Hi. You make so much sense when you talk about style I love it! I would like to see those videos where you go round to people's places and help them find their 3 word method by going through their wardrobe please. x
I'm so happy you are back on UA-cam, Allison. I am so not a fan of that other video platform. In fact I went there just so I could watch your videos. And now I don't have to go there at all. Yah!
I always thought that adding a jacket really makes an outfit. In summer, an unlined linen or cotton blazer works well, in winter a wool one, and in autumn and spring, leather is perfect. I love my leather/suede jacket collection, I try to add one every year, and I keep them forever (I only buy fairly classic, genuine leather or suede ones). I love suede even better than smooth leather, but I wear both. Suede gives a softer look which suits my Soft Coloring type well, especially in black or other dark colors. I don’t like a very tough or edgy look, so I minimize the black, the hardware and other moto details. A leather blazer is ideal for my classic style. I also love suede and leather skirts and wear them a lot.
So helpful! I would like to see examples of giving a style word to describe your pinterst board/inspo board. Especially when your inspo pics seem all over the place😅
I use Pinterest for clothing that I recognise are already in my wardrobe but are styled in ways I love bur hadn't thought of, called 'already have' for added inspiration & a way to put the break on always buying more!
I love this video and I love your book. Any chance you will do a country cousin style video? After years of wearing Levi’s, boots, hats and suede or barn jackets, I am so happy that some of the trends are finally aligning with my personal style because that means next year more of these items will be in consignment stores. No matter what, I will follow along because I always learn from you. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. ❤👖
Would love to see a video where you talk about duplicates (same item, different color / very similar items). Whether it's a good idea or not, if it sometimes can make sense and when 😊
I don’t know where the idea “black goes with everything” came from. It doesn’t, it just sucks the life out of any color it’s worn with. White, on the other hand, really does go with everything. Either white or off-white can be combined with any color and look great. I think wearing too much black is partly from brands pushing it so much and partly because it’s thought to be “slimming”. But, it really doesn’t flatter most people and can so easily be overdone. I also don’t like the “dark on the bottom” rule, not everyone is obsessed with making their bottom half look smaller. Wearing light colors, especially white, on the bottom is ten times more chic. Think of Jackie in her white jeans, so elegant, yet relaxed.
This is so interesting. I am a 52 yo gay man who loves clothes. I guess I am going through a midlife crisis. I thought a lot about my 3 words. I think at this point they are 1. Military. 2. Pop of color. 3. Tonal dressing. Does it make sense? Am I crazy?
You can't feel 'tonal' well i don't think you can. I guess these are all aspirational words. But they should come from practicality and emotions too to serve the purpose. She explains in the video
I love these videos but so much is about styling what you already own. Post 2 babies and multiple international moves I need to rebuild my wardrobe and am overwhelmed trying to figure out what I need to buy first - and how to restock basics without feeling like everything I own is basic. A shopping tutorial would be so helpful!
I’d like to make a suggestion for you. Of course continue watching Allison and supporting her. Another wonderful stylist to watch on UA-cam is MM Personal Styling. They both have helped me to learn so much.
Loved your book and got it as a gift for a couple of my friends! Thrilled you're back on YT. I've been implementing your method and started using Indyx which has made getting dressed fun again!
Sometimes when I doubt whether I want to wear an item, I force myself to wear it for the day- and very often my reservations about it go away by simply putting it on and leaving the house. At times the hesitation is more inside my head than in reality.
I saw the three word method here from another stylist, Lauren Messiah that was uploaded 7 years ago. ua-cam.com/video/5cLBYFdD8RE/v-deo.htmlsi=aqsKiQjW2w9adJUB Also we did the wrong shoe in the 90’s when we wore Dr. Martens with dresses etc. But for people who aren’t aware, good thing that you break it down.
Wow, I’ve never seen that video but i actually feel so comforted to see it! It means we are on the right track if stylists are using similar approaches! ❤
I’d love to see some deep dive videos into different people’s styles. I’ve been fascinated by Liam Gallagher from Oasis recently. How does he manage to elevate seemingly simple clothes. Why does he look styled compared to slovenly? I noticed how much he wears Outerwear indoors.

As usual, delightful.
I would love to see you work with a maximalist...someone with a lot of fun clothes who is looking for inspiration on how to hone their style
3 Word Method: Practical. Aspirational. Emotional.

I was able to finally ... not go to my closet and say "I have nothing to wear." Thank you!
Would the book have value for older women? I’m thinking of ordering it but afraid that it is geared more toward younger trendier women.
It’s for everyone!
I’m listening to you thinking, “I still have too many clothes.” But it’s a process, right?
Yes!!
Can I have 4 words? Simple modern 70s chic
Yes!! As many as you find helpful!!
