The discussion/complaint about the “judo flip” reminds me, seen a video on animations trigger where apparently if basim is in crouch sprinting or crouch rolling then the faster, lower profile unity assassinations would trigger and you can avoid the slower ones consistently. Haven’t really tested it myself though
From my testing and experience, I would say this is true. It's not _guaranteed_ but crouch-stabbing makes it _much more likely_ for the anim to be a fast one.
@@LeoKRogue yes, the video I saw made mentions of exceptions, some contextual thing where if a guard is near some obstacles then the rule breaks. It seems the logic is somehow reverse to how the series usually handles this, instead of quick, low profile animations for when you’re…well slow and low profile, the animations are quick when you’re being quick, which I guess is good enough logic only that it runs counter to what AC players would expect.
Holy crap, I love the setup at 6:35. Throws knife, then takes out not 3 but 2 targets with Assassin Focus. Why only 2? Because the frickin’ knife throw takes down the 3rd guy AFTER landing with AF!! It’s a brilliant moment. Love the commentary in this. I could watch and listen to you two all day.
I just love it. The real AC we've been playing before. Never really been able to do this in the past 3 games. I remember how I played Unity and Syndicate, using all tools at my disposal.
I'm definitely feeling a "we're so back" vibe when it comes to general stealth _power._ Tool usability to manipulate and control clusters of guards in a layout is also the strongest it's been since Unity really, and I would say it's actually even stronger.

That's probably a huge part of why I'm enjoying this game so much, heh. Of course it doesn't hit _everything,_ but yeah, you're right, a lot of the concepts I talked about are here.

8:00 It took me 3 (4?). Playthroughs to discover that yes, you can go in raw. Going in with the disguise just triggers the cutscene. This kill and Ning are both like this. Instead of waiting for the guard to let you in, you can throw a smoke on your target and assassin focus to them. Or take on and kill all the guards in whatever way you wish to deal with them. Going in raw actually allows the guards to be close enough by you after the confession cutscene to give it more tension/realism. Now you have to act fast to get out of there alive. Honestly, this game has some of my favorite black box missions in the series.
That's pretty interesting, yeah. I do wish the blackboxes were a little less lock-and-key/linear, since if you replay them even once you realize they're not actually as varied or dynamic as they might've implied. Very cool missions though. Would've loved more of those variations like the ones we just talked about.
Totally do more plz. this was dope. At this rate, I’m just hoping they do new game plus. @@LeoKRogueAbsolutely, I'm enjoying going through this phase, also thanks to the fact that I'm in love with Mirage. I wasn't expecting to be so much into it after Valhalla tbh.
Only just now I realized how non-lethal takedowns were fully present in the prologue part of mirage then completely removed for the rest of the game. It’s really odd for a stealth focused game to take away a fully set of takedowns. Do you think we can call for ubi to add it back in, seems completely doable technically and would bring back a big part of stealth fantasy.
You have a lot of other non-lethal tools to help you avoid killing in later parts of the game so it's pretty unnecessary, I feel. I kind of love the increased difficulty of takedown/Focus both being something that will kill a guard. If you want to spare lives it's genuinely something you have to work hard to do, which feels pretty satisfying to me. It also encourages alternate tool routing, like unlocking Sleep first.
@@LeoKRogue I see your points about functionally it’s unnecessary(now sure if those knockouts are true knockouts), but style has always been just as important to AC. If nothing, it seems a weird choice to exclude some nice, low profile animations that’s been missing in the past two games.
Lethal tools are amazing so when the contract says do not kill i can test my ghosting skills out love your call back to rev thats all i could think about when changing my tools and gear this game needs new game plus
@LeoKRogue i already do that, the i put the weapon wheel on L3.. but the problem is often accidentally open the wheel just when moving around... any recommendation
Upon 2nd thought I would have preferred AC Vikings with the Varangians over Ragnar’s brood & England. The best region in Soyhalla was running around in cold azz Norway. Varangians are known for settling in what would become the Russian Empire. Plenty of ice cool wild lands
Leo, may I ask you a personal question ? I've been a subscriber for a long time now and I know you don't talk about it normally but I must ask, where do you stand right now about the ongoing war in the middle east ? I understand that this is a heated subject and I was wondering what you think about it as I feel very troubled myself with everything that's been going on . Do you think there is a right side in this conflict at all ?
I do. I firmly believe Palestine should be free, as do all of my Jewish friends who are horrified to see their own painful history repeating itself, now inflicted on another group of people just like them. As do the many young Israeli people who are sitting in jail right now for refusing to be part of Israel's genocidal army. They would rather be imprisoned than help kill innocents, and to me that's heroism. Some of these people are only nineteen years old, and they still take a stand for what's right. I don't believe there's anything noble or necessary in thousands of innocents being in a huge open-air prison, not allowed to leave or move anywhere else, their only airport destroyed years ago, their electricity, water, and internet controlled by their oppressor, who openly calls for their extermination. I don't like tyrants. I never have. I never will. I will never stand with any government or any people that so blatantly oppresses another population.
@@LeoKRogueDon't you think that supporting Palestine right now would mean to excuse their aggression on Israel and their crimes against its population? (Killing and raping woman, kidnapping children, calling for violence against Jewish population, oppressing lgbt+ people). Hamas openly attacked and its fighters had no problem in taking hostages among civilians or killing these civilians.
Sounds like Afro-Samurai is confirmed. Templar Afro-Samurai would be an interesting twist. I’ll wait for reviews before skipping or buying Red. Hopefully it’s like Malaka’s Odyssey NOT Soyhalla
I was watching your Mirage review and noticed you never talked about how powerful Basim is in combat if you rotate between Heavy and Light attacks. You said the game did not reward you much for offensive play but i had an different experience. If you do Light Heavy Light that 3rd light staggers like a heavy gives stamina back and can be chained back into a heavy again. With Normal guards this means you can always be doing big damage with stamina sustain while keeping them staggered. If you combine that with the dodge light attack that staggers into another heavy attack you can chain heavy and light almost 24/7 in combat. Spear guys and the Max Notoriety guys are the only ones that demand parrys. I played on Hard and found the combat better than most AC games even if it looks worse.
Interesting. I definitely do Lights into Heavies frequently, that's about the best I imagined you'll get for somewhat uninterrupted offense, and I briefly mention how good the Light -> Heavy combo is in that exact video, actually. (It should also be in most of my combat footage since it's my go-to.) I haven't tried Light Heavy Light that much since early on I noticed they tend to block after the second hit of any combo-route, so I didn't keep trying others. They don't block it / stop your combo when you do that? Let me know. Mirage also has some of my favorite combat in the series, btw. Not sure if I made that clear, but I genuinely love it. What are you doing to get Stamina back on that third light? To my knowledge, that's not an innate system mechanic, are you using some Sword or Dagger in particular?
@@LeoKRogue Light attacks give stamina back. The 3rd light after the heavy I considerer to be like a combo ender or something and it staggers. Since that combo ender is also considered a light it gives stamina back equal to what the heavy attack took. So the combo is infinite and infinitely sustainable unless you miss or cannot get a light off to recover what the heavy took. Remember parry’s also give stamina though so most of the time you should always have stamina. I think they did it so when you do an entire light attack loop you get one stagger at the end but I use a light combined with a heavy to get me to that combo ender quicker. Some guys will try to block but the sword guys are not fast enough to block the combo ender because they are still stunned from the heavy. This means you can infinitely stun them while waiting for parrys. Sometimes even heavy’s can’t turn around in time so they get hit by the combo ender and can then be hit by yet another heavy. It’s pretty simple to. You simply just rotate from light to heavy over and over. I have not seen many player take advantage of this at all. It was pretty much all I did in combat.
Basim going from animation to animation freely also makes the combat look better. Whenever you have to do the Valhalla lock on strafe walking animation the combat looks so bad. I grind my teeth every time I see someone just light attack and Valhalla strafe away because it has no impact. You need to keep the animation chains going constantly or else the Valhalla animations will catch up to you.
Can you make _absolutely sure_ lights give stamina back? Everything I've experienced so far is telling me that's definitely wrong, so I'll go in to test it myself but there's just something off about that specifically. They do in Valhalla, but not in Mirage, unless there's been a change since day one. Really, really curious about that.
I’m sure you’ve seen the new Red leak. After reading Afro-Samurai’s alleged Adewale like background I’m opening up to him being a non-Japanese. And based on history and who he’s based off of Afro-Samurai could be a Templar or at the very least an associate of the Templars. Afro-Samurai & J-Pop girl start as enemies but cooperate for the sake of Japan. Quebec gets bashed for making AC too goofy but it’s a brave decision if they decide to delve into the Templar side of things
Understandable, when you play, you don't have to use it if you don't want to. Personally, I love it, honestly. Anything that uses the Animus to give the subject in the simulation a little "boost" of sorts has always been raw as hell for me, I love the Present Day and lite-cyberpunk vibes of the Assassin's Creed universe.
You simply cannot tell me Assassin's Creed Mirage is a terrible game after watching this. I cannot believe how many people are shitting on such a gem of a game all because they don't even understand how deep its systems are.
Hating on Assassin’s Creed has been the popular thing for awhile now, despite it being the basis for most AAA games in general since Arkham Asylum came out
Don't worry so much about those people. It's always going to happen, all we can (and should) really be doing is playing, enjoying, and developing a warm, welcoming community around whatever Assassin's Creed games we love that currently exist -- at least until there comes a day when Ubisoft creates a _genuinely_ polished and innovative experience that rivals the best of the industry. Until then, the best thing we can do as players is to just keep highlighting the potential this series has.
Bro I'm on my third playthourgh tools are EVERYTHING and a must if your going for the sneaky assassin style there are tool chests In and around every restricted area they refill your some of tools and you usually get one elixir so you have no reason to hoard tools imo
Does Leo K attend exclusive Ubi events like some AC UA-camrs. I noticed you freely speak your mind and will openly criticize the lesser entries. You aren’t in the Camp of Gold Star Everything Ubi Does
Given that Russian commies have already been covered in the comics & by Nikolai. The next most iconic Russian figures are the Cossacks. I’d set a Russian game sometime in the prime of the Cossacks. I kind of snaked my boy because we did this call from his phone. Next time it'll be better.
Ay next time I’ll know so we can use a proper mic 😂😂😂
Wow that was beautiful, did he rehearse this?
Yes. ^_^
I try my best to make some dope kills like this but Lang moves are really raw
Lang is insane, man. He's legitimately better than me most of the time.
Lethal tools are amazing so when the contract says do not kill i can test my ghosting skills out love your call back to rev thats all i could think about when changing my tools and gear this game needs new game plus
Ghosting is pretty strong in this game, to be honest. Probably one of the better games in the series to do it in.
@@LeoKRogue right and feels great too
Fuck yess leoo they animation is and when set up/or the game alows
it looks great
More more
One day. I have another recorded, I just don't know when I'll have the energy to edit it.
Plus there were too many favorite moments.
bruh dat was siccckkkk.... can you show me the buttonn mapping
I think the only thing that really matters is to set Hold-to-Sprint on right trigger/R2.
@LeoKRogue i already do that, the i put the weapon wheel on L3.. but the problem is often accidentally open the wheel just when moving around... any recommendation
I put weapon wheel on Hold DPAD Down and never have any problems. :) My Heal is Double-Tap DPAD Down.
Upon 2nd thought I would have preferred AC Vikings with the Varangians over Ragnar’s brood & England. The best region in Soyhalla was running around in cold azz Norway. Varangians are known for settling in what would become the Russian Empire. Plenty of ice cool wild lands
What's done is done, man. The less I think about Valhalla for the most part, the happier I am.
Not Russian Empire but an Empire of Rus to be precise
Can’t wait for your no upgrade run 😇
Love your work, Lang!
It's a process... v_v
@@LeoKRogue Take your time. I haven’t even started the game yet 🥹🥹🥹 it’s been a torture for a month now
@@ikraikgaming Thanks!
his tool mods make me want to start a third playthrough 😭 god i wish we had new game + tho.
Do it.
Do you still do livestream on this game in twitch?
I will, I wasn't home for a week and I'm back now.
@@LeoKRogue thank you mentor
Who knows, it's probably still a long way out.
Good thing the Geneva Conventions didn't exist in Medieval Baghdad.
I don't think Templars have interiority or consciousness, I'm prejudiced and evil that way. :)
@@LeoKRogue Shay is rolling in his grave.
LeoK x Heffer mirage discussion when? :P (hopefully side eject mod discussion with me and you/or you and animus drifter)
That would be _very_ cool.
Please do this on unity aswell
I'll think about it. 😅
A city based open world. Can it be done
Sure. That's basically what games like Mirage, Unity, and Brotherhood (to name a few) already are, right?
Unity also rewards swapping from heavy to light over and over with the sword as well.
Interesting. I definitely do Lights into Heavies frequently, that's about the best I imagined you'll get for somewhat uninterrupted offense, and I briefly mention how good the Light -> Heavy combo is in that exact video, actually. (It should also be in most of my combat footage since it's my go-to.)
I haven't tried Light Heavy Light that much since early on I noticed they tend to block after the second hit of any combo-route, so I didn't keep trying others.
Games AC can be inspired by Hitman, Dishonored, and Ghost
I’m sure you’ve seen the new Red leak. After reading Afro-Samurai’s alleged Adewale like background I’m opening up to him being a non-Japanese. And based on history and who he’s based off of Afro-Samurai could be a Templar or at the very least an associate of the Templars. Afro-Samurai & J-Pop girl start as enemies but cooperate for the sake of Japan. Quebec gets bashed for making AC too goofy but it’s a brave decision if they decide to delve into the Templar side of things
I've seen the leak, yes. Curious to see how much of it is accurate.
Slo mo is ok.
I dont like teleport ability
Woah tools are the star of this game. Meanwhile I’m crouching around and slashing enemies one by one lol
Change that ASAP haha
Bro I'm on my third playthourgh tools are EVERYTHING and a must if your going for the sneaky assassin style there are tool chests In and around every restricted area they refill your some of tools and you usually get one elixir so you have no reason to hoard tools imo
@@emmaelstad341 honestly it kinda of gets to the point where the item shop feels like a scam. there are so many ammo and material chests everywhere...
Does Leo K attend exclusive Ubi events like some AC UA-camrs. I noticed you freely speak your mind and will openly criticize the lesser entries. You aren’t in the Camp of Gold Star Everything Ubi Does
I will always say what I really feel, no matter who it irritates. Whether that's my viewers or Ubi themselves, my own thoughts matter most to me.
Given that Russian commies have already been covered in the comics & by Nikolai. The next most iconic Russian figures are the Cossacks. I’d set a Russian game sometime in the prime of the Cossacks. Perhaps when they expanded the Russian Empire eastwards into Siberia. A region of the world filled with stunning natural landscapes that nobody knows about
That would be cool.
