    One more thing: one thing I really wish someone had told me when I started carrying 24 years ago-- *a good holster makes all the difference!*
    Spend as much on it as you can, because quality definitely makes a difference- in how it stays in place, retains the gun, protects the gun, guards against printing, etc.!
    I've always been a fan of leather and can't stand plastic/kydex, so I went with a Don Hume IWB with a clip. But, to each his own...
    That said, as cool as those inexpensive, black nylon holsters may look, they just don't work as well as something that costs a little more... fwiw.

    I have been involved with firearms since I was 12. (60 years ago) I am a certified firearms instructor. I teach that the feel of the firearm in one's hand(s) is the most important aspect of choosing a rifle or pistol. If the firearm doesn't fit properly, the shooter will not shoot well and will not have a positive experience. I also advocate buying American made firearms because I feel it's better to support American manufacturers rather than Foreign manufacturers. I'm not saying that Foreign made firearms are of poor quality, most are very good, I'm just saying that it's better to support our own country rather than others.

I'm not like some of these people who think he's the most anti gun president ever since that would be factually incorrect. But he did pass the ban on bump stocks and opened the door to red flag laws and possibly banning suppressors. Luckily he's dialed it back on those two things now but he definitely needs to do more for us in the gun community. If Republicans take back the House again, then urge your Congressmen to vote and pass the current bill that would take sbr's and sbs's off of the NFA registry and make it to where you no longer need to register to buy an sbr. If that bill passes, that's a good start to getting our right to defend ourselves back in full.

    I carry a G19, 12:30 appendix all day, every day. The most comfortable holster for me is definitely the Dale Fricke trigger guard holster called the "Zach". It's only around $20.00. It snaps on the trigger guard and is tethered to my belt with a nylon cord. That means 0 added bulk, negligible weight and makes for a safe/secure way to carry a 15 +1 compact gun comfortably all day.

    Once again Hegshot, excellent video. I am a firearms instructor. I teach that fit in the hand is the most important first consideration. When one grips a pistol, the thumb nail ought to land, somewhere along the middle finger finger nail. The thumb nail ought not wrap around so far as to pass the middle finger cuticle. As to a first pistol purchase, one can not go wrong with a S&W M&P Shield 380 EZ. 99.9% of all events, involving a pistol, end within 0 to 3 shots. (FBI statistics) I advocate that a person trains in use of the firearm and what ought to be done if the firearm is employed during a situation (display or fired)

Right now my main CCW is a PPS M2 (with the 7 round mag) in a Stealthgear Onyx, Kore Trackline X1 belt and a Black Arch horizontal mag carrier for the backup mag. I found after some experimentation that with my body type and dress, the cant on the Onyx actually allows me to easily conceal the M2 with the 7 round mag quite easily and the 7 rd mag it gives me an added measure of confidence with the draw and control. It took me quite a while to get to this combo, and I really appreciate these vids to help me continue to compare and contrast the options out there. Keep up the great work. Thanks.

    EDC (EASY Day Carry): with the idea that a bulky gun might influence me to neglect everyday, all the time carry; I have been liking the Sneaky Pete holster, with Ruger LCP w/crimson trace. I like that it keeps the gun fairly easy to access (magnetic silent flap), and to my pleasant surprise, it causes no one (including police) to even give it a second look when I'm out in public, because it looks like a nerdy cell phone case.
    I like that it's easy to clip on and off of my belt when getting into the car, or when I'm back home.

  • @scottyh1509
    @scottyh1509 2 роки тому

    Hickock's advice on concealed carry: "Get the smallest, lightest gun that you can shoot well". I don't think you need more than 6-7 rounds in a carry gun as a civilian. If you think you need more, carry extra magazines. So the best candidates might be Glock 42, Glock 43, Glock 43X, and Walther PPS m2. The bigger handguns work well for home-defense, car/truck guns, or at your place of business. Holsters are another topic, but key to carry success. Crossbreed makes good ones.

    2 cents from a person that carries a P320 Carry (full size grip, compact length, 17 rounds): The weight was awkward at first, but I carried it and my spare mag in my other pocket as a counterweight and I hardly notice the gun when I conceal now. Lots of these guns are great, but don't forget to account for your body type. My next carry pistol I'm looking for is a Glock 20 which I can cc because I am tall and am used to the weight. Essentially, before you buy, try and shoot any/all of these guns and more to know what it is actually like to operate and you'll find something that is right for you.

    • @kendallfleming5858
      @kendallfleming5858 4 роки тому +1

      That's not a mistake, science behind the grip has shown that pinky bears little to no weight on grip and grip pressure. Your pinky actually does more harm than help. It makes you want to cant your wrist. If you sliced your pinky off as Geauga Firearms Academy teaches, it won't affect aim in the least. Thus, pinky not fitting on the gun is really a non factor, since it doesn't hold a positive bearing in grip. Palm, middle, ring, index finger carry the grip pressure.

      @@reptilesgamers00 Can always replace the trigger. Wasnt a fan of it when I first got mine, but I actually like it now. Feels good now that I've carried it for a while.

      Went to the gun store 100 percent ready to buy the M&P Shield 2.0. Was psyched to get it. Then I held it and pulled the trigger. Long story short: I bought a Glock 43 instead and LOVE it!

    The Mod 2 and the Glock are my two top choices. The Glock 26 with a pearce +2 mag extension, and a G19 spare mag in the pocket is a great CC option.

    Great video as usual guys. I finally settled on a Daltech Force bullhide belt with a G43 w/TLR6 and Gearcraft or G- Code appendix IWB. Keep up the good work!

      My carry is the g2 but not the biggest fan of the trigger. But for the price I think it's a great buy.

      That's why I'm planning to get. Carry g2c and have a little snub nose .38spcl as backup or center console gun.

    I just had to smile when I saw that table. Like all gun owners, you've a collection and a whole bunch of different holsters that we've all bought, tried, and tried another.
    What I carry 3 seasons is a glock 43 on my belt underneath an untucked cover shirt with a 1791 Gunleather holster. I chose that gun because of its weight, effective caliber, and reliability. I have factory nights sights and rubber talon grips. I can't ask for a better gun. I chose that holster because it is dignified and not "tacticool" looking if it ever becomes exposed under my untucked cover shirt. Rugged, looks great, good retention.
    In the winter, or in social settings where I have to wear a jacket, I front pocket carry a smith 642 in a simple uncle mikes pocket holster. I've tried pocket carrying semis, and found that I have never been able to get the instant grip and draw speed from a pocket that a revolver possesses. The holster is after trying many, and that one just drops on the ground when I draw, snagging less (and more comfortable to wear) than a leather holster. I chose that gun because it is light, powerful, reliable, and has a shrouded hammer.
    I'm good with both my main EDC guns, and I've been carrying over 30 years.
