guess a 3rd job would be OK as long as I don't want to sleep.
I have dreamt all my playing life of owning something like the System 55 and now it is within my reach. i can't wait.
When will Behringer start selling all these lovely moduls?
So excited for this and the System 100m. Keep it up! Already have the Neutron, D and DeepMind 12D. All excellent. Owned a lot of retro gear and your stuff is right up there with the best of them.
we need demo stores in every city with your gear and advanced modular classes
This feels like a game changer, might bring a lot more musicians into modular..
1:21, RIP headphone users.
Holy f%+king Jesus!!! I think I might need a new phone, 😂
Ouch.
AaaaAaaAAAaaaaaaaaah
That was a tough one. Definitely awake now.
Thank you behringer, I really appreciate what you do for us!;) so please keep on doing it:) you surely got all my spare money;)
Totally psyched about this and System 100! WOW!
This is absolutely awesome!!!!!! Can‘t wait to get my hands on this baby!!!!
Omg you guys are effing me up ! I was tripping yesterday thanks to the system 100 announcement...
and nowww im rolling around feeling bad for my pockets lol
Zpurp: tripping requires ingestion of LSD .🐂💨💨💨
Would love to see some utility and FX modules, e.g. glide, s&h, multiple-stage phase shifter (à la M**gerf**ger), a spring reverb...
Well, it is Eurorack, and you can buy pretty much anything you can imagine. Thats the beauty. Check out Doepfer, they are basically the original Behringer ;-)
Yeah, I know (and also own a couple of Doepfer utility modules), but I would rather prefer to see such kind of modules in the System 55-form factor.
can you imagine being in maybe yer upper sixties and watching synthesis bloom back in your day, and saving up for one system which must have been daunting and watching a video like this today? it's like the old ped on family saying, "holy moly! it must be my birthday!"
The Behringer R&D pitch room for future products:
Engineer: How about a clone of --
Behringer: Whatever! Just do it!
metaspherz - and I’m hoping that they’re realistic and don’t bite off more than they can chew.
I hear a Linn LM-1 in the intro music. Hmmmmmmmm
I see the Eurorack GO has grown from 140 to 142 HP width (Edit: Or has it? It says 142 but at 4:14 it fits 2 Model D perfectly which suggests 140 HP, or is that an older prototype of the GO case?). With the talk about the new power supply, will the GO still have built inn power supply or will it require the CP1A power supply? Also, any word on pricing on the GO case?
I miss some moduls:
905 spring reverb
956 ribbon controller,
959 joystick controller
1125 sample and hold
1630 Bode frequency shifter
6401 Bode ring modulator
So excited!! Everyone prepare yourselves for the massively long back order. 😢
Oh mine something new and exciting every day from you guys
I definitely buy the sequencer
Yeah, I might have to also, maybe ;-)
i will if it powers my 101/102 expander
I hope these are priced the same as the Sys 100 modules.
You guys are becoming the Amazon of the synth world.
In the beginning
I wanted to do an album with the sounds of the fifties
The sounds of the sixties, of the seventies
And then have a sound of the future
And I thought: "Wait a second
I know the synthesizer, why don't I use the synthesizer
Which is the sound of the future"
ua-cam.com/video/zhl-Cs1-sG4/v-deo.html
Def my favorite company right now!!
OMG that looks great! And the sequencer....a classic 960!! Now we are talking business!!
Yes !! Tangerine Dream. Yeahhh. Das ist wunderbar!!!
is Behringer even taking notice of the extreme demand for standalone ultra-sequencers? Prices for used Cirklon's, technically still in production (waiting list)! Only thing comparable is the midibox kit that few have time and/or ability to build. Ridiculously neglected market. Necessary: MANY cv outs, sequence storage, TIMING means more than some apparently realize. Producing something like this doesn't even require you to copy someone else's design. Lots of people with enough synth kit, but their sequencers don't have enough outs, slop timing, not enough controllers (sliders please).
playlist ideale I’ll sell you my P3 if you want.
@@anthonybrett Cirklon used prices/waiting list speaks for itself re: demand for a seq with features I mentioned. Synth market glutted now, the 55 clones would have to sound better than current synths by Moog or existing clones. Listening test is everything. I don't think "everyone" believes clones are "perfect" either.
Thanks for letting the masses get their Moog on!
Would like to see some of the open source modules but with more features!
If that is boring what about some affordable effects processor’s like the gold plated spring reverb algorithm that you were famous for in the 2000’s!
holy crap! behringer this awesome!! 😱🎵🔊👍
Just wondering what the estimated shipping dates for all this new gear will be...
No lo puedo creeeeeeeeeer!!!!!! Grande Uliiii
You guys are gonna take over the other brands with all these releases!
God bless you Behringer...GOD BLESS YOU!!!!
Very nice! Wishlist: Buchla modules (complex OSC), Delay & (Spring) Reverb Modules, Scales, Granular, Looper, Trigger Delay, Divider, Distortion, Trigger Resonater & BP Filter and many many more 😅🔥
I'd appreciate complete sets of 55 and 100 systems along with bis power-supplied Eurorack-cases. These do not necessarily have to offer all of the modules, but could spare packaging, money and reduce the guesswork of combining "standard" 55 systems with all the special attenuator- and driver-modules. I would order a standard 55 as well as a complete 100 kit for sure. It would be best if the case would leave space for third-party-modules.
Also, a stand for combining two big two-row-cases for a 4-row-wall would be appreciated. I will definitely dig into a big modular system-and wait for a cost-effective basis to start with.
Same here!
I'd like to see some sort of ES-8 type interface, that makes integrating from hardware modules to software modules and back incredibly easy! The ES-8 is just so insanely expensive I cant justify it...
BadBeaver or the new es-9 even more expensive haha
Bastis Musikbutze honestly.......didn't know I needed that... lmao
Love the Crave and gonna get a 2nd and after that some of the modular.
Behringer you guys make modular affordable for people on a tight budget and with that my dream to go modular finaly a reality, thanx for that and being first to do so witch means my setup from now on is gonna be more and more mainly your gear.
Since i got into synths and all related things a few years ago and i leared enough so i have had time to learn what is what and was scouting the market but sad everything was far out of my budget range suddenly as if it was destiny your eurorack gear was announced....
Behringer fangirl for life!!!!
I won’t deny that this sounds pretty good. 😺
Just fantastic! Bravo Behringer again!
this im gonna get it!!! congrat Uli and boyzz!
I think an obvious suggestion for types of modules is to take whatever specific feature a particular synth is known and loved for, (the Wasp filter, for example) and make it into a module, perhaps with additional functions. EMS filter!
Taking a few guitar pedals (Rat, digital delay etc) that are commonly hooked into modular systems and making them into a module might be an idea too.
Generally, just make modules of all the best bits of all the best synths... but you already know that.
Hi Behringer, a short story for you, around 2006, I bought a Behringer rackmount compressor, I was never able to get it to work... Defective out of the box, but kept it since I was not able to get a refund, eventually started to get electric shocks from the unit... Ended up putting the unit to thrash... I thought to myself never I going to buy ANY Behringer product! But your recent work with synths made me rethink my position, this week I decided to give it a second chance and ordered the Model D + the 808 remake.
Will see :)
I have a suggestion for you: Change your logo, by updating it to a more professional, classic looking logo you could indicate a clear and official change of your image that fits your recent work. I think it would really help for customers like me who had a bad opinion of your products see that you have a new philosophy. Best of luck and I look forward to testing more of your synths.
I can't imagine what's holding up that Paia 4700 clone.
Speechless! Saving!
A SAMPLER SAMPLER SAMPLER THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE MISSING. WE DEMAND IT NOW!!!!
Some kind of DC coupled audio/Cv USB interface wouldn't go amiss.
Wow, wow, and wow!
I need a giant eurorack oscilloscope in the top right corner!
Korg: releases the Arp 2600
Behringer:
Releases the ARP 2600 for $299.
korg comes out with an arp 2600 mini for 999.00
some decent quantizer with multiple outputs for chord generations and stuff would be cool
yes a buchla easel, buchla 100 and buchla 200 series would be great.
Yeah good call bro. Would love that!
going backwards from the teaser video? 😁RD-9 tomorrow? these modules are killer!!!!
Thanks, Uli!
I'll be making a eurorack 3P look-a-like now. Thanks Behringer!
I’ve managed to stay out of the black hole that is modular for so long because of cost... now I’m starting to cross the event horizon, curse yoooooooooou!
Is there a word for imagining a sound? Because I can already hear the k2 white noise running through that fixed filter bank in my head now. I am always pleasantly surprised by Behringer. I am sure it will be better than I imagine. Or whatever you call hearing a sound in your head you've never experienced. I can't wait to be pleasantly surprised and hear it for real!
It would be awesome to see you guys start cloning "surge" modules!? Like the wave folders and stuff.🎹🎧💫😵👌😎👍
please give us the currently missing IIIC modules. i'd love to fulfill my dreaming of building one without breaking the bank.
and thank you, behringer, for marketing all of these wonderful products! stay healthy and safe, everyone...
All these comment is like a wish to Santa..
Its absolutely amazing Behringer has achieved this!
And delivers ☝🏻🔥🎼🤯
Behringer you are ringing my modulator!
This is just awesome! Yesterday the Roland 100m and today Moog modules.
I’m not normally a big modular fan but I can see myself getting enough to recreate a Moog Model 15 plus the sequencer as well as a small 100m set up.
My only other request would be for a Simmons style drum module - something like the SDSV analog brain. And possibly a linn drum style drum machine.
Absolutely crushing it! Nice that a manufacturer is finally letting us get the gear some of us have been after for decades.
Aweszome! The music shop finely anounced that that have Behringer synths on order. Still outputmixer!
Note quantizer, midi interface, cv controlled ad and adsr(the cv control the decay, attack for example), function generators, drum modules, precision adder, weast coast style moduls.
:)
