Dvorák is a balm and fragrant oil for my soul so distressed today. Thank you for that gem!

I really appreciate this! That accordeon ads another dimension to the music, I think. Well done!

An accordeon in a string quartet? Well, apparently it seems to work out quite well. Anyone having any objections? I have none.

@@kodebruijn4753 And this is a "small revolution" , the accordeon was not popular amongst the fine, the highbrowed people in Dvoraks times. If it even was invented? But I think it fits in quite swell.

@@staffanolofsson8201 Apparently, this piece was composed for 2 violins, cello and harmonium, which looks like a piano-sized organ on the outside, but works quite similar to the accordion on the inside (i.e. it uses metal reeds instead of pipes). When Dvorak composed the piece in 1878, some forms of accordion already existed, but they all had a left side designed to play chords and not melodies. Therefore, the early accordions were much more suited for folk music etc. The first accordions that could play melodies on both sides were only built around 1900. These accordions are very close to organ/piano/harmonium in their possibilities, so they are great for classical music and the logical replacement for the old fashioned harmonium. If only more people would play it in a classical setting!
