- This summer was a BIG one for me! I bought a place in NYC and for the last couple months I've been working on little changes that make it feel like home to me. Sharing some of the progress so far in this vlog - enjoy!

i feel most at home wherever my fiancé is. it's been hard making my space feel like home since he died last year, though. when he died, i had to move out of our home because i couldn't afford it on my own and i was all alone in a state we had just moved to. i moved back to our hometown, but i wasn't able to take much of our stuff back with me. i just recently moved into my own apartment and i've loved getting to decorate a new space, but it still doesn't feel like home to me. i sleep with one of his pillowcases and that helps. the other morning, a cold front blew in and i had left my windows open the night before in anticipation. that morning, i woke up wrapped in a cocoon of blankets, and for a brief moment, before i opened my eyes, it felt like i was back in our bed in our little apartment in washington heights waking up next to him on a fall morning- and in that moment i felt at home.

My space feels like home when I can walk in and be surrounded by people and things that I find joy in. Whether I'm away at school or back in my hometown I found this to be true. From my roommate's puppy greeting me at the door or my mom asking how my day was, I feel loved and safe.
My place feels like home when I hear my kids laughing and running around in the hallways. Listening to them make me so happy.
My place feels more like home whenever I see my dog's toys around, because no place could be home without him!

The paintings that your mom and dad painted are beautiful! They’re so colorful and make your space pop so much! Plus they’re super sentimental

The kitchen is what makes my place feel like home. It’s where everyone always congregates to chat, cook, and be present. Our family has a cookbook full of stories and recipes and it warms my heart when we can gather and spend time sharing new stories.

So whenever I come back, Its really beautiful to have someone waiting for you, to keep you grounded, its the people that define my place as 'home'

What makes my home is one my new puppy and falling over his millions and millions of toys, I just love it, to have this perfect dog greeting me when I come and go, is the best feeling. And a good candle, I am all about smells in my home and I love warm scents in my home and it just adds to the coziness.

My home feels like home when it’s a zoo-My boyfriend is home, his kid is tearing through the house being a kid, the dogs are being crazy, family is over having a good time, there’s plenty of food and laughter. As much as I love a clean and quiet house, it’s not my home unless there’s a little bit of chaos.

My house feels like home when I have the candles burning and when I am doing house chores whilst having Friends on Netflix playing or music on Spotify. Also, the fact that I still have my furniture from my first apartment really makes me happy. I also very much value my bed , pillows and comforter.
Photos of friends and family make my place feel like home! I live out of state now and seeing their photos makes me feel like anywhere I go they are with me

What makes my home feel like home is 100% my dog. She's the light of my life and my best friend! The close second though is an organized space. I love the process of unpacking and finding a home for my belongings and seeing the end result!
I keep making shadow boxes with photos and little things that remind me of that moment and that really makes a place feel like home to me. It was hard initially because I just moved into a college dorm a couple months ago but being able to see my loved ones and reminisce on the memories I share with them has made it a lot better.
Having pictures of all my family hanging around makes my space feel like home! I love all the old black and white photos too. 💕
My place feels like home when... there's a candle lit, all the plants are taken care of, the bed is filled with cozy pillows and blankets, there's a soft rain outside while the windows are slightly opened, and a cup of hot tea on my bed-stand 💙🦋
My home is my happy place were you can live, be yourself, laugh, cry, love and all beautiful memories are created. It’s not the things, but more the memories that each item hold. ❤️
What makes our home feel the most homey are sentimental photos, like photos from our wedding, and meaningful paintings like those that my dad did and things we find at craft markets. I also love decorating for each season, particularly fall because it’s my favorite season. The final touch is lighting a candle :)
My apartment feels like home because of all the little treasures and souvenirs my boyfriend and I pick up anytime we travel/vacation somewhere new. I love the little reminders of all the happy times we have together. 🥰

Artwork definitely feels like home. My Dad was an artist and art has always been an essential part of decor. Now as an adult, I collect work from other artist who I connect with and having an original piece in the home just makes it really feel like my own unique space.

I've lived in NYC for a year now after relocating from the Midwest post-graduation and it hasn't really felt like home until recently. With the holiday season nearing, which is my favorite time of year, the anticipation of holiday decorating has made me really excited to live in my space and show it off to my friends and visiting family. The smell of warm candles, apple pies, fresh coffee with my roommate in the morning - all simple pleasures that all me to find mellow moments in the hustle and bustle of this city which I now call home!
The thing that makes my home feel like home is the control I have over it. I can completely turn it into my safe space and do whatever I want. We just bought out first home as well, and owning over renting is so so lovely. I miss the ability to have someone else deal with all the issues, but I love that I can take care of my home and make sure things are done thoughtfully and intentionally in it.
Artwork is what makes my house a home. And I must say that the flower painting your dad drew, is just beautiful, such an emotional piece.

What reminds me of home is volcanoes and lush green of plants. I was always in the move for whatever reasons in life, school, renting, bought a house but I knew it was just temporary. The last move, I added plants, started from a little pot of succulent and the collections are growing now. I don't see volcanoes where I live, but so grateful I am now surrounded by rocky mountains. My couch makes my place feel like home. For me, it’s my spot to curl up with a book and hot tea to unwind. I always keep cozy throw blankets and fluffy pillows on it and it just creates instant calm!

My boyfriend and I and our cats recently moved as well, so it doesn’t feel like home quite yet. But having him and our kitties running around as they get acclimated to the space makes it feel more like home. Also, unpacking things and getting new bits and pieces to fill in our new space has helped as well. Having my boyfriend and the kitties and a clean home is what feels like home to me. I can’t wait for cool weather and to decorate for Christmas either, that always makes everything more cozy!

My grandmother wasn't a painter, but she worked with international students and they gifted her art from around the world. Filling my space with her paintings makes me feel like she's still here with me and like I'm right at home, even though I've only just moved to NYC. :)
Though I like to decorate and organize and diy to no end, the only thing that makes a home for me is the ability to come into your space and take a deep breath knowing you are safe and calm and thankful.
