Israel is not an "ally". They're a puppet state of the US. It's not like israel would ever have to come defend the US. Their role is to do what America says and do its dirty business. In return they get protection, they get huge amounts of capital and military equipment, and they get shielded from the consequences of any nefarious actions (they can break international law at will with impunity).

Also Israel did not yet start a real war vs Hezbollah, but in terms of power, if Israel did not care at all about civilian casualties, Hezbollah would be destroyed in a matter of one afternoon, same for Hamas.
