- The United Stater Marines are TOUGH! It was an honor to visit Camp Pendleton and train with them for a day. In this video we attempted the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and the Combat Fitness Test (CTF). Normally these are done six months apart, we did them BACK TO BACK!

Which did you find more impressive: the all out 3 mile or the 800m in boots? Also how impressive is Corporal Kubinski?? He's a true competitor and a very impressive athlete. He's on Instagram! instagram.com/zjonti.k
Great work as ever Nick. Great to see you shine in the running-that 800 in boots was really something!
The 800m in boots was pretty impressive!
That 800 in boots was freaking crazy. I can't run that without the boots!
As someone who has done both many times, the 800m in boots is the worst.
Gotta be the 800! Something so nasty about that distance - and it boots. Really enjoyed watching that - Nick you're allowed to put the hammer down mate and not play nice 🤣
Love it when he cheers the marines after ending his own plank. Mark of a sportsman!
yess he's great!
That was cool.
@@dunsmoregaines4239 for sure!
That’s what she said
Not even a good that’s what she said moment wtf
Wow...I'm exhausted just watching that. Kubinsky is exceptionally impressive. Just when I thought progressing from 1 pull-up to 2 pull-ups was a huge achievement, I realize I would not have been able to do any of what these great marines and one bison just did. This may be my favorite Bison video.
That is a huge achievement.
@@jshonio6443 agreed. He doubled his top score!
I could barely knock out 5 when I joined the Marines. I was at the bare minimum. 20 by end of boot camp.
Not only does it help to do pull ups all the time, but to get overall lean. Extra bodyfat makes it harder of course.
If you can only do 2, do that. Then drop down, shake your arms out, give it a break, do 2 more. Repeat until you do 20 a day. Take every other day off. Do cardio to get lean. You'll get there!
On January 1st, 2020, I could do zero pullups. Now I can do 100 in 20 minutes or less. Keep going. Small progress accumulates into huge progress when given enough time.
repent g
Kubinski is really impressive. To just go right into the second fitness team is insane! Go Bison
he is a beast!
He’s a good dude. Went through bootcamp with him. I think he was the only one to run an 18 minute 3 mile in our platoon.
Damn kubinski is an actual monster. He has so much endurance throughout the whole thing and he clearly is using the best of his abilities all the way through.
How bad was it? “That’s pretty bad” Marines are just straight forward 😂😂😂😂
Specially Gunnys😂😂
Why did you call yourself an average civilian? You’re an Olympics competitor, definitely far above average
haha yes thought the same
"I was 2:22. How bad was it?"
"that's pretty bad."
Lol at the honesty. Nick would probably hit the perfect score on planks with a few weeks of dedicated training for it.
I love the honesty!!! TBH I've always been bad at planks :(

Good job on both fitness tests! Congrats on the 21 pull ups!
Yep those pull ups were legit. No so sure about the Marines doing chin ups - but I guess if the rules allow it...
@@PEGF4MG exactly half them were doing chinups and not pullups
@@CMANIZABALLER Either grip is allowed. People usually get more pull ups than chin ups.
I run a 290 PFT and a 294 CFT. Unfortunately for me, my platoon is full of Cpl Kubinskis lol good stuff devil dog!
I usually run 300 300! it was an off day for me and back to back!
For my meritorious Sergeants board I was told the day before the event that I had to run a PFT and CFT back to back. It was no easy task. Ended up with a 298 and a 300 respectively. Props to you for giving this a go and doing so well with it.
I love this guy's energy!!!
Love what you do! Great content.
Thank you Mike!!
You are awesome sir improved from 17 to 21 pull-ups and running as usual super .
he is dedicated!
Such a great content and hard work 😃☺️
The entire thing is different when you change the clothing entirely as well. You seemed to be doing that in your usual workout gear, and the CFT is done in our usual work stuff. Hits a lot harder, different pinch points, and breathing. If you want rough, give that a run but either way. In NO fashion can I undermine how well you did. It was great to see you experience this and I am so glad you got to, and pushed as hard as you did.

What did that have to do with our post
@@mikehill6448 it didn't. People just need to hear it. For the scriptures say, "If anyone hath ears to hear, let him hear."
Thanks for supporting our troops.
The planks/crunches challenge seems a bit easy compared to the pullups and run in the PFT. 21 pullups and 18 min 3-mile are both things you need to train to be able to get, but a lot of people can max the plank/crunches without much or even any training. That beast Madrigal did it in half the time. I haven't tried the CFT events, so I don't know if there are any unbalanced events there too. Kubinsky is a beast. You gotta train them planks & crunches and get a rematch, Bison.
Crunches are definitely the "easiest" of it all, especially for certain body types. If you look at the Marine who did over 100 in a min he's barely moving. The CFT isn't bad overall, but I think my shin splints came back just watching the 800 in boots.
The only cake walk in the CFT is the ammo can. You can use your legs to assist you so much and make it purely a chest/legs workout
Kubinski got that crazyyyy stamina boyyyyy!!!
When he threw the ammo can 🥲 I can Imagine hearing Gunny “did you just throw my f***ing can” lmao

You should and get a good career that would transfer well to civilian life. I would have liked to join them too but I was cursed with asthma so it affects my cardio and they will not let me in. So I now am stuck in finding a trade or going to a police academy.

Doing the CFT right after a PFT is just brutal lol.

Insane amount of effort from all of the Marines and especially you and Cpl Kubinsky. Doing both events back to back must've been killer for the legs, but you still pushed through and didn't quit, and that's really what it's all about.

This is a tough time on or off the track and I don’t care what anyone says. I was never that close off the track (fastest off track was a 5k split for my 10k race in 2019 at a 19:59 and 19:57 so I negative splitted that race) but on the track, for fun, I had a friend be pacesetter and time trialer for me at the track. He had me running a 18:38 in the windy Fall.
the range of motion for these crunches is interesting. Where I am from we have to connect our elbows to our knees to make a rep count
nick, your 17:50 3mile was faster than any race time i had ever gotten in my 3 year varsity cross country career in highschool. in fact, your time is better than 90% of what i saw, and we were d 2, so its really not anything to take lightly.
17:50 is blistering fast in my opinion for a 3mile
fastest i ever saw was like 14:50 ish
ya bro hes an olympic runner lmfao
I don’t know what state you run in, but in California most average varsity athletes run in the 16:30s, most of it honestly has to do with base training mileage. If you don’t have the base you won’t be running under 17mins
My best time i ever ran in the Marine Corps was 18:10. anything sub 18 is blazing fast.
That’s a blazing fast time for the Marine Corps Kyle, since we don’t specialize in just running, but as I’ve seen most marines don’t see any virtue in cardio in general. For runners that compete, our 18minute 3mile is like a jog. I’m saying that as a guy who ran Community College level and our tempos were at 5:00min pace for 3miles that it isn’t that fast for strictly just competitive runners.
@@armandosolis9539 I had to work my ass to get around 18 mins. Some people are natural good runners I was not.
That was cool
Kubinski is a madman. PFT n CFT back to back? That's wild. Better believe that guy has a 300 CFT on the books.
Nick had really good form for all of the events. Some of the marines base bad form for the pull-ups, crunches, and ammo lifts.
Kubinski, go Marine!
