I was absolutely shoketh at the Make You Move over Bloodfell Caves pick. A, as Jim said himself, passable common if you have exactly one copy of it over a possible splash enabler early in the draft seems insane to me. From Jim, who always preaches about taking lands over mediocre commons early, no less
BELIEVER. My most drafted archetype, love these colors in this format. Definitely missing another sac payoff like an amulet and we’re hurting a little for 1 or 2 more playables but we’ve got great removal and a couple nice things to build to.
I think that the difference about this draft and others draft, is the presence of quick drafts which enables a lot of new players that doesnt play limited as a regular pace
Great finally seeing you with the Elenda! Deck feels like its just one Dazzling Angel or Helpful Hunter away from being really good, but I'm still a believer.
Yeah it's bordering on bm to rope on every resolve in every combat. I would've conceded too if I were the opponent. It's not worth it to spend 30min+ on one limited game.
You should just play 17 lands instead of a bad card. A lot of other pro-MTG players say you should play 17 lands in Arena best-of-one, but regardless of that it's close in paper and Arena between whether to play 16 lands or 17 lands, so if you're choosing between putting a bad card in your deck or the extra land, just put the extra land in, it will be better for you more often than the bad card will be.
BELIEVER. Elenda, removal, and recursion. That's all that's needed, and the Arbiter of Woe and Fiendish Panda supporting that plan helps a lot. Won't deny the lack of card draw and number of below-average cards in this deck scares me, but I choose to have faith.
P1P3 Don´t taking Reinforcement because of "unplaying" Panda shows imho again one of the main promblems of Jim´s drafts. with only two picks he has already determinate his colours. Not staying open at this early point in the draft often ends in a mediocre deck, even if w/b may be the best single colours. In addition I thing reinforcements also is the better card than Panda. Btw. of course Banishing Light was the right pick in the end, I think, but not for the reason to hold on Panda.
i mean in his defense, you dont want to pick a card (when its close) if it means losing out on a early pick, you want aim to play as many of your early picks as you reasonably can. as your really picks are gonna be your best cards on avg. but that being said, point to you, you do want to stay open pack 1. which is why i think the real mistake in draft philosophy here was taking a gold card first pick. yeah it ened up making the deck but he kinda forced white and green did look a fair bit more open distipde what Jim said.
I partially agree, but you should still avoid multicolored cards in your first 3-4 picks, for the very same reasons you stated. P1P1 Panda was ok bcs it was the best card by far.
@@enricomassignani i think angel was perfectly reasonable alternative. i wouldnt say panda is "by far" better. its better, yes, but mono color is just a much safer pick. and your not losing out on a ton. angel is still a very strong card
Jim has mentioned his "rules" for bronze to mythic. Does anyone know where to find them? It was something like no aggressive combat tricks or something where he mentioned it
In my experience with this draft (not really saying much since I’m not the best at drafting) BW is a trap unless you truly have the pieces..first pick angel would have the been the piece Imo , that cat pick rd 2 was the trap too
Too bad there wasn't more synergy. You really had to work hard to get those 4 wins. Packs were super weak this draft. Might have gotten away with a golgari deck. Lots of above average green uncommons, some elf synergy with the black removal.
Deck strikes me as a 5 win or so deck. If you draw the right stuff, feels like it will look pretty powerful and on its way to a trophy....but also looks like you could draw the wrong side of it and just end up with a bunch of sages or skeletons and no real way to make use of the value from that stuff.
tap lands, its reasonable to run them anyway for the panda, but with only one card that really benefits from it, its perfectly reasonable to not run them too
I have a suggestion. Could you make all videos 2 hours (just put some stock footage at the end) so that the video lentgh does not spoil how well the deck does.
If I recall correctly, this trick messes with youtubes recommendation algorithms. It will see that most people stop watching way before the video is over, and thereby assume that the video is bad and not recommend it to more people.
I’m kind of stunned how often you say a card is good when the win rate stats of it are horrible. Panda isn’t very good even in black white if you look at the data

This is me commenting to support Jim Davis and liking the video along the way

Classic situation to maybe be Mardu and to speculate on that and then pick bad removal. SMH
19:50 BELIEVER. Well rounded deck, even if it seems underwhelming.
That opp playing the Elenda the turn after your banishing light in game 5 was ridiculous

this deck looks a lot better than the previous few- good removal, actual threats. believer
I’ve watched a lot of BtM at this point and this may have been like the weirdest set of games I’ve ever witnessed
31:00 Jim, the savage slow roller

Believer in the medicore decks!

"Thanksgiving is tomorrow?" I'm watching this on the 1st day 2025..😐
Plot twist Jim is playing in the future 2025 Thanksgiving as a throwback draft
Excellent removal package, I'm a believer.
Believe in this deck!
Happy new year from the Netherlands Jim! I wish you and you're family all the best! Greetings from the Netherlands.

some of the weirdest games of all time here
I think you’ll make it believer!!!
Wont stop Believing in jim! Lets go bronze to mythic!
Believer, Orzhov is just too good
the end of the last game… damn
Lets go! No simic 🤞
Jim has mentioned his "rules" for bronze to mythic. Does anyone know where to find them? It was something like no aggressive combat tricks or something where he mentioned it

Did I hear a rat crack at 32:15
I ain't holding out a lot of hope for this one. Unbeliever.
wanna fight or something actually cracked me up
Thanks for a great 2024! Here is wishing you good draws in 2025
Pretty sure that artist did 315 damage game 3 pretty wild
it did 15 damage. shy 300 damage

Its a weird format this one. I do kind of like the many small synergies but its a little inconsistent.
why you no use ladns with gain 1 life ?
tap lands, its reasonable to run them anyway for the panda, but with only one card that really benefits from it, its perfectly reasonable to not run them too
i always want to root for the 7 wins i just know it doesnt matter how good of a player you are the game just doesnt want you to win lol!!
The amount of "ums" he been saying throughout his videos of recent have been near constant making it hard to get through watching
Non beaver
I love the deck, but my gut says a dies-to-variance 5-3
Ofcourse match 1 the mirror match with the same rare. I dont understand this is still a thing in Arena.
i think black white is near unplayable NONBELIEVER
We are believing hard into 2025
!

This is nice but it does hurt algorithm metrics like engagement so I get why he wouldn't want to
Yeah it absolutely tanks your stats. There are extensions that can hide video length on desktop
I like this idea

@@mononuk oh that sucks
First🎉
Happy new year Jim
Where are all the good cards? I think they are in a different format.
I’m kind of stunned how often you say a card is good when the win rate stats of it are horrible. Panda isn’t very good even in black white if you look at the data
can you stop complaining about card styles literally every time you see them. like we get it, you hate them. old man yells at cloud
lost to #1 anime fan llanowar elves deck smh
