As soon as I saw the kid, I was reminded of 11 year old me running to my room in tears when the Rangers choked a game against I forget which team but it cost them a playoff spot lmfao. He'll be alright.
Could we quickly talk about Lafrenière becoming an actual elite player ? This guy was projected next crosby big easy first overall pick and struggled so much before this year putting him and Panarin on the same line and they both had unreal seasons and Lafy’s playing so good since the start of the playoffs. The Rangers have a great current team and also will have a bright future.
I figured Laffy would always get here. He has the tools and intangibles. He struggled his rookie year but got better every year since. He's the future of the team.
The problem for him was always that draft class wasn't as strong and they were impacted by covid. Crosby is an unfair comparison he will never get to that level to me his comparable #1 pick is Taylor Hall.
As a Canes and Bruins fan it's been a brutal 2 days, but I gotta give it to Igor that's one hell of a goaltender the Rangers have and he will be very much needed against a very scary Panthers team in the Eastern Conference Finals.

What a series, what an end! I was worried we would blow a 3-0 series lead as President Trophy Winners. But as soon as I knew that we would have an extra day of rest and Jacob Trouba won the Mark Messier Leadership Award, I knew we would win this game. But to win it like this was unexpected. What a game that was! This team is good! Scary good! A game to remember! Can't wait to face the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals!
Big Hurricanes fan here. I am disappointed that we lost, but this series was pretty fun. Great battle between two ultra-talented teams, the Rangers just wanted it more than us. Good luck to y'all against either Florida or Boston.
I'm a canes fan. I was born in Raleigh. With that said, I give it to the Rangers. I am glad that the canes did not just roll over and get swept like last year. Hey, it could always be worse (Maple leaves cough cough). Congrats to the Rangers and their fans, y'all earned those W's. Good luck in the rest of the playoffs!
That crying kid reminds me of me. Same situation with my sharks. In the 2008 semifinal against Dallas. We go down 3-0 and then win games 4 and 5 in dramatic fashion. Although we lost in 4ot. I don't know if it's worse to lose by giving up a 3-1 lead or losing in 4ot, but I feel his pain.
As a Bruins fan, being a past President Trophy team and being "cursed", I am very glad the Rangers were able to get it together and win in 6, still not as satisfying as being undefeated, but much luck to the Rangers, and Eck, I hope you won't be disappointed! Let's go Rangers!
I hope the Canes got that kid a signed stick or something like that. Good learning experience for him...sometimes your team loses and it hurts, but he'll get over it. Canes are a great team. A Cup in their near future is certainly possible.
I am a Rangers fan, but I am also a Stars and Hurricanes fan (my Hurricanes fandom is a carryover from their Whaler days). I am happy and psyched that the Rangers won. But, I can acknowledge that this is an absolutely brutal loss for the Hurricanes and their fans. I thought that this was their best team in the Brindamour/Aho/Svech era, as they finally had healthy goaltending, and they finally took a big swing with the Guentzal trade, just to fall short once again. This series kind of reminded me last year's Hurricanes/Panthers conference final, or of the 2014 Rangers/Kings Cup Final, which is viewed by some as a '"close" five game series. I think that a good comparison for this current Canes team would be the 90's and early 00's St. Louis Blues: always a solid team, but always just good enough to get knocked out by the Red Wings, Avs, or Stars on their way to a Cup Final appearance. I think that it's an interesting offseason coming up for the Canes. It seems like they might be one piece away, but how do you get it? Do you radically remake the roster and play a different style? Or, do you stick with it, and hope that one year the bounces go your way (think the 2018 Capitals)?
As a Canes fan, I can confidently say this year was their best chance. This offseason is gonna be BRUTAL for GMDW, having the Herculean task of deciding who stays and who goes. $30 million in cap space but over half the team on expired contracts. Not gonna see the Canes in the same sentence as Cup contenders for at least the next 4-5 years😢
@@rcktman0127 i actually disagree . I think the important core will all stick around (aho, svech, slavin, jarvis) and they may even find themselves with upgrades at depth forward and defense in the off season with all the movement and freeing up of space. if they can get their hands on a solid number 1 goalie to pair with kochetkov i think we might see them in the playoffs again as soon as next season depending on who they can find as replacements for lost players in the off season
As a die-hard Rangers fan, I know better than to expect an easy ride. In fact, I'm kinda glad we didn't sweep the Canes. They've been through a lot since Game 1 of this round. I'd rather have it this way than sweep both rounds. That would have meant a long wait between rounds, which is never good in the playoffs. Every team we face from now on is gonna be tougher. As a fan, I'll be a nervous wreck until we finally get that fourth win, no matter how the series goes. One shift, one period, one game at a time until we reach the ultimate goal!!!
This sure doesn't feel like a 94 kinda team, thinking gone in 3rd round. Truly does it matter much because the West is going to win the cup, whoever comes out of that talent pool.
I'd have to disagree because the only good goaltender in the west is oettinger. Demko maybe if he returns, but you could have the best talent up front, if they hit a defensive wall, you're screwed.
Yeah, I'm a Rangers fan and I expected them to take this series, and the next series but this was a strange one. A couple games, I think 1 & 2 they won but appeared to be outplayed they still seemed to have control of the games...and game 6 Canes ringing 2 goal posts only to surrender the 2 goal lead. I mean you look at this series and say the Rangers had 2 things the Canes didn't, goaltending and luck as they appeared dominated and outchanced much of the time...but if you look deeper the Canes had very few screens, very few in close deflection chances and the Rangers achilles heal aka the slot was pretty well covered mostly...I'm enthralled, been a Rangers fan for many years and I forgot what it's like to have a coach who actually employs strategy.

@@andrewpaschall8992 Freddie Anderson was outplayed by Igor tho only cuz Igor was even hotter than he was. Plus in 3 of 4 losses, Carolina let up at least 4 goals, which isn't great. Carolina drew a tough opponent, so really they shouldn't blame themselves too hard

The only exception is Colorado, but their defense was superb.
The Canes had both
@@andrewpaschall8992 Freddie Anderson was outplayed by Igor tho only cuz Igor was even hotter than he was. Plus in 3 of 4 losses, Carolina let up at least 4 goals, which isn't great.
Carolina drew a tough opponent, so really they shouldn't blame themselves too hard
I concur
Panthers it is. Should be a great ECF! Rangers will have to be at their best!!
LGR!!!
As the canes social media said “cry”.
Canes fan checking in. Now that it's over, I'd happily get on board with Igor lifting the cup. Plus quickie getting another one might lead to new superstitions, and I'm all about that too. Go get it Rags.
I'm a short term Rangers fan for their next series. If they fall to the Panthers I'll be a temporary fan of whoever wins the West. I really hope the Rangers win in 6 or less.
Please sweep the cats do it for the 🐻 let’s go original six!
No when I found out the bruins lost game 6 this year I was the kid in the beginning 😂😢
Goaltending made the difference in this series. It just wasn't there for the Canes.
Congrats to the Rangers but what the hell do you do now as the Hurricanes? You went all in getting Tarasenko, Kuznetsov and Guentzel still struggled and snuffed out early.
Retool in the works?
rod is gone...they didn't renew waiting on this playoff run...freddie joins him...
@@Franciscasieri You're absolutely delusional if you thought Rod was going anywhere.
Looking like it will be 2024 LGR.They are playing to win the Tin CAN!!
Brind’ Amour’s rigid commitment to the system is going to end up costing him his job. He’s a good coach, but he cant switch anything up mid period, and it’s really starting to show in Playoff series year after year.
The fact that no one seemed to comfort that young boy and he was just left there crying by himself at the end of the game will always irritate me.
That's right man. Never doubted. All comments of mine to the contrary are photoshopped.
They did that kid so dirty
It's absolutely not controversial to say that Anderson is a lesser goalie than Igor.
Let’s go Rangers 👏👏👏👏👏
Crazy series. Carolina has a solid fan base, would've rooted for them if the Rangers lost. Definitely won't root for FL or Boston
Welp my bracket got crushed

lol the rangers have most Atlantic division fans rooting for them at this point. As a leaf fan I want yall to win it all. Go rangers (and knicks)
As a Montréal fan i hate the 2010 NYR
Hoping it'll be Canucks/Panthers in the final cause of the ridiculous travel involved 😂
Congratulations kid, yer a meme now
I believe the Florida Panthers will be in the Stanley Cup finals❤❤❤ playing against Dallas Stars or Edmonton Oilers who have in the past defeated the Dallas Stars
Yeah Anderson just looks slow in the net lot of dumb fumbles, would have rather seen Pyotr starting yeah hes made some mistakes but he is a big reason they were so high in the standings HE PERFORMED!
Next season will likely be Mr. Anderson’s last season as a Hurricane. Then it’ll be Kochetkov for years.
W NEW YORK
I thought the canes controlled the play most of the series imo. Just couldn’t catch a break. Congrats to the rangers for sure
