- Final video in the sound system series in my 1986 Chevrolet K10. The stereo setup is a great system for a regular cab truck, consisting of two 10” Hertz subwoofers, two 6x9” Hertz speakers, and a 600 watt amplifier. I’m very happy with the outcome! Stay tuned for more on the K10 build!!!
😆😆 contemplating throwing some 12 inch subs in my 89k1500 extended cab, have had this thing 19 yrs...just now installed a Bluetooth head unit and 4 new 6x4s.... funny as a teen my imports would get systems within the week... didn't think I'd own this classic this long but here we are, older and wiser 😅😆😆
I just bought a 79 and was really looking for what other people did with their stereo set ups! I really like this set up!
This is literally the perfect setup for these square bodys 100% love the build.
Awesome sound my man. Great job. You have inspired me to do something in my 93 OBS extended cab.
very nice work. I have a 79 c10 and I am most likely going to do a custom set up similar to yours. I hope mine can look this nice
Nice work looking good.
Looks really good
Sunbscribed....Cool stuff....20 years ago I started competing in car audio shows and sure miss those days. I been wanting to do a center console or under seat enclosure just to add some thump.
Great job , but would recommend metal honeycomb grill covers to protect those cones.
Looks good man!
Good job
Like your set up, can u show or describe the 6x9 setup on sides and how it connects
I like it.
Great job. Wanna do mine next? Lol
I would like to see how you mounted your obs seats.
Great job! you should make start selling them??
Mounting depth of that box)
You should have put filler in the 6x9 also that way it won't sound hollow
Where did you get it and also will it fit a 1984 crew cab?
Hey Oklahoma here. The next time you strip a headliner leave the "skin" on the fiberglass it will make it seriously lumpy if you dont. I am an upholsterer and have done literally hundreds. You just have to take your time wile uesing a pot scrub brush to remove the old rotten foam. Nice k10 btw I have an 89 v10/k5 and an 85 c20 suburban. Join Sooner state squarebodys on FB.
Where did you mount the bass knob
Do y'all know if this would fit behind the rear seat of a squarebody crew cab?
Hey Braden how much for the box ?
I like the set up.
Would this set up work with a bench seat
Mounting depth of the sub?
We’re dos you get the panel for the 6x9?
Good afternoon do you build boxes for other people? If so how much?
What is the cuft. Size per subwoofer?
Nice...What model pioneer radio and stock alternator? 4 gauge wire from the battery? What type of m6 inserts used to attach to the wall?
Can’t remember the model of the deck, it’s pretty base model though. 4 gauge power wire, and used M6 U nuts to capture the bolts
Thank you do that on my truck Nager peas
Did you power the 6x9's with the amp? awesome job looks great.
Thanks! The amp is only powering the two subwoofers. The 6x9s are ran off the deck
did you have to modify the dash at all for the front speakers? i have a 75 k10, haven't taken the dash apart yet but it doesn't look like it has any holes for the sound to come out? also, does your rig have the windshield antenna?
I used Memphis 3.5 inch speakers and no modifications. Just reuse the brackets and the windshield antenna is a major piece of crap. Just clip an aftermarket AM/FM antenna on your windshield with a CB antenna mounting bracket.
I did have to do some minor trimming to make them fit, however on a 70s truck the dash is different and I don’t think you have room to mount corner speakers, just one in the middle. And yes I am running the windshield antenna
Hey bro from Texas love ur set up I have a 83 c10 I just started looking at radios to what u think about the ones that look factory
I do like the look, and was actually going to go that route. However I’ve heard mixed reviews about quality and longevity of them, and they are underpowered for running external amplifiers or subwoofers. Hence why I went the single din route
@@bradenrein ya I have to research more then
Would u say u used more than 1 sheet of 4'x8' of mdf?
Nope, a 4x8 sheet would be more than enough
They have some of that filler to make the bass sounded deeper bass bcuz a small box or not enough room
What’s the depth on that box? Like how deep before a sub motor hits the box
I wanna know this too 👆🏻
You have dimensions for the box?
I just did basically the same setup with 1 shallow 12 inch fosgate sub in sealed box. Ran amp to sub and head unit to the other 4 alpines in factory locations. Sounds great until I shut the doors then it’s muffled and I get about half the bass?? Any ideas?
Not enough air space to maximize the 12” sub?
how much power are you pushing to the subwoofer
Does your seats go all the way back and the box still fit
Seats just touch the box. I put the seat in the comfortable position, then built the box as big as I could within that space. So it’s very tight fitting
Never heard of this Nertz brand
Italian brand. For some reason Canadians buy it.
I thought the I'd of a sub box was for the box to help the sound but if you stuffed it it's not acoustically using the box for bass
Do you have a product list, I’m looking to build one too.
I don’t have one, best bet would be to watch the full 4 part series and see what products are mentioned in each video
How much is a system setup like that run? Trying to set a budget for my 87
Wanna say I had around $800-$1000 CAD into the entire audio system
Why did you choose the Italian speaker brand? (Hertz)
Honestly had good luck with them and they’re a fairly inexpensive option
Where did you get that box?
Built it myself in previous videos
Where’d you get the box?
Fully built by myself, check my previous videos
Sask squarebody gang
Sask square bldg here too! Just saw the plate in the video
Whereabouts you guys from?
I'm in Weyburn
Get rid of the filler, i know why some peole doe it fore a soft dampening but the inside cavity of the box is just as important as everything in fron of the speakers. Enclosures dont quite work the way people think they do and neede to effectively "pulse" air forward and backwards in and out a lot like AC electrical current does.
What amp is that an is it a 3 way amp?
It’s a 500 watt soundstage amp. I believe it is a 2 way amp
What seats are those
95-98 Chevy pickup front seats
Where did you get the box
I built it myself
@@bradenrein what’s the measurements on your box
I don’t have all the exact measurements on hand, but if you watch the first video on the box it briefly shows the main measurements
@@bradenrein thanks
The poly FLUFF MAKES A SMALLER BOX SEEM BIGGER. IT BASICALLY SLOWS DOWN THE SOUND WAVES. YES ITS GOT ITS OWN SOUND... but that’s how you cheat a room for a SPEAKER OR BOX SIZE... Air space requirements... Blah blah blah. Nice box. I WANT ONE OR DIMENSIONS TO BUILD MY OWN . PLEASE THANKS
Nice work man, but we gotta get you on some better music haha
Haha I was thinking the same thing. I think he just played this so he didn’t get copyrighted
Yep you’re correct. Used totally different music for actually testing it, but for copyright reasons I couldn’t film that part lol
@@bradenrein yes sir. Thank you for posting this video. I just bought an 86 k10 and I’m doing a restomod on it. Nobody in my town has a nice obs k10, can’t wait to flex on the kids at my high school
What about the tweets and mid range in the doors? Come on bro don't skimp on that.. My 1st system was a pickup truck, I had the 1st original kickers behind the seats like you do, I had my tweeters and mid range in the doors, I think I had 6 inch mids in the front dash as well. I miss that system, it was like 1991 it was so loud. But good job bro
I swear we had the same truck, at the same time! Awesome stereo! 😁
Wtf is the sound coming from the speakers
Hey may I want to ask you some questions about this setup, do you have Instagram by chance so i can message you there?
Absolutely! @breincustoms
@@bradenrein ill dm you shortly
