Although this episode's ending was rushed, it was a good episode; perfect until the " We are the Morax" scene; it should have been a 2 parts story.

Alan Cumming was ridiculously over the top. I loved it. That's been something of a Dr Who tradition, really - the over the top villain.
Alan Cumming was brilliant in this episode. Pure enjoyment.

I did enjoy this story, but far from my favourite of this series. It really just couldn't find a consistent tone to stick with. Entertaining enough and by no means a bad story, just flip flopped too much between atmospheric horror and campy comedic caper. That confrontation between 13 and Charles before she was ducked was awesome though, very tense and a favourite moment in the Series for me
I really loved this episode, the atmosphere and paranoia of the town was set up amazingly, Alan Cumming was obviously brilliant and it was great to have a threatening and unique villain! Definitely felt like Tennant-era Who, absolutely loved it!
Not much to say about this episode. Alan Cummings was good...that's about it.

😁😁 this wasn't a great episode, but that line and timing right there was funny.
Now you mention it I think they were using that to set up that scene later where the Doctor is chained up and King James comes to get her to tell him how to operate the Sonic Screwdriver.
I thought highly of that particular scene.

The pacing has been a problem for the whole of Season 11. They changed the episode format, front loaded the start of each episode and it left all the endings feeling rushed.
Just like most of series 11, it seems they didn't know what to do with their extended runtime.

I honestly pity those who couldn’t enjoy the new series. I thought it was brilliant - I actually couldn’t go missing the episodes the day they aired. With capaldis last few seasons I watched them on catchup because my interest was fizzling out, but Jodie honestly brought it all back. I can understand why a lot of people hated it because of all the change. I mean, change is scary, but we go through this process every time the doctor regenerates or a new showrunner takes over. There hasn’t been a new doctor where their first series was met with all good reviews - the problem with this fandom is they believe the divide in opinions means we have to force our opinion onto others as a matter of fact rather than our own opinion. How about you all respect other people’s opinions and let them either love the show or hate it. Don’t take the enjoyment from others.
Here, here- on the last bit about the fandom. People, I think are turned away by the very different format of the episodes. A lot of them are pased like classic who stories.
I totally agree with you! If they didn´t enjoy it so be it, that´s their choice but I read enough comments were those people even insulted others because they enjoyed series 11 and that is just dumb in my opinion.

Series 1: Creepy green monsters disguised as political figures in 10 Downing Street, and a giant satellite hosting game shows being controlled the by the Daleks.
Series 2: Enslaved monsters, turn evil controlled by the devil himself, and ghosts come to earth while the daleks wage war on the cyber man in the middle of London.
Series 3: Giant crabs are stuck under a massive island filled with millions of refugees under New New York, and the Doctor’s oldest friend comes back and is now Prime Minister, releasing the crushed bodies of future humans to take control of modern day Earth.
Season 4: The Doctor is stuck in Pompeii on Volcano day, where he saves the infamous Ceicelius and his family, and the daleks invade the earth with the return of the evil Davros, and the Doctor teams up with Sarah Jane and Torchwood.
Series 5: The Doctor fights against the weeping angels on a crashed ship in the middle of nowhere, and gets stuck in a giant box just for the Universe to end and the Tardis to explode.
Series 6: The Silence have infiltrated the moon landing and are stopped only by the Doctor broadcasting their faces to everyone on Earth, and the Doctor goes to Demons Run where he learns his wife is actually the Timelord daughter of his current companion.
Series 7: The Doctor travels to a rock floating around a star, only to put the angry monster in that star back to sleep with a kickass speech, and... honestly the Series 7 finale is so forgettable.
Series 8: The Doctor faces the evil which lies underneath your bed, in a heartwarming story stemming back to a fear from his childhood, and he faces the newly regenerated psycho Missy who is turning the dead spirits of everyone into killer cyber men.
Series 9: The Zygons have grown tired of being human, and have begun to uprise. The Doctor stops them by forcing Bonnie to call down the revolution by making a deal, and the Doctor gets stuck in a giant complex castle for billions of years only to end up on Gallifrey to confront the inevitable.
Series 10: The Monks predict the end of the world, sending government officials into a frenzy when Bill Potts agrees to let the Monks take over, and then her and Nardole turn over the Monk regime, and then they get stuck on a 500 mile long ship orbiting a black hole where both ends are effected by time differently, where he eventually confronts two incarnations of the Master, and then sacrificing himself to stop the original cyber men.
Series 11: The mud is alive, ooo spooky. Frog grace, GIANT SPIDERS that’s all, and scary man with teeth in his face is back. whoopdidoo. What fun.

This is a very unfair way of comparing the villains, because on the one had you can word it as “mummy’s boy in a mask” and “frog Grace,” which sounds trash, or you can word it as “an unkillable, illogical virus is taking control of the people of London in the midst of the blitz” and “a literal living universe made out of a matter that is incompatible with ours is attempting to kidnap living beings to satisfy its loneliness and sorrow.”
If you’re going to try to honestly, compare them, at least try to _honestly_ compare them.

This must have been so cool to film on location! Good villain, actually didn’t see the plot twist coming and enjoyed the Doctors chance to hog some dialogue and show her skillz with a z as she would say!

Quite an underrated episode IMO. I mean it's a pretty damn entertaining episode until the Morax are revealed. After that it's a quick resolution to what could have been an overall great episode. Still a fun watch tho

Yeah, pacing was a bit of an issue for some Series 11 episodes, as shown in this scene. Having two episodes for the same story would allow Whittaker and the others to get across their dialogue at a more natural-sounding pace.
This was my favourite episode, the Morax being revealed and the doctor getting ducked where my favourite scenes too, so dramatic and so thrilling ♥️

Knight Chime 30 years ago? It has been always been better than this. I am used some of the cringe they can throw at the audience in some episodes, but I’m just pointing out how much worse the dialogue is here.

I think it's easy to miss the subtly acted scenes she's had. Like the one later in this episode opposite Cumming's King James over the Sonic Screwdriver, or the scene on the bus in 'Rosa'.
Because of scenes like those and others, I find her a brilliant actor, easily equal to any of her predecessors.

While it’s not my favourite series I still very much enjoyed this episode. Though at this point in the series I felt a little exhausted from the amount of brand new enemies on episode to the next. Hopefully with Series 12 providing familiar faces the ‘OG’ fans will be on board with the show more

Na boring
First bit of the new doctor I have actually seen..... I thought BBC effects had gone beyond cardboard cut outs years ago, mind you the lip sink's are good. In fours minutes I got the impression the series was flat, grey like 3 day old porridge and the Doctor had gone through spacial rip in time and space that sucked out any kind of glimmer of interest in the present series.
😂 I've never heard the words "Satan and hell" being used as many times as I have in this one episode 😭😭😭
This season handled historicals better than any other modern season. Usually I like them less than present/future eps.

If you want a good historical story with the witch trials, I recommend the novel The Witch Hunters.
The First Doctor, Susan, Ian and Barbara land in Salem and Susan tries to convince people that witches aren't real while the Doctor is asked by Barbara whether changing history is possible or not, which he doesn't want to answer. It's a great story with its only flaw being a bit too long IMO.
I actually found this episode quite scary
I don't actually see anything wrong with this series I really enjoyed watching s11 all I would say is that it could do with a love story!!

Apart from some pretty good cinematography at times and Alan Cumming, this episode was like a 5 or 6/10 with a final 10 minutes that dropped it to a 4

Well if we're going for such a big-name actor I'd prefer Idris Elba.
He's done action, comedy, drama, and could do all those things in Doctor Who. Plus he could really embody someone the Daleks are actually afraid of.
@@garygcrook Elba for Bond, sure, but he is too vanilla for the doctor. As is Jodie Whitaker. Great for companions, but the doctor needs to be bigger than the stories...bigger than the programme. Alan Cumming has the full range...from total camp to incredibly emotion. I think he would make a fine doctor.

How many more episodes are we getting of Jodie? I don’t think many. The writers didn’t do her justice. She hasn’t had her big Doctor moment yet.
She never will until Chibnall gets fired lol. This is what happens when writers retire and leave the show in other peoples hands. They put more effort into making her earrings than the actual show. The cinematography they showed off in a youtube video made me laugh for a good 20 minutes.

You know it's funny I found myself multiple times this season going this monster would better suit this episode. I mean come on I couldn't have been the only one thinking that the Kerblam episode would have the Cybermen. Not some political statement on jobs being taken away.
Remember when every monster in Moffat's first season was a callback? No, me neither.

Actually I did.
It was Marvel UK, and they also did the Transformers comics.
In fact there's a crossover between all three in the shape of Death's Head.
He was in the Transformers comics and the Marvel superhero comics, and it was a guest appearance in the Doctor Who comics that told how moved between those other two franchises.
