I work at a national park and feel like I need to say: seal pups are often found like this and appear in distress when they are not. The mothers leave them temporarily, but come back. They won’t come back if the seal has been interfered with by humans. That’s why it’s so important not to touch or approach them. Call marine mammal authorities. I’m assuming this pup was truly injured. But we encounter this all the time in our park, and seal pups have died from well meaning people trying to rescue them, when the pup has actually now been separated from its mum. Just a note for everyone ❤

What type of seal is this?
Because the type of seal I know, The babies still have the Fur then born. They grow into their grey coat and the mother leaves them on the beach alone. She comes back to feed them and cuddle, before leaving them again. The baby will die if they wander into the Water because the Fur isn't Water prof, and it becomes havy and cold. The mother leaves them for good when they become old enough and their grey coat have come in. Then they are off to mate again because a male have shown interrest in her, it saves the baby from a aggressive male. The baby can lay for some Days before getting into the Water themself.
