With tax etc. you're looking at $2k+...don't know what state tax you have...I have purchased the golden lite rider envy 3 x in 6 years (they only last 2 years and thats pushing it)😢 I'm needing to get another one now and dont think im going to get one this go around. Hope this helps.

    I have an electric wheelchair from Vivio, and it came with a curb lift device attached. Basically this device actually lifts up the two front castors when there is a curb that is too difficult to climb. I love it. Sometimes the curb is just a tad too little, and the curb lift device does not engage because it is below the device, and the front castors will not go over it then. So, in such cases, which are quite minor, I put my foot on top of the curb lift device and push it down just a bit so that it will engage with the curb. Works great! I live in Vienna, Austria, by the way.

    • @pjaypender1009
      @pjaypender1009 6 місяців тому

      The maker of this video doesn't ship anywhere. They don't sell wheelchairs. You need to look at the manufacturers for where service is available and the retailers sites for where shipping is available.

    I have to wonder if you all actually have handicapped people helping with your wheelchair design. They're all missing a huge thing. We need to be able to reach counter tops & even higher if in stores.

      These chairs are not really made for people who need that. They are made for people who just have a little trouble walking long distances. If you need that, you need to look at rehab chairs, many of which have seat lift to reach things. My chair rises 12 inches and I can easily reach the top shelves in supermarkets. Talk to your PT about getting fitted for a rehab chair like a Permobil F3, a Quantum Q6, a ROVI X3 or a Jazzy Air 2. There are a number of rehab chairs with that feature but it doesn't come cheap. Figure from $15,000 to $60,000. My ROVI X3 retailed for around $38,000.

      @pjaypender1009 I've got one coming. The the Jazzy Air 2. It's about $8000 Canadian in total & my Ins. should cover it. You didn't answer my question, do you actually have handicapped people help design them. I've found none to be practical. We can't lift even 50 or 60 pounds when we can't walk...

      These chairs are great travel chairs, nothing more.
      If you don't want to travel with your expensive power chairs and can withstand sitting in a basic upright custom cheap chair, these are a good option.
      Just beware due to the design these chairs do not always do well with curve cuts ,ramps, etc...I got stuck so many times, trying to go up small ramps on cabs, I had to be pushed up,same with curve cuts,stuck in the street,waiting on someone to give me a boost. I don't recommend if you're traveling alone.

    Nice, but you didn't mention their top speed and maximum range of traveling.

    • @pjaypender1009
      @pjaypender1009 6 місяців тому

      Range is so variable even within the same chair and none of them come close to what the manufacturers claim. The only way they get close to rated range is empty. The more you weigh, the less range. None of these will go more than 8 or so miles with a small adult in them. Less if you are average weight or above. As for speed, portable chairs like these are usually capped around 3.8mph. The only way to go faster than that is in a rehab chair.

    We also need to be able to lift them into our car. I can’t lift much and I need a wheelchair that has to be light and electric. That might be too much to ask.

      The Golden Cricket is 33 pounds. You won't go much below that. Batteries are heavy.

    Most of the models described are not covered by private insurance or medicare/medicaid in the US. They aren't coded to the rehab standard so aren't eligible for reimbursement. They are considered convenience mobility devices. Best wheelchairs are determined by your mobility, disability and ease of transportability and the way you plan to use it. Travel, in the home environment, with an aide, by yourself, public transportation remaining in chair, etc. That determines the correct w/c for your situation.

    • @pjaypender1009
      @pjaypender1009 6 місяців тому +1

      They are neither intended or marketed as rehab chairs. They are power wheelchairs which is a separate category from rehab chairs.
      As for determining which chair is right for you, the user is the expert in what they need, not medical personnel who are often trained by the chair manufacturers.

      Look at the Golden Cricket if a 17" wide seat is wide enough for you. It weighs 33 pounds and is about as light as you can get from a manufacturer that you can find local service for if needed.
      For reference, that is lighter than many manual wheelchairs.
