  • One recently retired Missouri educator/administrator explains retirement after retiring TWICE in two years. Retirement is a lot more mental than financial I have learned. Once you take care of the finances, you have to deal with the mental overload. What do I do now? How do I schedule my day? What's for lunch? What about all the things I started and thought would do when I retired?

Hi Melinda! I loved following you when I was a principal and used many of your ideas over the years! We have a lot in common as I retired after 30 years in education at age 53 in 2019. I was a principal for 15 years and a teacher for 15. Loved my career, but after 30 years, I felt it was time to retire. Like you, it is difficult to describe a typical day. I love not having the stress of being a principal, but I do miss the routine and the teachers and students. I look forward to seeing the content you come up with for your channel and wish you the best!

This is the nicest comment!! I am so glad I helped you in any way at all. I never knew if anyone listened or heard me. I just know I loved principals and teachers and schools. This year is a little better but I was lost last year! This channel and your comment helps. Here’s to our new normal!!!!

I retired 2 years ago and it took me a while to settle into it but loving it now. I've been listening to a lot of different retirement channels on You Tube and noticed that 95% of them are men so t's nice to have a female perspective. Thanks for your honesty, I enjoyed the video

@@Felicia8888 I sure hope I can bring a different perspective. I love the other channels too! But there is more to retirement than just the financial part.

I retired from teaching and the last thing I want to do is sub. The thought of going into an unexpected class and not knowing the behavior I will encounter does not sound fun at all. But I do know it’s a good choice. Love your channel!

@@corinabecerra953 I thought the SAME thing but I am subbing at a HS and not at the elementary level. So different and the kids are either going to do what they are supposed to or they are on their phones🤷🏼‍♀️ I have not had any behaviors so far. I mean minimal attitude but that’s just teenagers.

@@FIRE_DrNinjaTurtle I love that you have a channel too! A couple local colleges are trying to get me to come work for them but I am not ready for full time.
