Who can resist the urge to dance when listening to these pieces ? Thank you, Maestro Dvorak, for your obsession with melody.

Cette magnifique bagatelle servait de trame musicale à l'excellent film 'L'insoutenable légèretè de l'être" tiré du roman de Milan Kundera, avec Juliette Binoche et Daniel-Day Lewis...

Having just acquired a small Trayser harmonium I am so excited that it may be good enough to play music of this quality

I heard this in Spotify and I wondered, what the hell was that beautiful humble instrument? Sounded like an accordion or something, turns out it's a harmonium. Those walks on 5:05 are just so satisfying

To me it sounds like a waste of that person's time.

He is playing a Mustel harmonium, the Rolls-Royce of harmoniums. Not a humble instrument really, but perfectly suited to follow all the dynamics of the strings, which he does very good! This instrument is equipped with Percussion, a special mechanism with hammers like a piano. This makes the attack of the harmonium a lot faster, so that it can follow and accompany even better.

There is another version of this Dvorak composition that is of a MUCH HIGHER audio and video quality. I will leave it to others to comment on the technique of those musicians as compared to the performances in this video. The link is below.

Good musicians obviously, unfortunately the recording is far from perfect, mostly due to the specific acoustics of the cathedral, that is most certainly a nice place but not best-suited for performances like this... (not to mention some disturbing ambient noises of course..)

it appears the harmonium is out of tune, too.

@@bahedbanger honestly I wouldn't be able to tell. Anyway, the performance is still stunning. Love it!

@@bahedbangerNo, it isn't. A French harmonium like this one has a big dynamic range, and at both ends of that range the tuning will slightly change, depending on the pressure the player gives.
