- Well engines are getting more and more complicated, but golly the Renesis RX-8 is more complex than I had anticipated. So much wiring and plumbing on the outside of the motor. ⇊ More ⇊

Got so excited when i saw this vid was out!
Thank you!
Nice this project will be cool. RX8 have nearly really done it for me but i do like rotaries so look forward to seeing this being rebuilt!
I think it's a rather cool car, just needs a working engine.
i'm currently doing this same thing!! Exciting!!!
Hope yours goes well!
@@Bbeavis thank you sir!
Same
I just got a rx8 for free but i need to rebuild it to bro thanks for the good video
Nice, good luck with your car!
Dunno if you guys cares but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my gf for the last weeks :)
@Donald Tomas definitely, I've been using InstaFlixxer for since november myself :)
If the rotary is too cooked to save, it would be interesting to see a 2.5L duratec swap that's gained so much popularity in the NC community. Even better would be an LFX from a Commodore
I'd love an LFX in an MX-5. For this car, sticking with a standard engine.
Sorry to say but the vast majority of the time it's not the apex seals that cause low compression in RX-8s. If it's a fairly low mileage one (under 150 000kms) the rotor housings are probably damaged.
We are rotary virgins, so just taking it as it comes ...
Good luck with this project! Hopefully it just comes down to Apex and Corner seals. If not, maybe a Toyota 1UZ swap is in the cards? PMC motorsport makes a bellhousing adapter to fit the UZ to the RX-8 transmission.
Wow, PMC do a lot of adapters. That'd be cool, but we're not in the budget range of any kind of engine swap.
I wish you showed taking out the bolts to trans, I'm having trouble getting to them
Sorry to hear F3AR, hope you got it worked out.
were you able to remove bolts?
once again he from Facebook hope you can get it going
Thanks Nick!
How long did it take you to take out the old engine and put new one In?
Hey Sk, about 1 day or so to remove, and maybe 2 days for us to get ourselves and the new engine organised and reinstalled.
Like I mentioned before, a lot of bling. The RX2's and 3's were a carb, dizzy and not much else. If you're interested, the Fullboost channel have a post on the RX8 engine and why they think it stinks. Quite interesting. ua-cam.com/video/IDezPjuQvmE/v-deo.html. They also have a teardown how to - may help.
Quite a nice video, thanks Don.
Haha BEAVIS
:)
How can something so small (overall engine size) be so complex? Have some Tooheys...more is better...look up symptoms/solutions for a 13b...toss it in the bin...replace it with a Barra! Problem solved!
🍻
So many hoses and wires on the engine!
Is it just me or did anyone else see the chain scratch the car????
Where are you seeing that exactly?
