Hi Kevin, great review. Metal Head was my first figure in early 90's here in Czech Republic. Me and my cousins has around 20 G.I.Joes back in the days, but they are long gone. Thanks for memories.
great figure and the one I was hoping you would do for this week. It took me a long time to find him unbroken but when I did I was very fortunate to get the short peg version, which I feel is a much better design and holds up to the test of time much better.
Kevin, I am glad that you did this review. I purchased a Metal Head, that was missing the backpack launcher. I never saw him in the stores after that, naturally I am glad I bought it. Would you happen to know if he came only one per-case?
I can't find any information on case production numbers. Traditionally, a case of 48 figures had less Cobras in it than Joes - I would assume a more complicated figure like Metal-Head would be made in fewer numbers on top of that, but who knows?
man love your reviews! can't wait just ordered metal head off eBay, you are right about the prices they are high because he's fragile but luckily I found one with no broken pegs!
I believe a reliable peg "fix" would be to get a small steel rod of the same thickness and a drill bit the same size, and drill small holes where the pegs broke off. Cut the steel rod and sand/grind the ends flat- or if you have the tool, bevel the external ends slightly so they will go into the holes easier. Open the figure so glue can be added inside to secure the steel pegs. They would be a bit obvious without the weapons attached, but would be functional. Just to let you know, I took another look at that US Army figure with jetpack. They're sold by a company called Excite located in Texas, but the box also said "distributed by Dolgencorp". They did have more than a few other toys like a large pirate ship, some US Navy licensed toys, and a jet, all branded with various companies, but they all look like Chap Mei toys that were probably bought in bulk by US distributors and repackaged. I didn't buy the set as I'm really trying to budget what I spend money on right now, but looking at it closely the backpack peg does look to be the same size as a vintage Joe peg. There's also a UAV drone in the line.
I never liked this figure. Yes, i am biased towards scrap-iron and hasbro should have made a newer version since scrap-iron was already working for Destro in the MARS division.

Formbx257 your stop motion is always entertaining, keep up the gr8 work.
I always thought that it was weird that Scrap Iron wasn't redone as an Iron Grenadier figure.
Cool review, been waiting awhile for a decent metal head review. Still waiting for one of you top reviewers to review fast draw :)

it's a Steven Seagal action figure
the color of the glasses is right, all it's missing is a huge belly!
