Why cover it up so we can't see how it is built?

    if 50000 btu = 14kw that's amazing.
I wonder is it cheaper to buy pellets and run this machine than run the gas or electric from the mains? Either way, its great you have a back up system with a fuel that has a very long shelf life. : )

Of course. There's no chimney pipe on this test version...so no draft to suck the smoke out of the unit. Will work even better when I get around to hooking one up.

Well done it's great to see these kind of ideas.
    Keep at it.

I like your concept. I am thinking about building a stove that has thermoelectric cells around the heat exchanger to charge a battery and run the blowers.

Not crazy. It could be done easily on this one I'm doing.
Costs a bit to get the nice TEG parts. You also have to engineer it a bit with a good heatsink etc. I'll do that eventually.
Thelin Pellet Stoves did this back in 2001.
Search "Development of a Self-Powered Pellet Stove" on Hi-Z Technology website.
He didn't bring it to market for some reason.

Sundanzer uses Electrolux cabinets and Danfoss compressors to make 12v chest freezers. Look them up. DCF225 is the biggest one (8 cu ft) 12 or 24 volt - $1300
    I'm going to get a Novakool RFU9000 (9.1 cu ft) . Largest upright fridge/freezer they make. It's basically a small apartment size marine fridge/freezer. 12 or 24 volt. - $1900

The pellets used are plain wood pellets available almost everywhere. Fairly cheap and consistent to use. This stove can also burn wood chips with a proper large auger.
This exact stove is probably in the 50,000+ BTU range if I push it.
Most pellet stoves are 30,000 - 70,000 BTU max

I'm designing this for total odd-grid operation. It's going to heat my house with hydronic floor heat and charge a small battery bank. Enough power to run a 12 volt off grid Novakool fridge, all lighting and a laptop when I feel like it. Oh, and a Lepai LP-2020A+ 12volt amplifier and speakers for music all day ;)
If I scaled it up I could make much more heat.
Right now it's running 30,000 BTU approx. at this feed rate and low CFM of air.
It's nice and efficient at these settings. Long runtime.

Both the Sundanzer DCF225 and Novakool RFU9000 use the Danfoss BD50 compressor.
Very power efficient and repair parts are common and available. I think they only pull 6 amps @12 volts DC. Far better than any of the RV fridges that are 12 amps or more.
Danfoss is the only way to go I believe.

I'm Guessing he has gone, off the grid.as he said he was going to do, it is to bad he didn't lift that heat shield to expose the rest of the design. i have put the electrical together, and i have 3/8 wall 4" tube. ready to cut and weld one up. looking for the design basics.

I'm still sorta here LOL. Not totally off grid, but real close. I'll attempt to revisit this unit soon-ish. My new video space is complete.

Nicely done! Can you share more info on your new burner? It looks like you went away from the round burn pot style. I'd like to build something similar.

The pellets look like compressed saw dust/ wood chips. Are they cheap?
How much usable energy do you think you'll get per kilo of pellets?

sounds great , just to be of the grid :) I like the 12v fridge idea without an inverter. i hope to get a 12v freezer (solar system) one day and freeze my home grown green beans and blueberries for during winter : )

I am subscribed and was hoping to see more info on this set up.Have you got any vids or photos of the one you are building out of heavier steel, from ground up build.that would be great to see. Like what i see so far.

Pretty sweet, I don't know much about wood gasifier stoves but it looks like it works great!

Check out the gasifier videos on my channel. Build a MIDGE.
Same principle, but this one is fan powered.
    Also google:
    Biolite Camp Stove
    GEK gasifier (here on YT)
