@@thatonenigeriansformula I was talking about the gearbox issue in Brazil where he lost a lot of positions and had make a lot of overtakes but ended up losing with one point gap
Since we're talking about conspiracies, here's mine (tinfoil hat on): Lewis was watching the race from wherever he was back then and saw that Russell was proving to everyone that it was he was on par with him in terms of pace and racecraft, so he called Toto to screw up Russell's race to not embarrass Hamilton. Judging by 2007 Hamilton and 2016 Hamilton such a thing was entirely possible, especially when this year he said that he wants Bottas as a teammate as part of his contract negotiations. My theory is that he's afraid of Russell and doesn't want Rosberg-like competition, so that's why he sabotaged Russell's race. *tinfoil hat off*
I think that’s very likely as Mercedes are also protecting their brand. I think they expected Russell to end up around Alex Alvin, but he pretty much proved that a lot of what makes Lewis so formidable is his car.
8:25 If a Williams driver immediately wins after being put in the fastest car on the grid, lots of questions arise. How is the car so fast? Are Merc actually following the rules? Where exactly is their extra speed coming from? George is a talented driver, but so are most of the people on the grid. How many of them could win in Hamilton's car? Probably most of them. Merc doesn't want those questions, because they are cheating. Ferrari was caught cheating in 2019. It does happen. This is not a conspiracy. If one team was caught cheating, another could be cheating as well.
I think it’s more of a money thing… we all know Lewis brings the most money in for Mercedes due to his championships as well as capitalising on him being Black (which he should do)… so it’s likely they aren’t cheating but are able to afford the best of the best for their cars 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
@@TheAdamwalters nobody cheats and also everybody cheats in formula 1 and every other motorsport, tenth of seconds are found in the grey areas of the rules. Another example is DAS where the rules said the front wheels must be only controlled by the steering wheel but didn't specify which kind of movement, however there wasn't enough advantage to be gain to call for a penalty... yet. the bottom line is that none of the car on the grid are strictly speaking "legal", and they shouldn't be since this sport drives innovation in automotive engineering.

My suspicions over that weekend was over whether Hamilton actually had Covid or whether it was a way to have Bottas and Russell fight it out over a full race weekend with the same machinery with both titles nicely wrapped up. He certainly made a quick recovery 😉
The main reason I don't believe this, is that George still proved how good he was, so it's still just as embarrassing for Lewis and Valtteri. Everyone knows he should have won the race, or at least still a podium, even after the pitstop tyre mistake.
George proving himself capable was the only thing that could benefit Mercedes. They got confirmation that he could drive the car well. Him winning would draw to much attention to how much better the car was, and would diminish Lewis and Bottas’ public appearance.

Now I wanna start this off by saying I have no problem with the video. It’s fun to theorise about this kind of stuff and I think the video was well made too. I have no issue with someone having fun with the idea. *however* to anyone who actually believes they intentionally did this, just no. It would make absolutely no sense for them to do this. For starters, anyone who knows a thing about F1 would be able to see Russell’s clear pace despite the result, everyone knows he would have won the race without that puncture. They would gain *nothing* by ending his race. Secondly, if they really did want to hide that true pace of the car, why Russell? He was an F2 and GP3 champ in his rookie season of each and had put some incredible performances in at Williams. Everyone could clearly see he was a future star, and getting him from Williams would have cost Merc a very large amount of money too. Compare that to Vandoorne, he was Medcedes’ official test and reserve driver, he was at the track, and he’s nowhere near as quick as George. If they wanted Hamilton’s replacement to have a bad result, they should have took Vandoorne instead of Russell. Everyone at Mercedes would know this. The idea that Mercedes would intentionally miss out on points for something that gains them nothing (in fact, does the opposite because it made them look suspicious to conspiracy nuts) is insanely stupid. Nothing here would add up for them to do it intentionally. They lost everything and gained nothing. They had far better ways and choices for getting the outcome you think they wanted. It’s fun to suggest the idea as a joke but you have to be an idiot to actually believe it.
I think there's the possibility something going on given the contract situation around Lewis at the time, Mercedes had locked themselves in to win by that point so points weren't really an issue. George winning would have exploded into an actual news and media sensation, especially since it was COVID times probably would have mentally fucked Valteri up even more, shagged the team cohesion. Given how it's going for them this season though I reckon it might have been worth a punt on taking the hassle.

Merc didn't need the points. They championship was done. Listen to the voice of the engineer. He knew it was BS and he had to force Russel off the track. "Genuine puncture" Russel "but but" "GENUINE PUNCTURE BOY !"
You know, we've seen how much trouble Mercedes's aero package presents when it comes to overtaking. We've seen Hamilton and Bottas both have to combat overheating and tire degradation issues when fighting in the midfield. That was a fact that was lost on me even during the race because of how easy Russell made it look when it came to overtaking nearly half the field before his puncture. He really put that car to its limit in order to pass the field like that. #Russell2022
I love this type of videos!!! I love to read and hear about all the crazy theories of F1. The lightning also make is so ”kinda” scary. Keep it up man!!!
*This is my reasoning on why George & Mercedes had an agreement on not to win the race but just do well for the team:* First, they knew Russell wanted to prove himself during the whole weekend for a future Mercedes seat. Already his 2nd place during Qualifying was a huge statement/achievement. A win next to that would say a lot more about the car than the talent of Lewis & Valtteri, which would impact their carreer and the team negatively. Then the crash of Jack Aitkin during the race happened. Jack Aitkin didn't left debris on track, only next to it at the exit of the last corner otherwise the safety car would've probably driven through the pitlane and marshalls would've been seen cleaning up the track. Then there is also the fact that other drivers didn't got any puncture as well because at least some of the other drivers would've used the same exit line as George. Laps after the safety car went in he overtook some cars in order to get to second place and his pace was very clear that he was capable of to winning the race. Then the call suddenly came and it was already very clear that it sounded suspicious. A "genuine" puncture? Just when George was 2nd? Just when George did some laps of overtaking? The flat tyre didn't show flat on-screen during the pit stop? The team that has all the data and the lap data that didn't drop?
Watching this again a year later, the mercedes drive really showed Russell what and how he had to do in williams to change his drive and the team and he proved himselfin Belgium and qualifying over the whole course of 2021. Furthermore, Russell has been the most consistent driver of this year and has much more ahead
8:55 I believe there were team radios George saying the car didn't feel the same, as it felt like a puncture, but he was still fast. That's probably why, after checking the data, they say it was a genuine puncture
Think about this- If Mercedes really did sabotage George from winning the race, that means they unknowingly caused themselves to lose the 2021 championship. Because if Perez never won he wouldn’t have gotten signed to Red Bull, which means Max wouldn’t have had a teammate who helped him get his world championship
how about the mini sector times? i read that compared to the last 5 laps the times were withing a couple thousands of a second (talk about consistancy) up to the moment he stered into the pits. a puncture should result is some time loss that is maybe not clearly visible on the main sector times but this is still somewhat unclear
Theory 3: they did it so that racing point (mercedes powered) could score more points and beat their rivals mclaren and renault (both renault powered at the time) in the constructorstitel and gain an extra few millions in prize money Change my mind
I don't think he is afraid but he doesn't want the fight, but now he's stuck with it so hey let's put any beliefs of this incident to the side and see what happens next year :D
The setting with this conspiracy video and the lighting in the background, your beenie and beard. Gives me those fortune teller machine vibes, like in the Movie Big with Tom Hanks. Hahah.
I thought the reason was to preserve Lewis legacy because Russel drove that car VERY strong, even after all the setbacks he was STILL going to take the win. This would discount Lewis's Legacy by making some Fans (NOT ME) say that Lewis's car was the real reason for his success and that any driver could have won those titles.......Yea the guy who made Rosberg quit lol. Sure the car was a big part in his titles...But Hamilton is part of that car...he works to develop it as well. I'm a RBR fan...but I believe this conspiracy is plausible.
Olivier Panis won the 1996 Monaco Grand Prix on fumes and Ligier called him in as he was leading to refuel and Olivier said something along the lines of we’ll either be heroes or retire. I don’t know why Mercedes didn’t gamble like that it was either maybe win maybe podium or definitely no podium. I think Merrcedes were blinded by protocol and didn’t go for glory like we would like to have seen.

Lewis is only silent because of what happened at Abu Dhabi, how are you even connecting 2020 Sakhir to whether Lewis will drive for Merc in 2022 or not
Conspiracy IV: The Russian government caused Kubica rally accident: In 2010 Robert Kubica destroyed Vitaly Petrov in the Renault. Vladimir Putin wanted his drivers to look very good to assert dominance over other nations. To stop Petrov from looking bad they placed a Russian doll full of spikes on the apex of the corner that Kubica was going to hit. This was done by placing a Russian spy on the corner and putting the doll there just before Kubica was scheduled to go round. This caused a puncture which caused him to hit the barrier and be forced to take 2011-12 off. Putin was also instrumental for getting Heidfeld out of the seat mid season, which seemed like an odd decision. Heidfeld was the leading Renault driver in the standings, which would have made Petrov look bad. Petrov scored just enough points to surpass Heidfeld's total at the end of the season (even though he had almost double the races of Heidfeld), and saved Russia's motorsport face. Putin then gave up on Petrov after 2011, forcing him into "hiding" at Caterham, while the Russian dictator focused on a new upcoming talent, Daniil Kvyat.
Also Mercedes were saving themselves because even though people knew they had the best car nobody knew by how much because they were using Hamilton to conceal how good the car was. This kept their rivals guessing as to which is which. Russel was destroying that narrative!!
I reckon the whole pitting fiasco, was caused by George Russell taking up to much of to the pit wall radio and the pit crew not knowing exactly what to do as a result. George was being coached throughout the race as George really didn't have the experience in that car and George was on the radio far to much. Thats my thoughts on how it all started. As far as the slow leak and Bottas driving on old hard tyres, he didn't have a chance. The whole race was a disaster for Mercedes and then I believe Stoffel should have been behind the wheel instead of George. Anyway, I have had my say. Great channel you have here mate !
Lol. Nothing to do with Bottas. It's to do with Russell showing that Hamilton isn't special, he just has a great car. That's why they screwed Russell because it undermined hamilton's legacy.
I thought this as well, also Ferrari's pit stop of Eddie Irvine in Europe 1999 with the Championship on the line. Even Ross brawn has said the team would have felt split on Irvine winning it that year
This is what happens if you let him think your tyres aren't really worn out. He only eats tyres in good condition. Roscoe: "Rrrrrrr..." Lewis: "tyres are gone man" Roscoe: "oh fine keep 'em them"
You should do the 2015 Singapore GP next, it was a massive deal at the time and there was plenty of conspiracies as to why Mercedes suddenly dropped off the pace.
This was a excelent video once again but the one thing about this race that i hated was everyone calling bottas a bad driver because russell got by him at the end of the race and he dropped so far back. the only reason bottas lost the position to russell and everyone else was because his hard tyres were off his car and of the ground for over 20 seconds which means they lost all the temperature and its hard to get it back with them being so worn out. i remember after the race people wanted bottas replaced immediately because his tyres were 2 laps fresher than perez's hards but perez's hard werent ice cold
Not to be conspiranoic, but: 9:39 they already had won both the Driver's and Constructor's championships and there was nothing else to prove, the car wouldn't have any changes with 2 races to the end of the season. With the uncertainty of Lewis contract, they didn't want a Russell replacement theory floating around due to the comercial strategies planned. With all that context, first theory isn't that crazy tho.
Mercedes screwing up the pit stop and him magically getting a puncture when he was about to win always had me questioning the whole thing. Considering he didn't fit in the car, he is taller than Lewis by a lot. Yet he would have won hands down if they had a good pit stop. Even with a puncture, instead of 2 stops for the tire mix up, he would have easily won. We will see this year.
I lost a loot of respect for Mercedes and Hamilton after this race. It showed that Mercedes F1 is 95% marketing/business and 5 % race team. They didn’t want to show how good the car really was, because they want to keep the picture of Hamilton being on a different level than all other drivers on the grid. So it wouldn’t look good if a rookie did a better job than Hamilton in his own car. So they made arrangements to avoid that.
In Lewis Hamiltons rookie year suspicious things happened to stop him winning the title in his first year. My guess is F1 don't want to show the huge discrepancy between cars and how easy it is for a rookie or young guys to beat drivers that have been there for years, just because of the car. If Lewis was in a Williams he wouldn't be winning championships
@@markmall7142 I mean from the angles it looks like glock did let him by but it was really wet and it looked like he was struggling a bit and also had older tires than Lewis , plus Hamilton was better and it was a literal Toyota at the front which either way would have gotten passed since the difference between the mclaren and Toyota were somewhat significant

Mercedes and Lewis wants the perfect dominance story. Russell hopping to an uncomfortably small cockpit for couple days and winning the GP would have compromise it. So yep they denied him.

I’ll look into it 👁
If that conspiracy is true then its not just the gearbox that "malfunctioned" it would have be every race after the FIA ruling on September 13th that would have to be fixed. I'd love to hear more about what he knows now though, cause that is shady af.
Yeah it was a weird situation. Hamilton’s is also known to exaggerate a bit tho.
He lost the 2007 world title becuase he didnt know how to stop a car before a pit stop
*tinfoil hat off*
I can totally believe this. Hamilton probably threatened Toto. Now they're getting revenge on Lewis.
I think that’s very likely as Mercedes are also protecting their brand. I think they expected Russell to end up around Alex Alvin, but he pretty much proved that a lot of what makes Lewis so formidable is his car.
I think that could be true 😮
That's exactly what happened
My thoughts exactly
8:25 If a Williams driver immediately wins after being put in the fastest car on the grid, lots of questions arise. How is the car so fast? Are Merc actually following the rules? Where exactly is their extra speed coming from? George is a talented driver, but so are most of the people on the grid. How many of them could win in Hamilton's car? Probably most of them. Merc doesn't want those questions, because they are cheating. Ferrari was caught cheating in 2019. It does happen. This is not a conspiracy. If one team was caught cheating, another could be cheating as well.
I don’t think they are cheating they just have a vastly superior car but that takes away from Lewis and he is their golden child
The ferrari situation was just one instance of many where a team found a way to get around a loose regulation of fuel flux and since this was giving them a significant advantage in term of top speed they got reprimanded.

He needed luck not skills that's all it proved for George Russell as he is hopeless in a Mercedes and A Williams also 😭
George proving himself capable was the only thing that could benefit Mercedes. They got confirmation that he could drive the car well. Him winning would draw to much attention to how much better the car was, and would diminish Lewis and Bottas’ public appearance.
I think Mercedes wanted help to Racing Point finish 3rd in constructors championship and maybe that is the real reason why Hamilton not started, because he does not want to loose on purpose... Yeah, I think the tyre mix-up was real but the puncture, no. Drivers can feel punctures in all forms because the integrity of the car begins to diminish.

Going into the race I didn’t believe that Mercedes would allow Russell to beat Bottas…Though I figured they would add a touch of downforce to slow the car by 1-2 tenths. The pit stop disaster was accidental, but the slow leak was what really set this apart. They genuinely wrecked this man’s opportunity, to protect criticism of Ham vs car, and to protect and justify Bot being in the other seat.

We've seen Hamilton and Bottas both have to combat overheating and tire degradation issues when fighting in the midfield. He really put that car to its limit in order to pass the field like that. #Russell2022

Theory number 63 : George Russell luck is -100
I love this type of videos!!! I love to read and hear about all the crazy theories of F1. The lightning also make is so ”kinda” scary. Keep it up man!!!
*This is my reasoning on why George & Mercedes had an agreement on not to win the race but just do well for the team:*
First, they knew Russell wanted to prove himself during the whole weekend for a future Mercedes seat.
Another episode of this amazing series, and a banger as always.
Looking forward for the next one!
Watching this again a year later, the mercedes drive really showed Russell what and how he had to do in williams to change his drive and the team and he proved himselfin Belgium and qualifying over the whole course of 2021. Nah I still feel Perez would be signed on
how about the mini sector times? i read that compared to the last 5 laps the times were withing a couple thousands of a second (talk about consistancy) up to the moment he stered into the pits. a puncture should result is some time loss that is maybe not clearly visible on the main sector times but this is still somewhat unclear

With Russell joining they only delay the inevitable
In Lewis Hamiltons rookie year suspicious things happened to stop him winning the title in his first year. My guess is F1 don't want to show the huge discrepancy between cars and how easy it is for a rookie or young guys to beat drivers that have been there for years, just because of the car.
