Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love your lessons, but some people think of it as a boring classroom, if you watch Math Antics, the lessons there will be outstandingly fun! The guy made the video to explain a concept. All the people complaining about the simplicity of the problem are a bit dim. Why would he go through the trouble of illustrating a more complex problem, when he can illustrate a simple problem and you can use the same procedure to solve a complex problem? It is not his job to make go through unnecessarily complex problems. He explains the concept and, if you have a brain, you can apply it elsewhere.

    To those who don't understand, which I think there's no one didn't understand this equation, because it's really simple. Anyway, in the equation in the video. 3x 5=17 in this kind of equations, you subtract the lowest number from both sides. Since, 17 doesn't have any letter next to it and also 5 we are going to subtract 5 from both sides which means 3x=12 afterwards. We gonna divide both sides by 3 to get rid of the 3x (3/3 12/3)
    Finally, we need 3 numbers to give us the value of 12 which is 4

    So... let's say you start rearranging the equation. You take 3x + 5 = 17 and start moving things around...
    3x + 5 - 5 = 17 - 5
    3x + 5 - 5 / 3 = 17 - 5 /3
    x = 17 - 5 / 3
    If you follow order of operations, you get a different answer. So are you supposed to rearrange the equation in a specific way first? Do you HAVE to subtract 5 before you start the division? How do you know when to use addition or subtraction before division or multiplication? How do you know which order to move things around to get the right answer?
    You can have 17 - 5 = 12 / 3 = 4.
    Or you can have 17 - 5 / 3 = 17 - 1.6666 = 15.33333
    Damn math. There has to be a simple explanation for this stuff... I just can't find the answer or rule that will apply to these things.

    • @MrStrutxD
      @MrStrutxD 7 років тому +1

      I think it's part logic. I have trouble comprehending it, but my brain is hinting.
      So 3x+5=17 means
      There are 3 sets of a number that when combined with 5 they are equal to 17, Both sides are EQUAL in amount.
      We just don't know what it is, but the symbol does have a value.
      So when you think about that you have to think about how subtracting something affects how it's split into different parts, and if you divide something it doesnt.
      So i believe that theres a good reason for it to be more logical to simply subtract first and then divide it.
      If you figure it out can you please tell me? Because i don't comprehend why yet sadly, it makes me feel not smart.

    Wait so if we had a problem like 1x+14=-6 we have to change the + to a minus but do we still add?

    If you want to be a pedant, you have to do it right. This is how your comment should have been written: 'If you can't even spell correctly, maybe you need to learn more English in school before you try to type insults.' Notice the capital at the beginning of the sentence, the apostrophe in 'can't', the comma to represent a new clause and the capital letter in 'English' due to it being a proper noun.

    the video helps understand, but you go on tangents saying 7 sixteen times and drawing 0s all the way across the screen, just confusing. However it helped after i skipped half the video, thanks
