I think the argument was that Jordan "did not" pass the ball enough. Not that he couldn't. Of course, until his squad of Paxson, Pippen, Cartwright, and Grant came of age he didn't have a lot of options to pass. Phil Jackson had the keys to unlock his full potential as he did with Kobe as well.
Trust issues. With Dean, you better pass to the open man or you sat on the bench. When he got to the pros, he was the guy and some of the players had chemical issues so he took over. Doug Collins cleaned it up but trust issues was still there till PJ.
I REMEMBER THAT GAME TOO,I WAS IN THE THE 8TH GRADE MVP OF MY JR.HIGH BASKETBALL TEAM 11-1 RECORD ,I DUNKED IN ONE GAME I WAS 6'2 TALL AND DIDNT GEOW ANYMORE.LOL IM A RETIRED CORRECTIONAL OFFICER NOW WITH 3 COLLEGE EDUCATED CHILDREN AND 3 LOVE OF MY LIVES GRANDCHILDREN NOT BAD FOR A 52 YR OLD SKINNY KID FROM THE PROJECTS, NOT SO SKINNY ANYMORE 🤣🏀✌🏿😎
I remember this game because kenny smith got hurt. Diagnosed with a broken wrist after the game. I don't remember all the dunks. This is like Houston vs Louisville from the 1983 final four
A superb game Ice Reynolds coming out party I knew from high school that he would go pro a humble quiet assassin. I had the pleasure of playing against him many times a great player for sure on of the best to come out of Brooklyn Newyork.
nope- and its not even close. in addition to being a great athlete- jordan was fundamentally sound which is very rare to see- and those fundamentals served him well in later years when the athleticism began to wane. dean smith taught him well. people who actually understand the game realize there's no comparison to be made here. we are talking about two completely different classes of ballplayer. and to the people now trying to compare lebron as 3 with bird as a 3- stop. just... stop.
I did not know kenny Smith played with MJ...I did not remember. Amazing how different the game is now ...that player nearly took Kenny's head off when he drove the basket, closed lined him in the air and the commenters were like Kenny went up in a bad angle there was no bad intent heat of the moment ... 80s ball man miss it.
At first, I was like this is clickbait, They only showed MJ scoring two points. I was thinking that all of his points were coming off-screen. How is he going to score 29 points but then after half time I was like WOW MJ went Off!
Was at that game at 14 yrs old. Tudor's dirty play ruined the season for perhaps the best UNC team ever assembled. Another season where a great UNC team that was playing the best ball was ruined by Creighton's Ethan Wragge who made a dirty play to break PG Kendall Marshall's wrist during the NCAAT in 2012.
Thanks for uploading this one. This was before Jordan was Jordan and nobody knew the player he'd become and also the game where I began despising him. Tudor fouls Kenny Smith hard and Jordan goes after Tudor. IMO a classless act. Didn't care much for Jordan after this. It was a hard foul but not malicious intent was intended. If there was malicious intent Tudor would have nailed him with his body instead of his arm. Just didn't care for Jordan after this. But, as I watched the guys NBA career I had to give credit where credit was due, the guy was a hella ball player. He got pampered a lot by the refs, but was still a great player.
Let me come slap you across your face in mid air so you can fall on your ass and have a chance at a career ending or severe injury. Did you fall off a stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down? Don’t be silly or a hater understand the game any decent Person would have reacted in the same fashion post-play!
@@bdub1934 who is the Hall of Famer? Kenny Smith isn't in any Hall if Fame. He was a very good college player and was a fine pro but not a Hall of Famer.
This Jordan guy has enormous potential. Keep an eye on him.
I don't know where the myth that MJ wasn't a good passer comes from, but MJ was excellent at everything.

One play can change a season. What might have been had Kenny Smith not broken his wrist?
They would have definitely won the national championship
MJ's take over mentality just continued into the NBA. GOAT.
Ice Reynolds from Brooklyn wasn't scared of nobody! Good match up with UNC.
Jerry Ice, with that AHAM, Bklyn spirit, putting in work against four pros for UNC!!!
I remember that game like it was yesterday. That foul cost Carolina. I love the way MJ came to Kenny Smith’s defense.

If Kenny doesn't take that cheap shot and get hurt we win the National Championship. Best team in NCAA that year by far.
I agree
I remember this game well. I knew Air vs Ice was going to be played above the rim. Great matchup...
Watching Reynolds in this game, you would think he would of been the next Jordan!
That’s what I was thinking or at least a hall of famer.
Man, Kenny is tough to take that fall and pretty much shake it off.

Jerry ice reynolds Brooklyn in the house 💯
Adam your one of the best channels in UA-cam. Great upload again!

Ice Reynolds Brooklyn legend went to work in this game.
No doubt that's my cousin
Any they say lebron is a better passer....nope

did reynolds have a pro career ?
He drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round in 1985 with the 22nd pick overall and played 8 seasons in the NBA
Yes 1st rd pick 22 8 years Orlando Seattle and Milwaukee I believe
😳waitaminute. Great upload, did the announcer say Kenny Smith is from "....The Queens, NY..."???
That's right... Brazilia building in lefrak city...12th floor...always dancing up the street with a Walkman on to the train station
Excellent game before the 3 point era.
Woody Durham was simply the best. Man I miss those days!

What an amazing team North Carolina had😮 Perkins, Daugherty, kenny Smith and that number 23 whose name i cant remember😉

Micheal Jordan, Sam Perkins, Kenny Smith, and Brad Daugherty. Pretty good lineup
Michael was so efficient even in college
spotted a freshman don redden,
obviously audio is the radio play by play
Michael Jordan is the goat of basketball.

Class of 88?; The Kenny Smith broken wrist, the lost to Syracuse 87 team loss, and the Kenny Williams in 88' ineligible recruit hurt the most.
the discipline MJ has compared to uber athletic, elite recruits today is ridiculous
Goddamn, Ice was bad! Imagine if he'd have gained 10-12 pounds. He could have done the same shit for 10 years in the NBA.
You only show LSU points this sucks
You're welcome, Wayne.

Tudor probably has problems from UNC fans to this day... lol
He is the GOAT deal with it.. like him or not.
