Watching the lit up Smuggler's Surprise while he's calculating if he can survive an attack with the creatures on board... My heart can only take so much stress.
I don't normally talk trash on gameplay, but holy cow, match 1 game 2 was so painful watching him not use progenitus after saying how bad dopplegang would be on vaultborn tyrant. Lol
You're always so ridiculously jolly in all your videos, Seth. It helps me a lot. I really like it when you upload. I can't know if you're actually struggling behind that smile, I'm sure you are sometimes at least, but thanks a lot. I love watching your videos. I'll be saving this one for tomorrow.
First game misplay from the opponent; if they dopplegang for X = 3, they could copy the boilerbilges, mistmoors and leyline binding 3 times each, exiling hovership, hunter and elves, doming Seth for 12 damage down to 11 life, then attack all out with a fish and progenitus to block. The flyers get through for 8 damage, and Seth doesn't have enough blockers to prevent lethal. Huge misplay from the opponent, who clearly has three untapped mana to boost dopplegang that little bit more!
Yeah that was a misplay missing multiple lethals, but I think the core issue is that they might not even have been looking for lethal outs because I think they thought they could block Progenitus.
@@zackestin1368 Oh you're totally right, didn't see the line! I figured he could make a fish for the final block, not taking into account it taps to crew the hovership!

Hi Seth, a really silly Alchemy combo I've been having a lot of fun with is using self-mill and Mycoid Recurrection to create massive Osseous Sticktwisters. It is terrible, if it encounters any graveyard hate whatsoever it collapses instantly, and it's also very funny. other friends that work well in the deck: Scavenger's Talent, Patchwork Beastie, Cache Grab, Omnivorous Flytrap, Hedge Shredder
Game 1, after scooping to a wide board with the (correct) justification that you don't have a sweeper to get out of that, why didn't you pull in Split Up?
I'm not sure Split Up is actually that good against the Overlord deck, it would have been great in game one, but I'm not sure how often that situation comes up in the matchup.
This deck is definitely just worse than the inferno and terror of the peaks build of smugglers surprise though, and that deck already just isn’t great in the meta vs dimir for people who want to try this deck
Funnily enough I made a Progenitus deck yesterday! You can actually grab Progenitus from a mill effect like smugglers surprise. On arena you just have to click the library button on the menu when you look at the cards.
Huh. I think I understand why (surprise lets you choose from among the milled cards, and doesn't care where those cards actually ended up), but since Progenitus makes you shuffle should it still be a valid choice? Since you shouldn't know which card in your library is the just-milled Progenitus? *JUDGE!*
You can't, but it's not obvious why. Progenitus shuffle is a replacement effect, so it's never in the graveyard. Now, if it went to exile this still wouldn't be a problem, since ss doesn't care where it mind to, but the library is a hidden zone so it's no longer available for smugglers surprise to take.
In that first game, the opponent probably didn't know that protection meant it can't be blocked either. I've played a similar deck, found that arena zoomers just don't know what all protection does
I suppose Get Lost is similar to Make Disappear, in that it's two mana... Edit: okay, a lot of just saying the wrong card names today. Never change, Seth
That mulligan against monored was super disheartening. Llanowar elves on the draw was your best chance of stabilizing and without other Kona + vehicle, progenitus is a worse circling vultures
In my opinion, Kona is the best mono G commander on Arena. Not by a landslide, but I play a ton of green decks and Kona has been my most consistent. According to my untapped, I've got a 72% wr and I've played over 60 games with it (lots of them only last till turn 3-4). My next best being Marwyn at a 66% but I have over 200 games with her. Lol.
Yea, Sunfall is still an obnoxious card. I really thought that there should have been a card in Foundations that interacted well with all the exile based removal that is currently in Standard. Some sort of one or two mana white instant with “Until end of turn, if an effect an opponent controls would exile one or more permanents you control, instead exile those permanents and return them to the battlefield under your control at the beginning of the next end step.”
Protection saves you from DEBT. (Damage; Enchant/Equip; Blocking; Targeting). Any (nonred?) Boardwipe will work since it doesnt actually stop destroy or exile. However it will stop most red boardwipes (like anger of the gods or blasphemous act); since they are generally x amount of damage. (Although you can use something like wildslash to stop damage prevention then remove a pro red creature with a red boardwipe. It would have to still be a wipe effect as you still would not be able to target it)
I’m a long-time fan of the channel. I enjoy the episodes, but they feel a lot less against the odds than they used to. They feel a lot more like brews than what they used to be. They used to be jank cool things that I was legitimately amazed Seth made happen.

is it? I barely see mono red anymore. Most of what I see is control or dimir flash nonsense. I was under the impression aggro was on the way out since there are ton of answer and life gain running around. My solution has be radkos new three drop dude that revives someone from your graveyard every turn. Destroys most things besides exile control. Throw in the 3 drop red that can cut off life gain and so long as your graveyard and board isn't exiles over and over again you can rebuild.
Add text to the card that makes you discard your hand in order to play. Sunfall solved. You get exiled based removal, plus a creature for tempo at the cost of your hand.
