This guy was amazing he made collegiate players look like high schoolboys. What the hell was portland thinking when they passed him up in that draft.

They thought they didn't need him as much as a tall center (7'1") since they had Clyde Drexler.

@@Maal7432 Well like Bobby knight said after seeing him play personally if you need a center play him at center because you have to pick this guy. Best player he said he ever seen play basketball.

Would have loved to have seen a rematch of NC vs Georgetown in 1984. It would have been as epic as in 1982.

There's a reason this great team didn't win it. Kenny Smith had his wrist broken by Tudor, and when he came back over a month later, the chemistry was way off - the loss to Duke in the ACC semis was a big concern. This team was the best Carolina team I'd ever seen, just annihilating everyone in their path, incredibly deep too. Totally depressing to think back. But such are sports.

Woody Durham was one of the great announcers for UNC of all time. He was so loved that the crowd would chant Woody, Woody. Of course he was a UNC homer because he was a grad. It was sad to lose him. He passed this year at the age of 76

They may would have because I believe it was in this game that Tudor who was the main LSU senior committed a hard foul against Kenny Smith which seriously injured him resulting in a broken wrist It took some time for Kenny to recover and by the time he came back they didn't have the same chemistry and they were defeated by Indiana who won the title that year. Jordan was hounded by Dan Dakich the whole Indiana game and somehow held Jordan to 13 points scored. Georgetown won the title that year against Houston I believe.

This is the game where Jerry "Ice" Reynolds intentionally fouled Kenny Smith, causing Kenny to break his wrist. UNC was never the same, even after Smith came back later on that season.

Injury ruined the team chemistry. Kenny's replacement, Steve Hale, tried his best to run the team but it didn' happen. But you make a good point. Why did a UNC team with Jordan, Perkins, et al not go all the way ????????
