What a great recipe. I love when Richard makes an appearance. I think a garlic crouton topping would be great too. Thanks again. Best channel on UA-cam
Thank you Jeffrey!!! Before my Mother passed, she used to make a delicious Corn Chowder with Ham. This recipe sounds delicious & after making it as written, I'm thinking of experimenting by adding some creamed style corn with a little bit of whole kernel corn to see IF I can come close to duplicating the taste of Mother's Love that she put into every bite. Occasionally, for a change of flavor, she replaced the ham with chicken & it was still delicious!!! I also want to thank you for introducing me to Better Than Bullion!...I enjoy ALL their flavors!!! I'm excited to have the Ham now. Due to doctor's orders, we weren't allowed to use ham hock to flavor our greens or the like. As a substitute, Mom used a dash of vegetable oil with a little bit of granulated ham bullion. I do believe that substituting the dry granulated bullion with the Better Than Bullion Ham Flavored, that I will have a better flavor for my greens, peas, green beans, & the like. Since Richard is a good old Southern boy, he might enjoy it as well. Thanks again for ALL the inspiration!!!
Tried this for dinner tonight. Very good. Didn't think about the potatoes basically turning to mush when stirring everything together. Helps give it that nice thick texture.
Oh that looks delicious you are making me hungry and I just got done eating breakfast. I'm definitely going to have to try this recipe thank you so much for sharing it.
The looks sooo good. I love a thick chowder. Not sure my son will love it with all the cheese, but his girlfriend and I will. Loved the cauliflower swap. You could buy a ham steak instead of going to the deli. A little less expensive, and I've noticed thicker slices lately. I always try to have one in the freezer for a quick meal. Thanks Jeffrey!
I used to work in advertising. We were casting some food commercial with little kids. Well, one of the kids during his audition started kissing the package as we rolled, we were like WTF haha, when you kissed the Better Than B. package, it had me giggling..... thanks, Jeffrey.... you always bring a smile to my face
Very creative ! That looks really good ! You could also add some broccoli ? When I do the water and bouillon thing, I combine it in the pot so all you have to do is turn the measuring cup over on the dish strainer to dry instead of having to wash it. Great looking soup ! I’d love to try it !
Love you, Jeffrey 😘! I made a ham yesterday in my IP and of course, I have the Ham Better Than Bouillon (I think I have five other flavors including the clam base one for Clam Chowders) so guess what I’m making for dinner! Keep them coming, kiddo!
Hey, I raised my hand. 😁. I even waved. I recently picked up BETTER THAN BOUILLON. About 5 or 6 new flavors. I really do love it. Thanks for introducing it. 👍🏻👍🏻
It's 45 degrees here in Miami and I'm freezing! Hey stop laughing this is COLD for us. This recipe will be perfect for dinner tonight. I have all the ingredients expect the Better Than Bouillon, so I guess I'll have to put on my boots, long johns and puffy coat and go to the store.
I actually use the ham base more than any other variety 'cause I like it in cooking dried beans. Sadly, my grocery stores only carry the beef, chicken and vegetable, but the BTB website is easy to order from and fast. I've also bought their Better Than Gravy mix and it's tasty, but I have to order it also. Great to put in either pot roast or stew in the slow cooker mode.
I fell in love 🥰 with Better than Boullion the first time I made your recipe on Mississippi pot roast. (Absolutely the bomb BTW) The down side is my wife didn't like it because she thought it was too salty. So now I'm in a conundrum where I love it but my wife not so much.
I was so glad to see BtB ham base at my store! Ham base is hard to find around here. I use it to make ham and bean soup but I'll be trying this recipe this week!! Your recipes have never failed for me, so I know it'll be fabulous!! Also, you and Richard are a seriously adorable couple!
Yes, again my heart went putter-patter watching this, which means it will be bad for me but I’m gonna enjoy making this. Thank you for the entertainment and the recipes.
Wow Jeffery, saw ya on Rachael ray today, can't wait to see your new cook book out in April. I just wish you would make a pressure luck cookbook, with all your wonderful recipes.can't wait to make this .
How dare you be so goddamned charming. When you said "Well they say you are what you eat, and I AM a bit of a ham..." I just about died. Love your videos. Could you highlight their Roasted Onion boullion sometime soon? I bought a jar, and I just know you'll be able to make a dozen different recipes with it.
I made this today but used only 2 cups of cheese. For my taste, it seemed to be missing something. Maybe onions, not sure. Now that it's sitting overnight in the fridge I will taste it again tomorrow to see if I have the same opinion.
Looks amazing. Curious though. How does this perfect tasting dish react after freezing then reheating in a microwave? Do the oils separate and taste funky? I looking for new ideas for meals when working. Thanks...PS, I love anything cheese!
I don't really like thick chowders so I plan on using 2 tbsp of the cornstarch slurry. Should I still use the 4 cups of cheese or should I use less cheese as well?
@@PressureLuck I was going to make this today but my local Walmart didn't have the ham base so I had to make something else. I'm going to have to find the ham base at a different store or something
My husband accidentally bought fat free half and half so I used that and you can't tell the difference. So if you want to save a lot of calories use it in the soup which was amazing!!!!!
I use BTBoullion "lobster" base to make shrimp and grits and also a great fake shrimp "lobster" bisque with frozen shrimp instead of lobster.....I've never seen a "shrimp" base in the store.
ive been snapping my fingers for 10 minutes now....that damn Ham isnt getting smaller. I dont know how you do it, but im gonna go grab my knife i gues and try this one out...
YUMMY! And next, you'll make this recipe clean KETO right?! (no starch, msg, etc) EDIT: I just looked up the ingredients to the 'Better than Boullion - Absolute poison! Oh well... I'll try this though but modify with a clean Keto recipe list of ingredients ;~) BtB Ingredients: "HAM - WATER ADDED (HAM, WATER, DEXTROSE, SALT, CORN SYRUP SOLIDS, VINEGAR, SODIUM PHOSPHATES, SODIUM ERYTHORBATE, SODIUM NITRITE), SALT, HYDROLYZED SOY PROTEIN, SUGAR, FLAVORINGS, NATURAL SMOKE FLAVOR, CORN STARCH, CORN OIL, SOY FLOUR. CONTAINS SOY"
Your recipe for Chicken & Dumplings is the most amazing I have ever had!
BTB is the bomb!
Richard walking away with the bowl is priceless!
Love your recipes & your style!
Omg a Richard appearance! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💜💜💜
What a great recipe. I love when Richard makes an appearance. I think a garlic crouton topping would be great too. Thanks again. Best channel on UA-cam
The amount of cheese that went in I really don’t think you need to worry about the potato carbs. My arteries are furring just watching this.
There’s only 6.5 carbs in a lb of cheddar cheese surprisingly

That’s Amazing, without a doubt the best ham and cheese chowder I’ve ever seen, will surely be trying! Thank you again! Happy New Year!!
I dig grilled cheese and ham, but my weakness is grilled cheese and bacon. I'm thinking some bacon crumbles would be great on this. 🤔
Great minds think alike. :)
Honestly bacon is to die for!!!!!!!!!
Great add!
Jeffrey loved my idea!
@@RobSchellinger I am thinking add some corn as well

You read my mind Jeff! We love ham & cheese croissants. But you know we’re all trying to avoid the bread! Thank you for this!
Love love love him walking away with the bowl!!! 😍😍😍
This is a great recipe I can't wait to try! Just what is needed when it's cold. You are right we love better than bouillon at my house
nicely done Jeffery, and Richard too, always coming in at the right time
Fantastic Jeffrey! Happy New Year to you, Richard and Banjo 😃

I am sitting here thinking about my cheese and potato stock. I already have ham. Enjoyed your video.
Keep up the good work Jeff, I can't wait to make this, thank you for sharing this recipe
I have chicken beef turkey ham mushroom roasted onion and I think some roasted garlic. I don't know about the last one??? But I just love them all.
I just made ham, potatoes, cheese and bacon soup with yummy crusty bread. Thank you.

I would substitute the corn starch with Einkorn flour, looks good

Half of Better than Bouillon users are fans thanks to you😅😅
I have actually never used better than bouillon is it super salty?
I don't really like thick chowders so I plan on using 2 tbsp of the cornstarch slurry. Should I still use the 4 cups of cheese or should I use less cheese as well?
You can also always add more broth if you think it’s too thick. As for the cheese feel free to start with less and add more.

whats the difference between a chowder and a bisk..?
Another winner
You should make that for Rachael Rey and John. They'd live it
My husband accidentally bought fat free half and half so I used that and you can't tell the difference. So if you want to save a lot of calories use it in the soup which was amazing!!!!!
Yum! Okay, I've got to make a run to the grocery store.
Love!
Jeff, the only thing I'd do different is FRY THAT HAM before entering it into the pot - get that carmelized flavor.
Where is the link for the garlic herb cheese?
In the written recipe
Where do you pick up their flavors besides the basics? I can't find them in my stores
It looks real good. But I wonder how long it will be before the digestion starts to "flow" again LOL .
Is Richard your brother? It's always good to have a taste tester beside you.
I use BTBoullion "lobster" base to make shrimp and grits and also a great fake shrimp "lobster" bisque with frozen shrimp instead of lobster.....I've never seen a "shrimp" base in the store.
😂🤣 I love Richard
if you are using potatoes already swap the corn starch for potato stach
I think I heard everyone who has viewed this left ventricle slam shut.
Jeff, since u informed me of the BEST cheese around (boursin) , im going to share the best butter around, kerrygold!
I'm thinking some onion would be nice to.
That looks deliciously awesome....but not for the "lighter" book!!!!
Jeffrey, come to So Cal! But bring your sunscreen; it was 70s and sunny today.
better than bullion should sponsor you lol
I love you 😂😂😂
Ladle that right into a bread bowl and.......well, you know, ENJOY
ive been snapping my fingers for 10 minutes now....that damn Ham isnt getting smaller.
I dont know how you do it, but im gonna go grab my knife i gues and try this one out...
Great recipe ! Gotta try this! Tell Richard I said "How bout those Dawgs" !
Ci vuole 1 settimana per digerire un piatto come questo...
Your written recipe states 3 cups of water but your video states 4 cups, so what is it?
the first ingredient in the written recipe says 4 cups ham broth
Like using the Better then bull stuff and thank you for not making us watch you cut thing's up as if we are too stupid to do so!

Better than Bouillon needs ro work on gluten free before it can brag on how "great" it is.
