know this is way too late, but good luck on it. A general rule for jazz solos is you will be fine as long as you stay with the beat and play with confidence. If you are improvising, then I would use the melody of the song as a basis as well as sweet sounding licks that fit well. That should get you a pretty good solo, but look at jazz improv books if you really want to play a beast solo.
