Awesome idea and upgrade! Getting ready to upgrade my trimmer to a Giraud and want to go the extra mile to have accurate case holders. Can you tell me the length of your custom holder after finishing? Want to make sure I get enough barrel blank for the gunsmith to do multiple calibers. Thanks John!
Great idea. I like your thinking. I believe L.E. Wilson case holders use a similar method. I thought they make a sized & non-sized case holder for their trimmer/sizer. I think I may have get me one of them Giraud trimmers.
I call Giraud and asked him if he was going to make a 6.5CM adapter for the Tri way. He said no. Reason being people who shoot CM are probably loading for accuracy and would be better served with his more expensive, more precise and repeatable trimmer. The tri way is set up for calibers where precision is good but not at the level needed for more demanding reloaders. So he said this prevents him from having a bunch of customer service calls from guys expecting Power Trimmer results from something a fraction of the price. Was interesting. I told him maybe someone local would let me use their Power Trimmer since I dont load enough :)
I’m sorry but he won’t make them for anyone else. It’s a lot of work. But I did just review a new product that a guy is making that does the same thing. ua-cam.com/video/3z1lCtS5Ce8/v-deo.html
I stopped for now but am going to start again next year. I never tumbled with primers in. I typically would anneal, size and then tumble to clean and get lube off as well in one pass. It always worked good for me.
Another way to check and confirm that your are following your proven process. Thanks for posting another very informative and helpful video.
Glad you find it helpful.
Per your recommendation I got the Giraud with the whidden adjustable rings and it’s freaking awesome…I just got through 200 cases lightning fast
Awesome!
@@FClassJohn do you know where to get these custom inserts, or can you recommend any?
do you sale those custom shell holder John?
Very nice hack John. I heard they scrubbed the BSWN in Feb. Good Luck with Nationals!
Thank you!
How far would you recommend that the case neck extend beyond the bottom of the die?

Mine vary in length but you basically need it to be about 2/3 of the total case length.
@@FClassJohn Thank you!
Wonder if they can be made off of a fired brass for the dimension..
don't have access to the reamer that was used when my 308 was rebarreled

I've never used the L.E. version but it's possible knowing how they do things.
Hi John,
Have you had a chance to use a cheaper version of Giraud trimmer (tri-way) ?
No I haven’t but I know people who have and really like it.

@@UWMitch Yeah that totally makes sense.
Have you given up on adapting the amp mate for the giraud
No, I've just adapted it for use on larger brass trims but on smaller batches I just knock them out by hand.
Who's your gunsmith? Can he ship these?

can you use this at the same time as that whidden click die?
Absolutely. If you look in the video you’ll see mine in the machine that way.
A little off topic, but you are still wet tumbling with the primers in? If you are, do you clean primer pockets after? Great videos! Thank you

Dang thats a fat case! What cartridge do you run?
It's a magnum 7mm. 7 Sherman Short
@@FClassJohn it looks cool. I've always wanted the 25cal version
Always great practical advise from you, thanks for making these videos
