Hi Michelle, I also keep envelopes, bags and all kinds of 'stuff'. I even save all of the postage stamps that come on some of the envelopes and have used some of them to cover a box, among other things. they are so colourful. I think I might try this to keep some of my bits in. TFS x
The wrapping is just as precious and any overseas stamps are always interesting! It is so hard to throw things away - I might just need it one day! xx Michelle
Gorgeous books, I love how you put them all together using things you keep around the house. I do that myself and I so enjoy seeing what you do with your books. And I have to admit, I also love feeling and hearing my books, The more squichy and used they are the more I love them =). xx Monique
YUMMY!! Great way to have your cake and eat it too! A keepsake for your keepsakes made from keepsakes! Genius! They look like they feel awesome and the papers sound delicious! I'm absolutely in luv with the covers on your vintage one...to die for! I've got to try that sometime! TFS! xo
I really love the look of the double layer of the sewing patterns... so wish I had thought of that myself. Will be going through all my old sewing patterns very soon!
Love these books, especially the "vintage" paper bag one. I have been keeping packaging, etc. for a while....now I have something to do with it! Thanks for sharing!
I love your enthusiasm! I get it. Very tactile 😀 and full of awesome imagery. The bag end you want to decorate, you could cut pieces from vintage looking Washi tape and sew them down, or Mod Podge if sewing doesn't work. Cool idea to keep it open on that end. Great walk thru, thank you for sharing your treasure box! What a beautiful idea for keeping the RAK sent to you. The handmade flowers are adorable. Hugs, Debra
What another awesome idea Michelle! Thrilled to see you have used some of the goodies I sent you in your treasure book! Think I shall have to make some of these as like you I can't throw anything away :o) ! TFS hugs Aly x
I really love tactile experiences of books. It's the way that I do most of my books as well. Love the crinkly sounds from your video. LOVE your soft, yummy journal.
This is such a fun idea. I belong to an online website where we do loads of different swaps and I have boxes of stuff but it's not always as fun to go through. So this would be so much more organized and pretty and I can put it up on my shelf and flip through it any time. So now I know what I gotta do.
I double the really thin paper to give it a bit more substance. I am not overly worried about tears - if it happens it becomes part of the texture of the book. Have fun xx Michelle
Your journals are just wonderful :) I made one of your little doodle books for a circle journal swap I'm in and loved it!!!! Will be trying something a little bigger next time, thank you so much for the inspiration :) - Jeanette
Miss you Michelle. Hope u are having a nice summer. I have a lot of mail related stuff I have saved that has just come in thru my post box. The various security designs inside envelopes. Lots of different post marks I even have a USPS mailing box that came recently that I saved thinking it would make a great journal cover. I was not sure what i was going to do with all of the mail stuff but now I know exactly what to do. What a great idea.....thanks.
I thought I was addicted to paper, lol! I love this! You did an amazing job of making everything look better than it did when u got it and so functional just really lovely work. Tfs!
I do this too .... not to the extent that you do I must admit.... lol But, I love paper, type, envelopes and now I can actually have a reason to save all those bits and pieces. I haven't bought a journal or daily planner in years. My love of junk turned into something useful. Life is good.
What a wonderful way to preserve all these things. I have a treasure box too & have been hoping to turn the contents into a book, but I could never create something so clever and beautiful as your books. The sound of brown packing paper when you touched the pages...! I am so glad that I am not the only person that likes to get "junk" from other countries. I find it so fascinating. I also keep the tape off packages too to reuse. If you ever want a new friend in the UK to swap goodies with please let me know. Love Katie x
New Subscriber. I just now found this video and loved your ideas and now plan on giving this a try. You made it sound like so much fun. I am a newbie in this scrapbooking world and very excited to try new things and stretch my imagination and think outside of the norm. The vintage was my favorite though both of them were wonderful. I am finding I am more drawn to vintage. Though the video is a few years old, I thank you for it anyway. Hope to see more of you.
Really cool idea saving the tape on a plastic folder like that for re-use. I liked all the packaging getting a second life, just lovely and makes a fascinating book!
Love this so much! I'm the same as you, I keep all envelopes, note cards, stamps and the washi tape that people have sent me lol. Funny that we have that in common :D xx
I adore your enthusiasm! Great treasure books. I like the variety and the theme... the vintage-y sewn one is my favorite! I've been saving my junk mail with some ideas for using them. You are an inspiration!
Hello hello hello, are there any up and coming paper or junk journal swaps? This all looks like too much FUN. I adore paper in all its forms, I want to come and play.x Jo in the UK.
I love the NOISE too...LOL...that's what gets me every time. Do you have a tutorial on how to put the book together, I mean, is it stitched or how does it stay put?
Oh, wow, you are an arteest. The sewing you've done on the vintage book is really pretty. Your paper things are the same types of things I love and secretly collect. I've only very recently decided to make a book of them (instead of keeping them tucked away in a dark drawer.
I have boxes and boxes of stuff like this from over the years and I am so excited to find this video. I love this idea and I cannot wait to do my own treasure books. thank you so much for this video. ps I thought I was the only person that loved the sound and feel of different papers; makes me feel all kinds of happy to find other people love it as well. :)
HIi Gwen. Chrissie got the bags from Jules at the Julebox, her youtube channel is Jules Aviles. I remembered because I asked her too! Jules has an online store with lots of cool goodies. Have fun xx Michelle
Oh I wish I could do what you do . I've tried and it's looking pretty dismal at the moment lol. I have to admit I have kept my international envelopes so I am going to give this another bash. Again thank you Michelle for sharing. I look forward to more of your wonderful creations Hugs Shaz
I am so glad I found a fellow addict. I was hooked from when I was 10 ( a loooong time ago). I even became a Graphic Designer so I could be even closer to all kinds of paper. You have inspired me not to suppress my paper urges. :)
How do you stop the paper from tearing along the stitching line? These are lovely, by the way. I really do love things that are kind of "outside the box".
