You missed a huge part of the story in the song, when he went home to show his parents what he accomplished they were dead. "When I went home to show 'em they was wrong, all that I found was two tombstones" "At first I got lost, then I got found but the ones that I loved were in the ground. Papa, I only wish you could see me now"
Yeah they need to give it another listen...idk if it's a SAD song, taken as a whole thing, but one thing it's NOT is a happy song. His parents are DEAD man. Never saw him succeed, etc
Was I right or wrong is from Skynyrd first and last cd. Awesome not a bad song on it. Rickey Medlocke was on drums back before switching to guitar later because he couldn't play with only one lung.
Best Southern rock band ever! There are NO bad Skynyrd songs. So sad they left this world far too soon and so sad for us to miss out on the incredible music they would have provided.
@@donsavignano4396 Artimus is original enough, IMO. He wasn't there for Sweet Home Alabama or Freebird, but he was with them for pretty much everything that came after that. He was their best drummer and he was with them on the plane when it went down.
When He came back home to prove his parents wrong,They were already buried & the man is asking himself was he right or wrong for leaving to follow his dreams, great story telling here
Four Walls of Raiford, Every Mothers Son, One More Time, all great Skynyrd song, that I've never seen anyone react to, I'd love for y'all to be the first,
Those 3 women you refer to were the part of the band called The Honkettes, they are such a key part of the Lynyrd Skynyrd sound, and one of them, Cassie Gaines, was the sister to the unbelievably young and upcoming talent Steven Gaines, who only joined the band for that last album before the plane crash. It's just so incredibly sad. Both brother and sister were among those who died in the plane crash. Something about this song and the construction of it and it being quiet and then loud, before grunge started really taking that idea and running with it, and the whole sad sad sentiment of it and yet it still rocks like Southern rock. It really got to me and I used to play this album and this song a ton in high school..
Simply one of the greatest bands to ever walk the planet. Can only imagine what they would have done if their fate would have been different. Keep listening! 😊
You need to WATCH ther 'Free Bird' performance from Oakland July 2, 1977. You need to see the excitement of the crowd, the energy of the band and the piano solo.
You can never go wrong with Skynyrd! Have been going to their shows now for 40 years. Great live band that put on a kick ass show. It's like a big family whenever you're at their shows. Have had some killer times at their shows. Thanks for all the good times and great memories. Skynyrd Nation rock on!
This is a Definitely listen over and over again. First time - the music, the instruments. Second time - the lyrics. Third time - the lyrics and memorize lyrics. Forth to 500t time - you sing along with it!!! Love you two!! Every time I watch you, I smile and laugh out loud. You two bring me JOY!!
There is no one better than Lynyrd Skynyrd. Rickey Medlocke was on drums back in the day. I like the broken cords in the soft passages in the beginning of the song. A+ Skynyrd nation forever
This is such a great song. Skynyrd is simply one of the best bands ever of any genre. If you haven't yet, a must is Saturday Night Special, also That Smell. Essetional listening!!!
When I went home to show 'em they was wrong All that I found was two tombstones Somebody tell me please was I right or wrong Oh, such a sad song First I got lost, then I got found But the ones that I love are in the ground Papa I only wish you could see me now....... You may have missed this part
The female voices were called the honkettes. Leslie Hawkins, JoJo Billinsley, and Cassie Gaines. Cassie is the sister to guitarist Steve Gaines that replaced Ed King in Lynyrd Skynyrd.
I love lynyrd skynyrd they ar one of the greatest southern rock bands of all time great choice y'all should know my dad was a member of another great southern rock band called the marshall tucker band he was the drummer
This was from the sessions from their failed attempt at a debut album. The midde of the song reappeared as the basis for "Gimme Three Steps," I believe.
You can't go wrong with Skynyrd, they always bring the chops and great songs. For more, try Give Me Back My Bullets, another all time banger! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶🔥
As others have mentioned, his parents were dead and didn't get to see his success. He then realized what really mattered. Forgot what a great song this was. I know a Little an Honky Tonk Nighttime Man should be next on your list.
This version is the updated one from 91 and the boxed set. The original version was cut at Muscle Shoals Studios in Alabama 21 years earlier in 1970 and was written by RVZ and Rossington.
It's been quite a while since I made this suggestion, but I'll try it again. I have been with this channel since before Amber took part, so pretty much from the beginning. I can't afford to pay you guys on your Patreon platform, my finances are desperately tight. Over the last couple of years I have tried to get you folks to react to John Hiatt singing Have A Little Faith In Me. There is a wonderful live performance video that I think you would really enjoy. You have already listened to a cover of a John Hiatt song when you reacted to Eric Clapton and B.B. King do Riding With The King. I've seen people suggest that you react to Bonnie Raitt's cover of John Hiatt's Thing Called Love. He's a great songwriter, and singer and I really wish you would react to him singing this beautiful song.
Great to see people of different races enjoy this band. Skynyrd was typecast as a racist band from the South due to their pride of their heritage. If you take a little time and look into the bands history, you will see in a different light what they were about and what they stood for. The ballad of Curtis Lowe was a true song. It's a long and involved story, but you should look it up. Lastly, Sweet Home Alabama was an answer back to Neil Young and his stereotyping all Southerners. We weren't and still are not racist as a whole. There absolutely were hard times for Black folks in the South, but not all Southerners are closed minded racist. It's truly refreshing to hear 2 wonderful people such as you looking past silly prejudices we all seem to have about certain things. There's a huge difference between prejudice and racism by definition. Take it from a Southern white man who at 63 years old still loves Smoky Robinson and many other Motown singers. This is a great channel and I just subscribed.
I'm a new subscriber and have been binging your videos. Some great stuff!! You might want to give a listen to Skynyrd's "Working for MCA" from their live album.
The last time you did Skynyrd was the first video i ever remeber where you did no stop the song in the middle. "on the Hunt"? Anyway - you were both totally into the song and you never stopped it until it was over.💗💗💗💗
Dad is dead and mom too when he came back home............. When I went home to show 'em they was wrong All that I found was two tombstones Somebody tell me, please, was I right or wrong? Lord, it's such a sad song
This is a demo version. They never released it because they took the chorus and made give me three steps. This was actually released after the plane crash.
One of the first Skynyrd songs ever recorded, a kind of a demo package of 11 songs that never went anywhere. Some of them became hits (Free Bird was one) more were released posthumously (like this one.) Having the lyrics would've helped you a lot, when he went home all he found was 2 tombstones. Thats why he sings, Papa I only wish you could see me now. Not a real life song, but I guarantee his papa would've gladly changed places w/ Ronnie. Not to be all morbid or anything...
He left home, went out and made it big, went home to show the family that he was now a success but unfortunately the parents had died 3:08 🪦🪦 “When I went home to show em they was wrong... All that I found was 2 tombstones”
Lynyrd Skynyrd BlackFoot 38 special Molly Hatchet all came from Jacksonville Florida early 1980's I lived there age 19 to 22 how can so much talent come from 1 city
Classic Skynyrd!! The way you write a song.. build up,, crescendo, then bring it home!! My favorite band ever!! I patterned my style after Gary Rossington (I even have a clone of his Lew Paul) yeah no influence what so ever!!
You missed a huge part of the story in the song, when he went home to show his parents what he accomplished they were dead.
"When I went home to show 'em they was wrong, all that I found was two tombstones"

Yeah you're right but one thing is for sure y'all, Skynyrd can write fabulous songs.
Was I right or wrong is from Skynyrd first and last cd. Awesome not a bad song on it. Rickey Medlocke was on drums back before switching to guitar later because he couldn't play with only one lung.

Yeah so sad that there's no original band members left after Gary rossington passed

Yelp, it's a song about regrets, it ain't happy.
No one holds a candle to this band. This rabbit hole is deep and fantastic
'I Never Dreamed' is an absolute must for this awesome band!
You need the Skynyrd song “I Know a Little” in your life!! 🎸🎶🎤🥰 The beautiful ladies singing backup vocals are known as “The Honkettes”
I second "I Know a Little."
I Know a Little is definitely one to play!
Also, "You Got That Right" from the same Street Survivors album
Those two are my favorites from that album
@@stevea3271 mine too! Great song!
“I know a Little”
A display of Steve Gaines
pickin and writing.
Number one rule never compare Lynyrd Skynyrd to the Grateful Dead the biggest insult ever to complete different stratosphere's.
Took the words right out of my mouth. I like both bands. But they are completely different.
Spoken like a true southern from Jacksonville Florida ❤
AGREED!!
it was weird to compare those two but The Dead and Skynyrd are two of my Favs
They just heard Sugar Magnolia so I can see the comparison with that in the back of their mind.
Four Walls of Raiford, Every Mothers Son, One More Time, all great Skynyrd song, that I've never seen anyone react to, I'd love for y'all to be the first,
the demo version of four walls of raiford has a very special place in my heart.

he actually joined before One More From the Road,..
Yep bro was riffing on 2 albums
Simply one of the greatest bands to ever walk the planet. Can only imagine what they would have done if their fate would have been different. Keep listening! 😊
ANY DAY is a GOOD DAY for SKYNYRD!!! :) THANKS, YA'LL!! HAPPY SATURDAY!!!
All of Skynyrd’s deep tracks are awesome. Radio plays the same 4 songs over and over.
When he returned home all he seen was two grave stones. He couldn't show his father his success.
Such a deep song when you think about the subject matter. I've liked this since the first time I heard it.
Omg never heard this fantastic song…I gotta listen to more of their music😢😢
Yes. Yes, you do. It can only do you good.
You most definitely should!
When it comes to the original Skynyrd, the songs you don't know are as good or better than the ones you do know.
You need to WATCH ther 'Free Bird' performance from Oakland July 2, 1977. You need to see the excitement of the crowd, the energy of the band and the piano solo.
I agree please react to the Live version of Free Bird from Oakland Coliseum from 1977
That was a great show, but I think Knebworth was better.
I think you missed some of the lyrics. “When I went home to show them they were wrong all that I found was two tombstones”

I have a hard time calling that band Lynyrd Skynyrd... IMO, Lynyrd Skynyrd died in the plane crash.
One of my favourite Lynyrd Skynyrd songs
This is a Definitely listen over and over again. First time - the music, the instruments. Second time - the lyrics. Third time - the lyrics and memorize lyrics. Forth to 500t time - you sing along with it!!! Love you two!! Every time I watch you, I smile and laugh out loud. You two bring me JOY!!
So happy you ALWAYS enjoy some Skynyrd !! They were Legendary even before the plane crash ...
That was the famous Honkettes . Cassie Gaines who died in the plane crash,JoJo Billingsley who passed in 2010,and Leslie Hawkins who passed in 2019
Leslie is still alive.
One of my favourite Skynyrd tunes of all time, thanks 4 that
FREEBIRD LIVE IN OAKLAND , 1977 ! NOTHING LEFT TO SAY ! I WAS THERE AND IT WAS AMAZING ! I WAS JUST 14 YEARS OLD !
I heard/seen the videos....that was one for the ages right ?
This and On the hunt are the 2 most underrated songs they have.
Tuesday Gone is a great song
The backup singers are the beautiful and talented Honkettes.
There is no one better than Lynyrd Skynyrd. Rickey Medlocke was on drums back in the day. I like the broken cords in the soft passages in the beginning of the song. A+ Skynyrd nation forever
Cry for the bad man is a great tune by Skynyrd
Lay back and just listen nobody does southern rock like Skynyrd🔥❣️
This is such a great song. Skynyrd is simply one of the best bands ever of any genre. If you haven't yet, a must is Saturday Night Special, also That Smell. Essetional listening!!!
You know what...... this ain't bad..... You can put any LS "album/cd on and listen to whole thing through.
Saturday Night Special should be next.
The song isn’t bad? It’s great….yr nuttttts
Definitely one of Skynyrds's most underrated songs.
I think it is one of their best tracs overall.
The backup vocals ... oh man !!
Every mothers son is another good one!!!!!!!
He came back and found two tombstones. His mother and father were dead.
Great song! Not often heard on the radio. Good choice to however suggested it!
When I went home to show 'em they was wrong
All that I found was two tombstones
Somebody tell me please was I right or wrong
Oh, such a sad song
First I got lost, then I got found
But the ones that I love are in the ground
Papa I only wish you could see me now....... You may have missed this part
The female voices were called the honkettes. Leslie Hawkins, JoJo Billinsley, and Cassie Gaines. Cassie is the sister to guitarist Steve Gaines that replaced Ed King in Lynyrd Skynyrd.
So many great skynard songs.
When he got home he found two tombstones. "Papa I never meant to do you wrong".
One of my favorites by Skynrd.
Your next Skynyrd song has to be I Know a Little from the Street Survivors album and written by Steve Gaines it's one of their best.
God bless Lynyrd Skynyrd 🙏
Love your reactions. Love Lynyrd Skynyrd. Love seeing Amber in a Green Bay Packers shirt! Smart lady.
The Kings of the southern sound !!!
Those lovely woman singing would be the Honkettes (sp?). "Play it pretty" and RIP to all of you!
You should react to All I Can Do Is Write About It, the album version. It’s one of their best IMO
I've been a Skynyrd fan since i was 14. I was 10 when they crashed. I've never heard that exact version. It was...different.
You can definitely hear the early riff for GIMME 3 STEPS in this song.
1st I got lost then I got found but the ones that I love r in the ground. Such a sad song.
I love lynyrd skynyrd they ar one of the greatest southern rock bands of all time great choice y'all should know my dad was a member of another great southern rock band called the marshall tucker band he was the drummer
His mom and dad died that’s why all he found at home was two tombstones.
"when I went home to show em they were wrong all I found was two tombstones, somebody tell me please was I right or wrong"
You did one of my favorite L.S. songs (On The Hunt). Another one of my fave songs by them is Saturday Night Special...a real rocker!!
I was thinking, why does this guitar sound so familiar, ..."Give Me Three Step".
If you listen to this again with the lyrics I think this song will hit you both completely differently.
This song sounds like it’s from today 😢😢
This was from the sessions from their failed attempt at a debut album. The midde of the song reappeared as the basis for "Gimme Three Steps," I believe.
Great music combined with sad lyrics. Classic storytelling

Just a heads up. I think Amber needs to be closer to the microphone. She sounds like she's talking from down the hall.
I'm a new subscriber and have been binging your videos. Some great stuff!! You might want to give a listen to Skynyrd's "Working for MCA" from their live album.
That's the Gimme Three Steps riff you hear. Riff so good they had to use it twice.
FIRST I GOT LOST THEN I GOT FOUND, BUT THE ONES THAT I LOVE WAS IN THE GROUND.
You have got to listen to When Doves Cry by Lynyrd Skynyrd. You won't believe your ears. Such a beautiful short song.
You must check out the song ‘Sometime World’ by the group WISHBONE ASH (full album version)
From the album Agus
Hope you enjoy
Love your channel
One of the best skynyrd songs

And never compare them to the grateful Dead! There is no comparison! Lynyrd Skynyrd is a great band!

All that I found was two tombstones
Somebody tell me, please, was I right or wrong?
Lord, it's such a sad song
I just love Skynyrd. You brought back some great memories thank you very much. Check out that smell it is a great tune.
The women that sung in their songs were called the honketts
Have you checked out every mother's son by Skynyrd

'Freebird!' {holds up lighter}
Days w/Skynyrd are always good.
"When I went home to show 'em they was wrong,
All that I found was two tombstones
Somebody tell me please, was I right or wrong?"
My 3 Skynyrd Fav's are: Tuesday's Gone __ Simple Man __ The Ballad of Curtis Loew. ♥

You can hear bits of what would later become Gimme Three Steps in this one
This is vintage Skynyrd before they became a household name.
Try don’t ask me no Questions
Thanks for the reaction. I really like this song. Can't go wrong with LS. Have tried T for Texas T for Tennessee? I think you will love it.
Id love to see a reaction to "I know a little". I think it is one of their best guitar riffs.
He left home, went out and made it big, went home to show the family that he was now a success but unfortunately the parents had died

A new one to me. I like it
He chased his dream, but his people died in the meantime.
How Bout Them Vols!!! Great song as well!!
In the near future. Please play,

Four walls of raiford and all i can do is write about it are bangers as well
He wasn't very happy when he got home because all he found was two tombstones. Hence the name of the song was I right or wrong
You really need to checkout the albums "1991" and" the last rebel" every song on both albums just like all of them are very good. Classic skynyrd .
Another Great Southern Band is The Marshall Tucker band!
