www.pedestrians... Demolition of the Bombay Bistro Restaurant on Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax, Virginia. Produced by John Z Wetmore, producer of "Perils For Pedestrians".
Not sure why some people are saying he’s wasting time. I think it’s good how they are sorting materials and they probably don’t have a right time schedule to have it done therefore they can take time. He did the job very well
It seems you have a couple arm chai operators here commenting, I have been an operator for over 40 years and worked on house demos to 1 million square feet demos for years with just the buckets. The 1st thing was always safety when we got grapples we always separated materials it made the job of keeping the site neat so much easier!!!
Sometimes I get to know them. Usually they are pretty friendly. I'm happy to chat with anyone, but that isn't always easy when they are far away and on the other side of the construction fence. The telephoto lens can make them look a lot closer than they are.
🚧🚧WELL, SOME PEOPLE DON'T KNOW IS A LOT OF HEALTH CONCERN AND VIOLATIONS PROBABLY IS GOING ON WITH OLD BUILDINGS / STRUCTURES THAT IS ARE GOING HAVE TO GO ONE DAY...
u just made a mess with all that time we did nt even see u pull the footings out com better next time im jus 25 but did alot n still doin alot one day ill be in the us where there is alot of work on like my country where its slow goood work get better bro keep it up ❤
I'm glad someone else agreed it costs so much to move about 20 kg of tin. I was a machine operator and if I was that slow I would only last a couple of days
You guys bitching about how long it took. Decent separation of materials, which needs to be done anyway. Bringing in a second, smaller machine on the site for the run around stuff and now there’s another operator to pay and tremendous increase in chance of a collision. He got the building down in less than an hour. He didn’t beat up the machine or himself doing it.
Love your page, I'm a subscriber. I know you post other videos of life. But I love your DEMO videos. I'm retired, Worked on repairing many excavators in my years. Miss the life.
When it first opened it was a steak house. That was waaaay back, when Fairfax was a small town and the greedy developers had not yet ruined it for ever..
When you get craps from this kind of stuff make shure you a get alot of it you only get so much about a penny a pound for crap iron that big Frigerator on the back will set you a good penny for it if you get roof top air even a big one is good alos a small one as well
OMG I used to drive to and from work and saw this every time! I figured they were gonna demolish it, since they demolished other structures along Fairfax Blvd
Hell of a thing to do while people are inside eating dinner.
Hes pob mad because they got his order wrong
19:15 That's how time goes by.
Time is money.
More time is more money.
The piece of tin is probably worth less than the diesel used to get there...😂😂😂
I lived right there on Chain Bridge Road and Ive eaten at the Bombay Bistro. The food was okay but they had one hell of bar in my days!!!!

Knock it down first & then harvest all the metal or make several smaller piles of metal & put it together later

I had a lot going on in June and wasn't able to film and edit as much as usual. There will be more new videos in July.
they made quick work of that,,wonder what they will build there
Have a Beer Anthony 🍺
Things come and go.
All this sorting reminds me of a Taco Bell they razed close to me. I guess it’s better to sort in the beginning then haul all away and sort later.
This is like watching paint dry
Built in 1973. Coming soon: mixed use development.
Sigh, meaning apartments

Great!
They probably are paid by the hour and they're taking their sweet time ,getting and making all the money they can
It takes time
Why tear down a good building
Name of this video should have been"Picking out Scrap from a demolition" spent have of the video picking out tin
Great operator considering the machine he's using.
Why do US demolition companies [on youtube at least] not use Selector grabs?
What I don't see, is a water cannon to keep the dust down, and it's a good idea to have one of those handy.
37:40 Instead you have a man picking up and throwing pieces of sheetrock a few feet.
I will du it. It's Look so funny and nice
This is the most ADHD demolition I've ever seen. Seriously, i've walked back and forth less on a 3 hour phone call than this excavator did here...
John do you ever take the time to get to know these wrecking crews?
Sometimes I get to know them. Usually they are pretty friendly. I'm happy to chat with anyone, but that isn't always easy when they are far away and on the other side of the construction fence. The telephoto lens can make them look a lot closer than they are.
the guy can grab the tin for $15 bucks an hour, you rip down the building for 250 an hour

The city doesn't mind some extra dust in the air
All of that time wasted trying to chase down some scrap tin .
Not a waste
u just made a mess with all that time we did nt even see u pull the footings out

on like my country where its slow

If I was paying for this joker, I wouldn’t be happy.
I have scrap company hear Indianapolis
Good job, but hydraulic thumb is worth the expense.
This guy got to be paid by the hour. Not my money take it down.
Most worst operator I have seen in my life....very slow and dull.....he is more a cleaner rather then a operator 🐢🐢🐢
I'm glad someone else agreed it costs so much to move about 20 kg of tin. I was a machine operator

I'd love to get into this kind of work. I really want to demo a building like this
When you get craps from this kind of stuff make shure you a get alot of it you only get so much about a penny a pound for crap iron that big Frigerator on the back will set you a good penny for it if you get roof top air even a big one is good alos a small one as well

my question is why couldn't this building be reused?
Probably something wrong with it or want new
