I got a QM-710 with the Sedo seating a year and a half ago to replace my Q600 chair. And boy has the QM-710 had problems; too many to list but I will give you the big one - (it is a dangerous problem that I believe Sunrise decided to ignore for its production chairs even though they had to make a custom fix for my chair). Here is the issue: there are some clips that hold the armrests on - on the Sedo version anyway - and the clips fall off. I posted a video showing how the clips popped out and caused me to get hurt because BOTH arms failed when I went to stand up (I can stand and walk a very short distance). You can see it at: ua-cam.com/video/K8CVGwxVQbg/v-deo.html That is a video I made for Sunrise and the company that got the chair for me, Numotion.
In Sunrise's defense, they made a custom fix for it and they have fixed all of the issues I have had - some over and over (like the center mounted leg rest that keeps failing - it has been replaced at least four times!). But the fix they came up for the armrest's should have been applied to all of the chairs with the Sedo seating in my opinion. My injury was not bad when the arms failed, but someone more frail than I may have been hurt badly. Another big issue is the width of the chair. Yes, the spider track feels like riding in a car, but the front wheels are set out so far, that it is difficult to maneuver without hitting things (you can't see them going through a door). And the arms are so wide that I bang them into door frames all the time! And I am very good at driving my chair, but it is difficult to fit through doorways.
The programmable button option is cool, your elbows hit then when you are eating at a table and so the chair will start to move on you when you don't expect it to - or want it to. But you can turn the chair off to avoid that. The headlight on one side went out and they want a co-pay of $330 to fix it and I could go on and on an on about the issues. The good thing is the ride, it is super smooth and almost makes up for the other problems. The things that are missing are having regular leg hangers. You have to sit with your legs together all the time, but if you find a way to add the leg hangers, then your heels will get caught up in the front wheels.
I hate to say so many bad things about the chair, as Sunrise does stand behind it and they do fix it (as well as Numotion - the people that got me the chair) but facts are facts. The chair - when it is working is amazing. But then it breaks. It's amazing and breaks - It's amazing and breaks - It's amazing and breaks ... If I were you, I would not get this chair, I would wait for an upgraded version or get something else. There are just too many problems, the biggest one being that it will hardly fit through a door and is even difficult to drive into my 2016 Honda Odyssey Braun conversion van.

My 2014 QM710 now has 1,748 miles. Overall, I'm not convinced the new Q700M should be ignored as the qm710 replacement in six months. My qm710 is waiting on new 4-pole motor/ gearbox assemblies (third pair). Noise caused concern each time, but I was never stranded, and I'll choose 4-pole motors over two-pole motors, anytime for my application. The headlights failed three times, but the last pair have lasted two years - improved? The front springs are new-and-improved replacements, as are the rear struts - no complaints. The elevator has been completely dependable and awesome, though moving fast in reverse while only crawling forward seems contradictory in the commonsense department. The casters are noisy but wear on the carpet much less than rubber tread, and the caster wheel bearings could use improvement. Number four Swing-away joystick apparatus - the new one (2022) must be an improvement. R-net electronics are great, 120amp module is a must as are group 24 MK batteries for anyone who likes an occasional ride to a haircut, errands, or going on six - ten miles rides; the pwc has an excellent ride because of the suspension and size. Having tried several specialty backrests, the Jay seating products cannot be beaten as quality, fitment, and pain reduction are the best I've experienced. Sunrise Medical's consumer phone line have been extremely helpful every time a repair issue has occurred and when 'they' have an Exabition near you, they've got techs on hand giving adjustments, repairs, and parts away freely. I really like my Permobil (back-up at 2,822 mi.), though, I can't afford the foreseeable repairs inevitably coming - worn wires/ cables, joystick buttons, tires/ wheels, and other wear items, I'm in the Permobil until my primary PWC is returned. I've been looking at what changes Permobil have done since 2014. A close look tells me they're cutting some corners resulting in less for your money and their seating products seem cheap and useless for me personally. I won't take another Invacare, Quantum - nice paint, or ROVI - no working suspension. Programming any PWC is paramount to receiving a PWC that pleases, and several techs have shared the qm710 wasn't really built to endure blazing 6-8 mph everywhere you go. I have abided by that advice and move along according to terrain, traffic, and allotted time. Living in the Phoenix Valley, heat might have caused pre-mature motor issues and I hear it's necessary to prevent the suspension from getting wet as an articulating arm getting stuck can occur - not here. I have not found another PWC that exceeds my expectations further than a Q700M (6 mph). However, I would suggest three test rides from your three top choices, order PWC, don't accept delivery until all is perfect in every department.

DJ Raw615 As do I, I love the increased speed on it over my previous chair. 8 mph is so nice and smooth on l in this chair that I hardly take the bus any where here in N.Y.

Michael Simmons Mine Does not go as fast because I knew I couldn’t handle it because I beat my other chair up I had a quickie rhythm and I beat it up So when I got the Qm710 I knew I couldn’t handle the top speed so I had them slow it down in the programing The middle speed

re qm710 ..I bought it for the spider track suspension. i use it outdoors but never too rough. After 2 years the gas struts that control the spider track suspension have beed replaced 4 times.the first one failed after only 6 mths , then the second at 12 mths , seem to only last 6-12 mths. Quite unstable and dangerous when they fail. This is a known issue and sunrise have replaced under warranty so far. Disapointing though. apart from this its a good chair.

len allan I just got my QM 710 only had it a few days I have the one with max speed of 8 mph. What exactly happens when those struts fail? Are you able to still ride of it falls on you or would you be stuck in place?

    • @lenallan9098
      @lenallan9098 6 років тому

when they fail its usually gradual over a few weeks , but you can still drive the chair. It just becomes more unstable so going up up steep ramp like a bus you may pop a wheelie and risk falling backwards.

same my struts gave out after only after 10 miles, its preowned but the previous owner don't use it at all so its total distance just less then 2 miles. its warranty is no longer valid and i am either selling it as scrap or burn it and let the world knows this shitty chair not worth the price tag of $23,000.00

Paul 913 All these replies have me really hoping this doesn't happen to my chair. I go out alone a lot and typically ride home from my son's house which is about two miles away. My old chair is currently being repaired and will be a few months as it needs many many parts replaced.

its a common problem thats why they tried to overcome with spidertrec 2.0 even though it only made it last 2 times longer before it needs replacing again and thats coming from the dealer guy who works there. he uses the chair because the company lets him use for free to promote it. The advise he gave me was to go really really slow on surfaces that are not flat like go speed 1 or 2. i would recommend sell it before warranty expires..

now all they need to do is make the shocks more durable on it and its good. so far i went through 3 sets of shocks on mine in a 3-year span. perhaps i need a more rugged powerbase. I beat the hell out of this thing going fishing and such. i dont let things limit me.

Yes, great until the struts fail. I've had the QM-710 for about 4 years, and I'm about to replace the gas-charged struts for the 3rd time. What happens when a strut fails, you ask?
You will notice that the chair becomes a little unstable. Weight will shift to either the front or rear casters as you drive or stop. Riding in a vehicle, you'll notice the same thing when it accelerates.
You may notice that going up and down ramps, you're riding on 4 wheels, instead of all 6. When going downhill, the chair may lean forward enough for your feet/footplate to touch the ground.
If you tilt back as far as they show in this video (2:45), all the weight will shift to the rear casters, bringing your front wheels way off the ground.
That's with one failed strut. With two, the chair becomes unusable. You will immediately tilt backward when you accelerate, and tilt forward when you stop - and your footrest will hit the ground.
Many people have had this complaint. Just look at the comments in any QM-710 review on UA-cam, and you'll see lots of complaints.
This is a known problem with this chair, and it affects far too many people. Think long and hard before purchasing a QM-710.

Can you make a version designed for people with ME/CFS? There are people like me with Severe ME/CFS that are mostly bed bound because we have nothing, getting progressively worse, and no help from Health Care Providers, so have to pay for everything ourselves. The only power chair I could afford (being in the UK) was a cheap one that had no suspension, dangerous castor wheels & nearly killed me because it went on the road itself. I sent it back and got a mobility scooter, which I feel safer on but is really restrictive in my home and also outside & not allowed on my local bus (when power chairs are, it's discrimination but there's not much I can do having already said to the company). I just really feel let down by our Medical & Health Care System. I just hope that my kids Health Care is better than mines and my dad's. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated. Ps love the Spider Trac! (And I also need wider than 16ins seat & unfortunately putting on weight instead of losing it no matter what I do to lose it.) Thanks in advance. Much love to all ❤🙏

this chair is a piece of garbage.. it has a turtle on the joystick that reduces the functions to 1 mph. when i go down a hill the chair will not tilt back enougn and i have to hold on for dear life for not going forward. in the turtle it would take me a long time to go down hill.. same with the elevation of seat it goes so slowly its not worth using. when i go up a hill the front castors come off of the ground and the chair weaves all over the place. i have never fornd a use for the spider trac it is j;ust a gimmick the shocks on the back wheels wear out in about 6 months and they only cast $600.00 the front springs are also $600.00 if i can find a good lawyer i would like to sue them for the turtle. bounder drives at 11mph with the seat elevated. i have seen a pride at a trade show with the turtle defeated going at full speed and whipping around corners with the seat at maximum height...i i level chair is not reduced to 1 mph in the elevated seat i have a qm710 and the p200 beats it hand down do not buy this chair until they remove the turtle and get rid of that stupid spider trac ken hawkins boulder creek , ca
