Thank you so much for showing this in great detail! You’ve helped me make a well informed decision for the next school year. My daughter has ADHD and test anxiety. She’s 8yrs old. I’ve got her caught up and ahead in reading, science, math, and social studies. She’s struggled with writing sentences, spelling, and reading comprehension. I know it’s odd but she can read on a 4th grade level, do multiplication word problems, simple double digit multiplication, count money, time word problems and knows 38 states capitals and abbreviations. She’s very much a hands on learner. This will be perfect for her and my teaching style. I figured out quickly using interactive notebooks help her learn. We did spelling a little the last two years but not in great detail. I wanted something that breaks the rules down so she could learn to spell anything. This year we’ll concentrate mostly on her problem areas and review everything we’ve learned this year so she’ll stay on track or get just a little ahead. I usually keep going on all the subjects she loves until we get stuck lol 😂! If I sense some frustration, I pull back. I pray this works for us because I’ve tried 8 different spelling curriculums. I don’t want her to memorize words. Thanks for this video!!

Thank you for this review! I have been using All About Reading and Spelling U See, but I would like to switch spelling next year. AAS seems remarkably similar to AAR. I am thinking about possibly creating my own spelling dictation by just taking words and phrases from AAR as we go through the spelling rules in AAR. Is this fairly comparable to the AAS curriculum or would we be missing out on a lot?

I haven't used All About Reading with my kids before, so I'm not sure how much they overlap. All About Learning Press says on their website that, "AAS and AAR both use a similar sequence and the same phonograms. Both are complete phonics programs, so they are interrelated in that way. AAS teaches words from the spelling angle, and AAR teaches words from the reading angle." Here is a quick overview about the differences between the programs from their website: blog.allaboutlearningpress.com/whats-the-difference-aar-aas/ Hope this helps! :)

Do you do a lesson per day? How many lessons are there in the level 1 book and how long does it take to get through each lesson?

There are 24 lessons in level 1. For us, it takes about a week for each lesson - sometimes more, sometimes less. We usually work on spelling for about 10-15 minutes per day. You should expect to get through one level per school year. Of course, every child is different, and some students will be able to go faster and some will need more time. Hope this helps! :)

I have two boys 8 and 9 my boys have taken longer to do all about reading and are on level 2 with that. All about spelling goes nicely with all about reading making it easier for them on spelling. My boys are doing a lesson a day and we do "spelling test" out loud with our daily lesson. I think this is a great program for boys or those who find it challenging to learn

This program works so well for many kids, especially if they struggle with a more traditional spelling program. :)
