2A19 or T-12 is a Soviet smoothbore 100-mm anti-tank gun, which served as the main Eastern Bloc towed anti-tank gun from 1955 until the late 1980s. The gun requires a crew of six: commander, driver of the towing vehicle, gun layer, loader, and two ammunition crewmen. When the MT-LB is used as the transporter, 20 rounds are typically carried (10 APFSDS, 4 HE-Frag, 6 HEAT). Since the weapon is a smoothbore, all the ammunition is finned for accuracy during flight. The standard equipment consists of the panoramic PG-1M sight for indirect fire, and an OP4M-40U telescope for direct fire. The APN-5-40 or APN-6-40 are used for direct fire by night. The gun can be fitted with the LO-7 ski gear for travel across snow or swampy ground.

Представляет собой модернизацию 100-мм противотанковой пушки Т-12(индекс ГРАУ - 2А19), заключавшуюся в размещении орудия на новом лафете. В серийном производстве с 1970 года. Изготовитель - Юргинский машиностроительный завод. Ствол орудия состоит из 100-мм гладкостенной трубы-моноблока с дульным тормозом, казёнником и обоймы.
Достоинства:
Универсальность, Скорострельность, Относительная дешевизна боеприпасов, Надежность, Простота в эксплуатации.
Недостатки:
Моральная устарелость, Недостаточная эффективность огня МТ-12 против современных танков.

would a been lethal set in choke points and well hidden .A pair working together in a two team machine gun defensive type arc would allow for one to shoot at the best angle etc, then the other plays back up , also confusing the enemy as to the guns position. This tactic would also make resetting the sights less stressful and time critical. Ah arm chair analysis done i am (my apostrophe key is missing) outa here 😄

@@yutuniopati They could still have limited affect. if well camoed and placed. In certain scenarios they could still pick off targets and dugouts stll carry their own merits. Surveillance is a problem and disguise and stepped deployment would be great

Considering the Pzh 2000 entered mass production in 1994 and the 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV in 2016, yet the Pzh 2000 still has the best stats for a howitzer.
The only thing that may be better than the Pzh 2000 is the DONAR AGM, however it's based on the Pzh 2000.

where it was rather poor as an anti-tank gun tactically, it was way too tall, bulky and difficult to relocate to be an effective mobile AT gun. Also MT-12 and 88 are from different decades. It's a stupid comparisons you made. Secondly Rusians always made better artillery then Germans.

Ambushing light vehicle columns? Indirect or direct fire artillery? Low level conflict deployment? Its old but no totally useless
Rapira is still very effective weapon especially with modern ammunition. Moreover, Russia have specific environment condition, huge parts are nearly not reachable with tanks or BMPs for big part of year, but rapira can be easily and quickly transported/deployed by helicopter together with crew and supplies, while air transport of any armored vehicles present serious logistic troubles and in case of war could be completely impossible. Another aspect is that Russia still have minor part of its military created by recruits and their training on BMPs doesnt giving much sense, but easily operational and fast deployable MT-12 is very good weapon for such type of units and huge boost of their firing power.

If you hit weak spots from the front you can knock a modern MBT out, also this ehould be more of a ambush weapon I feel, so shooting sides where it whould have no problem penetrating it
In WW2 this type of field gun prevented Axis breakthroughs on Soviet flanks. The 100mm is by no means a thing of the past! Beneath 500m it is a monster.

@@Just_a_Lad the 9M117M1 Arkan missile fired from the MT-12 is has a tandom warhead capable of penatrating 750mm of RHAe after ERA. this does infact fall within the estimates for the RHAe of glacis armour of the M1A2 SEP V3, as estimated by Steven Zaloga (some 500-1000mm vs HEAT)... so it *might* be able to take out a modern abrams frontally. it can definitely take out older abrams out frontally as missiles of the same penetration have taken out Iraqi abrams frontally.
even its regular APHE would be able to take any abrams variant from the side.

Very long shells with a large powder attachment, its second name is "Rapier". 100×910 shells, the speed of the sub-caliber armor-piercing projectile is higher than that of the 120mm tank gun m1a2.
