But nothing like a flight I was on when I was a teenager (1981), from Colorado Springs to Denver on a Convair 500 turboprop. It stayed low, and that was the roughest flight I've ever been on. Good Video! You flew into Denver on Runway 35L and came in over the south part of the city and then the east end. I used to live in the Denver area and as a pilot I was able to recognize most of the city as you made your approach. The A320 is a great plane even if I am a HUGE Boeing fan. Did United still have Channel 9 ATC available? If you fly with them again, you might think about having ATC audio during the flight.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 роки тому

      I don’t believe United has that audio option anymore. I could be wrong, but I looked and I couldn’t find it. As for why I don’t put ATC audio on my videos? It’s very time consuming. The longer the flight, the more time-consuming it is. It’s relatively easy to go online and find the air traffic control archives. But, just on a flight from Joplin to Dallas you are going through Joplin Ground, Joplin Tower, Kansas City Center, Memphis Center, Dallas Center, Dallas Approach, Dallas Tower, Dallas Ground, etc. You would have to know the exact times that you were handed off from each of those different frequencies. You also have to know the conversion from Zulu time to the time zone that you were flying it at the time. And you can’t search by specific flights. So you’d have to go through and listen for each individual call and try to match it up exactly with the timer flight that you’re trying to match it with. I put out 10 videos per week, in addition to trying to be a good father, and working a regular full-time job. I just simply don’t have the time to do that.

    Hi! I love your videos, though often saddened as I was expecting the "full flight" as stated in your title. Would you consider only using that tag when applicable? Thanks!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 роки тому

      So, all of my "full flights" have been the complete full flights for quite some time now. Several years at this point. Some older videos are from before I had enough storage space to record completely full flights, so back then I was posting full flight experiences, that showcased all of the major parts of the flight. I.e., showing people the full flight experience all in one video. Before I called them Takeoff and Landing, but that had the same problem of not bering descriptive enough, boucle I should large portions of the cruise and the onboard service. So, on older video, where it's not an "unedited full fight" it was posted with the understanding back then that it was a full flight experience with portions of the cruise not shown. Now, it's way too tedious to go back and edit old videos, and on top of that, you can't fit "experience" in the title anyways, because then it's too long. UA-cam only allows 100 characters in a a title, and if I add that or something similar, I have to remove the aircraft type, airline, or city pair, which is more important info. Anyways, all new uploads are always the full flight. I appreciate you watching my friend, and I"m glad you enjoy the videos!

      I do work in the aviation industry, however, I do not work for any of the airlines. My day job is locally based and does not require any travel. I love to travel and my UA-cam channel is basically my hobby at this point. So, all of the flights you see on my channel I pay for out of my own pocket. In fact a lot of times I will book flights specifically to ensure I don’t run out of footage. I end up spending a lot on the channel, but like I said it’s basically my hobby at this point. Please don’t take that as me complaining. I very much enjoy putting everything on the channel together, but nothing you see on the channel has anything to do with my job. That is one of the reasons I set up a Patreon account. That way if my viewers wanted to help in a small way they could. As for how many days I travel. I would say it probably averages to about 3 or 5 days per month. For example, in October I’ll be flying on 10 total flights over 5 total days.

      first of all im no expert.
      the spoilers on the a320 get powered by different hydraulic systems. the most outside one is powered by the number 1 engine hydraulics. i can only imagine, that the spoilers got retracted but engine reversers were still deployed. maybe that causes that specific spoiler to stay extended.
      similar to how some spoilers on the 777 only extend when reversers are deployed when landing.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 роки тому

      That’s the power transfer unit or PTU. The A320 family of aircraft has three independent hydraulic systems. The hydraulic systems are normally pressurized by pumps. For redundancy, the aircraft has alternative ways to pressurize those systems, including the Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Basically, when only one engine is operating, the PTU is used to keep pressure built in the hydraulic systems. That’s why you only hear it when taxiing.

      Full flight, in my titles, does not mean unedited or uncut. Nowhere in the title, description, or comments do I ever claim that it is an uncut flight. Full flight means everything important to understand the experience of the flight is presented in one video. I.e., not just a takeoff, landing, or 10 minute trip report. Also, it’s worth mentioning, that the time I list in the description, is the full amount of time spent onboard the aircraft. That includes the time at each end of the flight while we’re sitting at the gate doing nothing, which is obviously not shown. I try to cut as little as possible out, but there are edits.

      That said, SeatGuru, which is a site I use to see basic seat map layouts seems to point towards the answer being no. According to SeatGuru, row 16 on Air India's A321 is not in front of the engine. According to it, 16 is right over the middle of the wing. www.seatguru.com/airlines/Air_India/Air_India_Airbus_A321_V2.php

    That flap is vibrating a bit! Does anyone know for sure that this is not something that should be looked at by mechanics?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  5 років тому +4

      This is actually very common on the A320 series of aircraft. In fact, I'd be more worried if it wasn't moving around like that. Seriously though, this is something I have noticed on many, many Airbus A319s, 320s, and 321s. I believe it's normal. Thanks for watching my friend!

      The flap vibrating is normal, they are actually engineered to have some movement, otherwise if it were too rigid air loads could cause issues. The flaps are attached where you see the rear fairings, I served for many years in the USAF as a B-52 Crewchief036/ mechanic, excellent videos, I will be watching them all, cheers

      Well I suppose if someone coughing is a fail haha. That was not me though. I, unfortunately, can't control the passengers that are sitting around me, so hearing their conversations/coughing is inevitable. Thanks for watching my friend.

    • @sla31

      That my friend, is the lovely PTU (power transfer unit). It is used to help control power between both hydraulic systems with only one engine is operating. They are notoriously loud on Airbus aircraft.
