I'm so sorry for your loss. Sadly, nothing prepares us for the journey that you've experienced, but take solace in the fact that you did the right thing and you did him proud.
Your dad was a great guy and he raised a good kid. He may not be "here" but he's not gone because: 1) His yard is still a mess and you need to clean it up. 2) He's too curious about the next thing you drag home. 3) He'll never give up the chance to haunt the living bejesus out of you. (Tools missing or out of place in the shop? Yup, that's him.)
I'm very sorry for the loss of your father. I've lost my grandfather and mentor in June and I know it's hard! Even though he had dementia for years. From the beautiful pictures and clips it looks like your father has had a full and amazing life. Something great to look back upon and remember. I'm in awe of his beautiful artwork too! Hang in there!
My condolences, sad to hear about what you've been going through. Hopefully you had a lot of quality time together towards the end just like all the great memories you seem to have together. We'll be here when you feel new energy to relax with your hobbies - but it's no job so don't stress it. Greetings from Sweden
Grief is not a quick process, and I feel your pain. I lost my wife of 28 years last March (2023) to a rare brain disease. It was an awful 5 year ordeal watching her go downhill, and as glad as I was for our God to call her home and end her suffering, her absence has been devastating to me. Always a project guy, she used to get irritated at me because I was constantly working on something! Steel fab, woodworking etc, I had to doing something! Now, all I care to do is sit. No interest at all in any of my hobbies. I hope you stay busy, remember the good times, his wisdom, and know that he’d want you to carry on! My thoughts are with you !
Sorry that happened to you. You never really get over the loss of your parents, you just make a little room in your life for the dad to day pangs of sadness thats left. You can make it better by conditioning your memory process to kick in only good memories of them as soon as you start to feel that pang of sadness. It takes time and practice but you'll see, it gets a little easier to deal with everyday. We'll be here when you're ready to show us what you were taught!
