This is by far the most comprehensive and educational video I have ever seen. But after watching it, it made me ask if the hand is faster than the eye.
The video is very clear as opposed to what some people are saying... Then if you think you are to good for his lessons (listen up to what age category is talking to him) than go lookj for something harder... His lessons are great for motivating and teaching young musiciens
A wonderful, simplistic video. Attn: Herbert is more than likely instructing elementary school students, not Berklee aged men & women. I suppose that you'll would burden their little minds with modes, scales, arpeggios, chord progressions and such for the first lesson? Please. Great job Mr. Herbert, as you have the art of teaching down. It's about simplicity.
He's very pedagogical but all that talk about "sad" and "happy" is very subjective. Not everyone agrees to which chord or scale sounds sad or happy, that's why I feel his theories are pretty ill-founded. Why not instead mention the oriental flavour of the scale, or talk about its connection to the blues. No, I wouldn't stay with this tutor for a very long time...
