In the DIC cartoon Metal Head was always paired with the Dreadnok Gnawgahyde. He very much served as a comic relief and a source of frustration for the Cobra Commander, always messing up Cobra's plans either by leading failure or disaster by him. (this may have been done due to the popularity of TMNT's Bebop & Rocksteady at the time).
The second file card doesn't mention Destro because he had to quit the Iron Grenadiers to work at his dream job as a hockey fight annalist for Sportsnet in Canada.
Love Metal-Head! I had version 2 as a kid, and the Scorpion vehicle, wasn't it? Now I have V1, one with broken pegs, and one with unbroken pegs. Very memorable in the cartoon. Tremendously posable with his missile launching gear. A top tier figure all the way, and one of my all time favorites.
The first appearance of Chef Viper was in the episode the joes visited the sunken cobra helicarrier. He was living in the sunken wreck, listening to Cold Slither on repeat.
Another great of 1990. The colors, sculpt and design were great. I'm glad that they kept the Iron Grenadiers going after their introduction. I thought they were all very strange but Metal Head was awesome. I like the boots and the knee pads. His missile gimmick was typical of the 1990s. He was one of the few memorable characters in DIC era of cartoons.
@@cristiantiniguar-sevilla467 I know he started as Optimus primal, I was thinking maybe I could acknowledge something good that Isn’t talked about as often. Plus, his role as Optimus primal isn’t more important than his role as prime, they’re both important.
Hey you even pronounced Heckler & Koch correctly, that's why you're a top tier Joe reviewer! But my favourite part is still, always, the way you say that final "about 90 degrees" 😁
"BANG"!!! BANG!!!" The appearance in the DIC cartoons was one of the craziest characters in G. I. Joe, ever created. It was a shame that we never got a figure of his Grandmother.
I'm not going to be as long winded as I was on the patreon video. I really liked this character as a kid. I wish the leg pegs didn't break so easily. I'm looking to collect the Grenadiers again. I hope I can find this figure with intact pegs. Version 2 probably had no mention of Destro because Destro was lost....in space ha ha.
Metal-Head's theme song is giving me vibes from Star Trek IV and the song "I hate you", too bad there are no Vulcan's around to pacify him. Maybe a Vulcan Missile will do the trick!
@HCC788 - Brian, I am REALLY impressed by your increased weapons knowledge over the past year or so. I think it is neat that you reference the real world weapons that inspired so many of the GI Joe weapons. Thank you Man!
Metal Head announced for classified series!! that will be a preorder FOR SURE!! he's always been one of my favorites, have the original broken pin 1st series, made my own custom 25th version. in my own head cannon, he's part of Destro's Iron Grenadiers, working as a saboteur to throw off Cobra Commander, as Destro tried to take over the Cobra organization. as such, he's not only a demolitions expert, but also an expert marksman, and just crazy enough to be Destro's guinea pig for research and development. and of course he'd hang with the Dreadnoks, because why the hell wouldn't he??? sooooo.. as for classifieds, we got Mutt and Junkyard; and Metal Head confirmed, a mention of Shockwave... maybe we get Cutter and Bullet-Proof, Headsman and his Headhunters? god damn it hasbro, stop making me spend money!!!
I believe Dave Dorman also did a lot of Star Wars art. That is where I know him from (assuming same artist). He does really nice work. I enjoyed the review. Thanks.
I sold my original Metal Head, one I bought in 1991 off the pegs over a year ago. This figure was in the shop I sold it today and I bought it back. The left arm elbow had cracked as soon as pulled it out of the bag I put him in over a year ago when I sold him to the shop. That surprised me. Are 1990 elbows prone to cracking like 1988 now or was it just Metal Head figures?
I can't unsee the fact that the head sculpt of v1 looks just like Julian from Trailer Park Boys. If only you could remove the googles and put a drink in his hand...
I almost died with the Beavis and ButtHead at the beginning. Awesome. I did not have Metal-Head but my cousin did and it was one of his favorite figures. Metal-Head is a good figure. Destro was supposed to have some of the most advanced tech on the planet so I can buy they somehow managed to squeeze in all those missiles on a named VIP leader character. I do question why Destro would ever trust a complete dumbass like Metal-Head with any weapon other than perhaps.... and this is a big perhaps.... a mop or broom handle. I was long out of GI Joe by the end of the line so I've never seen the V2 Metal-Head. Its ok and in a way makes sense. Cobra is not exactly ethical so I can see them rebuilding Metal-Head with cybernetics to make him more useful. Keeping the same crazy and not to bright character traits they could have made him more menacing. A psycho that was crazy enough and dumb enough pull the trigger not caring much if he survived just as long as he got to blow you up.
This was a good review Commander! I love the Great Cornholio. 😆 Metal Head is a crazy figure but something about him does make him cool. Another amazing review Commander!
Dont like the look of the first Metal Head much but he has cool accessories I put those accessories on V2 Metal Head that version is very cool, nice sculpt awesome colours
I hated that helmet and was bothered that the headsculpt for Metal-Head didn't match the card art because his hair needed to be plastered back for the helmet to work.. and even then the helmet looked stupid.. like that villain in the Tick.. Anyways my intentions as a kid was to get Metal-Head 2 and to see how a head swap would look.. Never got around to it though and never found a version 2.. Did anyone else try this swap ?.. got pictures and Facebook ?.. I'd love to see it.
What if, knowing Ripchord and Snake Eyes were both gunning for him for the deaths of Candy and the Soft master, Scrap Iron grew a beard and adopted a new identity. Both worked for Destro, both have the same specialty, and Metal Head seems to.... try to hard? Almost like he's hyping up a different personality.

NGL I always loved the pairing
Then he was paired with Road Pig in Season 2.
NIN? Manson? Beavis and Butthead? Best Joe review EVER
also UHF easter egg
Another 10/10 review from the best channel on youtube.
The second file card doesn't mention Destro because he had to quit the Iron Grenadiers to work at his dream job as a hockey fight annalist for Sportsnet in Canada.
One of my favs.
Ultimate facts.
I will always remember Metal-Head always shouting BANG during the DIC cartoon

This review rocks! It was great to see the different versions of this character.
Metalhead is definitely one of the better 90s Joe characters and figs. Really glad you reviewed them both HoodyCoCo

Two things.
1 he always reminded me of Cactus Jack the wrestler
2 how did he not go deaf having those missiles shoot from just behind his head
He's a metal head, he's already deaf. 🤘😊🤘
I love your reviews bro, keep on track. By the way, i live in Argentina 😊
Gary Chalk also voiced Optimus Prime in the Transformers Armada, Energon, and Cybertron cartoons.
First and foremost, he started his Transformers career as Optimus Prim*AL* in the preceding "Beast Era."

Great review Hoodie CoCo!

He appeared in the GI Joe Nes and arcade game.
I always remember Metal-Head in the Alcatraz episodes lol
Another one of my earliest figures. Really liked this dude.
Seriously we need a Classified Metalhead
Hello past me, we're both getting a cool surprise in the near future
"BANG"!!! BANG!!!" The appearance in the DIC cartoons was one of the craziest characters in G. I. Joe, ever created.
It was a shame that we never got a figure of his Grandmother.
I donated all my orignal gi joes to the sioux on rose bud in south dakota, for xmas 96. Good cause wish I had not.
Interesting figure. I remember Metal-Head being the second boss in the arcade game.
Super duper review Hoodie! Metal Head rulz!

Metal-Head in an insane version of Moneywrench from the Sunbow Cartoon.
Gotta love Rock Viper

The Granny Dearest 90s episode. Oh no! 😄😆🤣
@HCC788 please do a colab with Toypolloi to show how to repair the broken pegs on the figure please
@HCC788 - Brian, I am REALLY impressed by your increased weapons knowledge over the past year or so. I think it is neat that you reference the real world weapons that inspired so many of the GI Joe weapons. Thank you Man!
One of my favorites as a child
Ya, susu gar, where he beats up the other susu-gardners and yells *BANG* when he kicks puppies.
Metal Head won Bang Bang!

Metalhead was memorable from the DiC cartoon.
I can't unsee the fact that the head sculpt of v1 looks just like Julian from Trailer Park Boys.
If only you could remove the googles and put a drink in his hand...
What is that magazine your looking at with Dave Droman art? Is that a Gi Joe encyclopedia?
You have a typo, it says 1994 Scrap Iron next to the figure instead of 84. Thanks for all your awesome content.
I learned that there was a variation. I had no idea
nice video
Sorry to say the Dic G.I. Joe series is my fave one besides the Serpentor area. 🖖💜👌
19:12 It's Julian from TPB.
You have a typo! Scrap iron is 1984 but your on screen notes say 1994
Metalhead also was a Boss in the Konami GI: Joe Arcade game.
Metalhead: The One Man Anti-Tank Weapon!
Did you just feel like there wasn't enough to say about v2 as a stand alone? I enjoyed the double review.
I used to pretend that Metal-Head V1 was Scrap Iron reborn.
Metal Head hasn't apeared in any of the newer comics, so maybe he has been posting videoes about Hockey these days.
Only now do I realize that Cmdr. sisko was cosplaying as metal head. Gadzooks they are literally wearing the same outfit.
Metalhead II’s shirt is puce.
No closing scene with Scrap Iron applying for Unemployment Compensation? I feel bad for him....

Everything. His color scheme, his accessories. He's a spectacular figure. 1990 was a very strong year, before it all went to hell.
I prefer version2, he fits in better next to voltar, as a proper iron grenadier...
Does Joe Con still happen? If so, they should book a band to do the Metal Head song live.
If they're already doing that... then carry on.
S
I always preferred Metal Head's portrayal in Issue 114 over the DIC character.
Dont like the look of the first Metal Head much but he has cool accessories I put those accessories on V2 Metal Head that version is very cool, nice sculpt awesome colours
The Best fix would be to put the v2 head on the v1 figure and maybe you'd have a better figure.
Metalhead uniform is definitely a Starfleet issue Kind The like Hazard suit from Star Trek Voyager elite forces video game
Squash-Head Harry = best name ever
My middle head as broken pegs on his lakes too and I like metalhead version to I thought it was a nice figure
How in the world did this fool win?🤔🤦🏾
😎👍
Why are you saying battle core it says battle corps right there on the box
Because "corps" is pronounced "core"
Purple Helmet, Purple Missile 😂 Hahaha In the Anglo/Aussie idiom this is not just a reference to the kit supplied to soldiers 🍆🍆
🤟🤙
I stopped caring about GI Joe in 1994
Looking at v1 face, cant help but thing steven Seagal

V1 is kind of ridiculous looking, but, at this point, most of it was ridiculous.

That’s now my headcanon.
scrap iron didn’t have the advantage of being a chameleon like Zartan or having a ninja clan at your beck and call.
HCC788: "So Metal Head now yells fire"
Me: "In other words..."
AVGN: "Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire!"
Lol😂😂😂😂😂
Cobra
I love metal head, but when I look at the v1 toy all I see is Steven seagal.
We are reviewing Metal Head and no metal music?!!
So if his grandmother served in WW2, thinks the Joes are criminals, and thinks that the fascist coded cobra are the good guys, what side was she on?
He has helmet hair lol
Metal-Head II's shirt color is bleh
Crimson red would have been a better color choice.
@@johnsoehnlen4781 Agreed
Hair helmet 😒😆
the DIC series had some very bad sound design
Action figures nice but I couldnt stand him in the cartoon
Creepiest intro....everzzzzzzz......
Ridiculous character and in the cartoon they made him incredibly goofy and annoying ta boot!!
Alas HCC788, you’re… not wrong. The DIC series was more for campy stuff like Inspector Gadget and the Littles rather than G.I.JOE but oh well… 🫤
